Aerodynamic damping often plays an important role in estimations of wind induced dynamic responses of super high-rise buildings. Across- and along-wind aerodynamic damping ratios of a square super high-rise building with a height of 300 m are identified with the Random Decrement technique (RDT) from random vibration responses of the SDOF aeroelastic model in simulated wind fields. Parametric studies on effects of reduced wind velocity, terrain type and structural damping ratio on the aerodynamic damping ratios are further performed. Finally formulas of across- and along-wind aerodynamic damping ratios of the square super high-rise building are derived with curve fitting technique and accuracy of the formulas is verified.
This paper presents a Current Distribution Control design for Paralleled Positive Output Elementary Super Lift Luo Converters (PPOESLLCs) operated in Continuous Conduction Mode using a Sliding Mode Controller (SMC). Manipulating the higher current requirement of the load through the paralleling of POESLLCs, results in a current inequality. This is mainly due to dissimilarities in the power semiconductor switches and circuit components used in POESLLCs, which may lead to converter failures. In order to balance the proper load current sharing and the load voltage regulation of PPOESLLCs, a SMC is developed. The SMC is designed for the inherently variable-structured of POESLLCs by using the state-space average based model. The static and dynamic performance of the developed controller with PPOESLLCs is validated for its robustness to perform over a wide range of operating conditions through both a laboratory prototype and MatLab/Simulink models, which are compared with a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. Theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the developed SMC along with the complete design procedure.
We introduce a novel Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) algorithm designed to improve the performance of thermal-inertial odometry. Thermal infrared image, though advantageous for feature extraction in low-light conditions, typically suffers from a high noise level and significant information loss during the 8-bit conversion. Our algorithm overcomes these limitations by approximating a 14-bit raw pixel histogram into a Gaussian mixture model. The conversion method effectively emphasizes image regions where texture for visual tracking is abundant while reduces unnecessary background information. We incorporate the robust learning-based feature extraction and matching methods, SuperPoint and SuperGlue, and zero velocity detection module to further reduce the uncertainty of visual odometry. Tested across various datasets, the proposed algorithm shows improved performance compared to other state-of-the-art VIO algorithms, paving the way for robust thermal-inertial odometry.
Across-wind aerodynamic damping ratios are identified from the wind-induced acceleration responses of 15 aeroelastic models of rectangular super-high-rise buildings in various simulated wind conditions by using the random decrement technique. The influences of amplitude-dependent structural damping ratio and natural frequency on the estimation of the aerodynamic damping ratio are discussed and the identifying method for aerodynamic damping is improved at first. Based on these works, effects of turbulence intensity $I_u$, aspect ratio H/B, and side ratio B/D on the across-wind aerodynamic damping ratio are investigated. The results indicate that turbulence intensity and side ratio are the most important factors that affect across-wind aerodynamic damping ratio, whereas aspect ratio indirectly affects the aerodynamic damping ratio by changing the response amplitude. Furthermore, empirical aerodynamic damping functions are proposed to estimate aerodynamic damping ratios at low and high reduced speeds for rectangular super-high-rise buildings with an aspect ratio in the range of 5 to 10, a side ratio of 1/3 to 3, and turbulence intensity varying from 1.7% to 25%.
The solar wind electrons are made of three or four distinct components, which are core Maxwellian background, isotropic halo, and super-halo (and sometimes, highly field-aligned strahl component which can be considered as a fourth element). We put forth a steady-state model for the solar wind electrons by considering both the steady-state particle and wave kinetic equations. Since the steady-state solar wind electron VDFs and the steady-state wave fluctuation spectrum are related to each other, we also investigate the complete fluctuation spectra in the whistler and Langmuir frequency ranges by considering halo- and superhalo-like model electron VDFs. It is found that the energetic electrons make important contributions to the total emission spectrum. Based on this, we complete the steady-state model by considering both the whistler and Langmuir fluctuations. In particular, the Langmuir fluctuation plays an important role in the formation and maintenance of nonthermal electrons.
Negative output elementary super lift Luo converter (NOESLLC), which has the significant advantages including high-voltage transfer gain, high efficiency, high power density, and reduced output voltage/inductor current ripples when compared to the traditional DC-DC converters, is an attractive DC-DC converter for the field of negative DC voltage applications. In this study, in consideration of the voltage across the energy transferring capacitor changing abruptly at the beginning of each switching cycle, the improved averaged model of the NOESLLC operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) is established. The improved DC model and transfer functions of the system are derived and analyzed. The current mode control is applied for this NOESLLC. The results from the theoretical calculations, the PSIM simulations and the circuit experiments show that the improved DC model and transfer functions here are more effective than the existed ones of the NOESLLC to describe its real dynamical behaviors.

The present contribution describes the application of elliptic-blending second moment closure to predict the gas cooling process of turbulent super-critical carbon dioxide flow in a square cross-sectioned duct. The gas cooling process under super-critical state experiences a drastic change in thermodynamic and transport properties. Redistributive terms in the Reynolds stress and turbulent heat flux equations are modeled by an elliptic-blending second moment closure in order to represent strongly non-homogeneous effects produced by the presence of walls. The main feature of Durbin's elliptic relaxation second moment closure that accounts for the nonlocal character of pressure-velocity gradient correlation and the near-wall inhomogeneity guaranteed by the elliptic blending second moment closure.
In the last decade, artificial intelligence's dramatic advancement with the development of various deep learning techniques has significantly contributed to remote sensing fields and satellite image applications. Among many prominent areas, super-resolution research has seen substantial growth with the release of several benchmark datasets and the rise of generative adversarial network-based studies. However, most previously published remote sensing benchmark datasets represent spatial resolution within approximately 10 meters, imposing limitations when directly applying for super-resolution of small objects with cm unit spatial resolution. Furthermore, if the dataset lacks a global spatial distribution and is specialized in particular land covers, the consequent lack of feature diversity can directly impact the quantitative performance and prevent the formation of robust foundation models. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a method to generate benchmark datasets by simulating the modulation transfer functions of the sensor. The proposed approach leverages the simulation method with a solid theoretical foundation, notably recognized in image fusion. Additionally, the generated benchmark dataset is applied to state-of-the-art super-resolution base models for quantitative and visual analysis and discusses the shortcomings of the existing datasets. Through these efforts, we anticipate that the proposed benchmark dataset will facilitate various super-resolution research shortly in Korea.

In this paper we introduce a model based centralized hierarchical controller for cooperative team of soccerplaying multiple mobile robots. The hierarchical controller is composed of high-level and low-level controllers. Using the coordinates information of objects from the vision are simple models of multiple mobile tobots on the playground. Subsequently, the high level controller selects and action model corresponding to the perceived state transition model and generates subgoal and goal-velocity, from which the low level controller generates trajectory of each wheel velocity of the robot. This two layered simplicity. The feasubility of the control strategy has been demonstrated in an implementation for real soccer games at a MiroSot league.
State-of-the-art voice codecs have been developed to extend the input bandwidth to enhance quality while maintaining interoperability with a legacy codec. Most of them employ a modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) for coding their extended band. We propose a source filter model-based coding algorithm of MDCT spectral coefficients, apply it to the ITU-T G.711.1 super wideband (SWB) extension codec, and subjectively test it to validate the model. A subjective test shows a better quality over the standardized SWB codec.
