The sulfonamide is one of potentiative antimicrobial agents which is being used widely in veterinary medicine for control of several animal diseases such as mastitis as well as for promotion of growth. However, the misusages of sulfonamides in food producing animals, especially cattle produce several considerable problems in human health caused from residues of this antibiotic in milk product. To determine the most effective analytical methods for residual sulfonamides in raw milk, this study was performed comparatively using by some applicable screening detecting method such as TTC, Charm II test (sulfonamides), and Lactek tests (sulfamethazine kit). The positive result from screening tests was confirmed by HPLC method. Milk samples (540 raw milks) were collected from dairy farms. Results of this study are summariezed as follorrs ; 1. All samples (540 raw milks) showed negative response from TTC test, however, 18 raw milks of those samples responded positively to Charm II test. 2. By Lactek test, residual sulfamethazine was detected from 4 raw milks. Fifteen raw milks of 18 samples which were classified as positive one by Charm II test, showed positive response 3. Retention time of sulfonamides added at the level of 100ppb into sklm milk was ranged from 1.55 minute to 23.3 minute. Recovery rates of sulfonamides were variable from 6.7% upto 94.2% depended on the types of sulfonamlde. 4. Single type of sulfonamides was detected from 10 raw milk samples, 2 types of sulfonamides from 3 samples and 3 types from 2 raw milks by HPLC. 5. Sulfonamides was detected in this study were 5 types : 11 samples for sulfisomidine, 5 samples for sulfamethazine, 3 samples for sulfadlmethoxine, 2 samples for sulfathiazole and 1 sample for sulfadiazine. 6. The highest levels of residual sulfonamides was 210.3 ppb of sulfamethazine but the lowest concentration of residue was 2.2 ppb of sulfamethazine and sulfisomidine, respectively. Number of samples detected positively in this experiment were belows : above 100 ppb for 1 sample (4.5%) (sulfamethazine), 50~100 ppb for 4 samples (18.1%) (each 2 samples for sulfamethazine and sulfisomidine, respectively), 25~50 ppb for 6 samples (27.1%) (2 sulfisomidine, each 1 sample for sulfadiazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole, respectively), 10~25ppb for 3 samples (13.7%) (3 sulfisomidine), and below 10ppb for 8 samples (36.4%) (4 sulfisomidine, 2 sulfadimethoxine and each 1 for sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole).
In order to study the transfer of antibiotics resistance genes of the genetically cloned bacteria in water environments, DK1 strain, which is resistant to kanamycin (Km), chloramphenicol (Cm), streptomycin (Sm), and sulfadiazine (Su), was selected from the Gram-negative bacterial isolates from wastewater. One of 4 plasmids harboured in the DK1 strain was found to possess Km$^{${\gamma}$}$Cm$^{${\gamma}$}$ gene and be about 68 kb in size, and it was designated as pDK101. The plasmid of pDK101 was also found to have 16, 32, and 6 restriction sites for EcoRI. .PstI, and SalI, respectively. From the digestion fragments of pDK101 plasmid and pKT230 used as a vector by EcoRI restriction endonuclease, pDT309 and pDT529 were constructed as chimeric plasmids which possess Km$^{${\gamma}$}$Cm$^{${\gamma}$}$ gene and are 30.9 and 52.9 kb in size, respectively. When the chimeric plasmids were trasformed into E. coli C600 or E. coli HB101, transformants of DKC601, DKC602, DKH102, and DKH103 were obtained as cloned bacterial cells. The Km$^{${\gamma}$}$Cm$^{${\gamma}$}$ genes were well expressed in those cloned cells and the chimeric plasmids were clearly detected in the cloned cells of DKC601 and DKH103.
This morphological study was carried out to investigate the healing effect of open and occlusive dressing on rabbit skin wounds. The male white rabbits were given incision wound measuring 1.0cm in length and excision wound measuring $1.0{\times}0.2cm$ respectively on backs. Five rabbits among their received sterilization with beta dine twice a day and kept wound open. Another group of rabbits received sterilization and occlusive dressing with application of 1% sulfadiazine ointment and covering of gauze. The rabbits were observed at 5, 10, and 15 days after dressing with light microscope. The results were as follows. Both incision and excision wounds received open and occlusive dressing respectively revealed formation of scab and regeneration of epidermal epithelial cells at wound margin. The superficial dermis showed infiltration of neutrophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes, fibroblastic proliferation, and edema. On 10 days after opera and occlusive dressing the scab had disappeared and regeneration of epidermal epithelium was completed. The capillaries and inflammatory cells were decreased in number. However, edema and fibroblastic proliferation were more pronounced. On 15 days after opera and occlusive dressing, there were keratinization of regenerated epidermal epithelium, loss of inflammatory infiltration, edema, and capillary proliferation, and increase of fibroblastic proliferation and collagen fibers. The amounts of scars were less in incision wound than of excision one. There were no differences in healing processes between both dressing methods. According to the above results, it was conceived that sterilization of wound is more important in wound healing than dressing method in trivial wounds.
The aim of this study was to develop an analytical method for sulfonamide antibiotics (sulfadiazine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfathiazole) and their metabolites ($N^4$-acetylsulfadiazine, $N^4$-acetylsulfamerazine, $N^4$-acetylsulfamethazine, $N^4$-acetylsulfamethoxazole, sulfamethoxazole-$N^1$-glucuronide) in environmental samples. The solid phase extraction (SPE) with LC/ESI-MS/MS have been used for the analysis of target compounds, and the recoveries of SPE clean-up were at the range of 12-94% for C18 cartridge, 60-95% for HLB cartridge, 25-123% for MCX cartridge, and 70-90% for tandem HLB/MCX. By established method, detection limit, recovery, and relative standard deviation were 0.001~0.187 ng/mL, 66~115%, and 5~17%, respectively. This method was effective and sensitive to use for the simultaneous determination of sulfonamide antibiotics and their metabolites in environmental samples. Four sulfonamide antibiotics were detected at the range of 0.008~2.153 ng/mL. For metabolites, only $N^4$-acetylsulfamethoxazole was detected, but the concentration was under the MDL level.

$\omega$-Anhydride-functionalized poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) obtained from chain-end functionalization and anionic ring-opening polymerization of ethylene oxide using n-butyllithium with potassium t-butoxide in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) was found to be an efficient material for the preparation of water-soluble, polymeric pro-drugs. The reaction of $\omega$-anhydride-functionalized PEO with sulfonamide or with vancomycin provided an efficient method to produce corresponding, water-soluble, PEO-conjugated sulfonamide or PEO-conjugated, vancomycin pro-drugs. These were used successfully to prepare water-dispersible, silver nanoparticles. In this study, the particle sizes were in the range of $5{\sim}40$ nm. The resulting products were characterized by $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electron and X-ray diffraction, size exclusion chromatography, and UV/Visible spectroscopy.

Many of the studies on absorption and excretion of drugs have been reported in the field of pharmaceutics, but the effect of acrid condiments for the absorption of drugs has not been. Hereupon, the authors investigated them in small intestine canal of rat in situ. In this experiment, aminopyrine, sulfadiazine and salicylic acid appended acrid condiments such as garlic, red pepper and pepper showed more increased absorption than constituted drugs. In particular, pepper showed the most increased than pepper, red pepper and garlic take lower absorption than pepper. When two drugs and over exist at a time, the efficacy is different from each other. Therefore, it is necessary to research of each circumstances administering one drug or compound drugs. We considers that we are abet to get safe and effectivecopound preparations when we studies on the effect. of drug action.
Among the main intimidation to the sheep and goat population, PPR outbreaks are causing huge losses especially in endemic areas. During recent times, six outbreaks of PPR were confirmed at semi-organized goat farms/herds in various regions of Punjab province and Islamabad capital territory (ICT), Pakistan. The disease started after introduction of new animals at these farms with no history of previous PPR vaccination. The clinical signs appeared affecting respiratory and enteric systems and spread quickly. Disease caused mortality of 10-20% and morbidity of 20-40% within a time period of four weeks. Morbidity and mortality rates were 30.38% (86/283) and 15.55% (44/283), respectively. Three treatment regimes were executed to demonstrate the role of vaccination during outbreak at these farms. First was to use only the broad spectrum antibiotics (Penicillin & Streptomycin and/or Trimethoprim and Sulfadiazine) at two farms (Texilla and Attock). Second treatment regime was to use the same broad spectrum antibiotic along with extensive fluid therapy (Farms at ICT-1 and ICT-2). The third regime was to use of broad spectrum antibiotic plus fluid therapy along with vaccinating the herd against PPR during first week of outbreak (ICT-3 and ICT-4). The third scheme of treatment gave the better results as there was no mortality in third week post-outbreak. Therefore, it is suggested to give proper importance to PPR vaccination along with conventional symptomatic treatment when dealing the PPR outbreaks in endemic disease conditions.
A 2.2 kg adult female Amur leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) injured in a road accident was rescued. Severe abrasions on the left chin were washed daily with an antiseptic and silver sulfadiazine ointment was applied. Corneal edema of the oculus sinister (OS) was treated with ofloxacin and 5% sodium chloride eye drops. The skin wounds gradually improved, but the eye condition did not improve and the lens was also found to be detached. In addition, on the 6th day of hospitalization, melena was observed. On radiographic examination, foreign bodies in the stomach and a fracture of the sternum were confirmed. Subsequently, endoscopic removal of foreign bodies and enucleation of the OS using an electrothermal vessel sealer were performed sequentially over several days. However, corrective surgery of the fractured sternum was not carried out because a natural union of the fracture had occurred, which was found to be fairly stable. The patient completely recovered on the 83rd day and was successfully released into the wild on the 97th day, after two weeks of adaptation training in a natural environment. This report describes the rehabilitation of a wild Amur leopard cat injured in a road accident through a series of diagnostic and treatment steps until its eventual return to the wild and highlights some improvements needed in the process.
Phenolic compounds are prevalent as toxins or environmental pollutants, but they are also widely used as drugs for various purpose including anticancer agent. A novel biphenolic compound, bis(2-hydroxy-3-tert-butyl-5-methylphenyl)methane (GERI-BPO02-A) was isolated from the fermentation broth of Aspergillus fumigatus F93 previously, and it has revealed cytotoxicity against human solid tumor cells. Its effective doses that cause 50% inhibition of cell growth in vitro against non-small cell lung cancer cell A549, ovarian cancer cell SK-OV-3, skin cancer cell SK-MEL-2 and central nerve system cancer cell XF498 were 8.24, 10.60, 8.83, $9.85\mug/ml$ respectively. GERI-BPO02-A has also revealed cytotoxicity against P-glycoproteinexpressed human colon cancer cell HCT15 and its multidrug-resistant subline HCT15/CL02, and its cytotoxicity was not affected by P-glycoprotein. We have also tested cytotoxicities of structurally related compounds of GERI-BPO02-A such as diphenylmethane, 1,1-bis(3,4dimethylphenyl)ethane, 2,2-diphenylpropane, 2-benzylpyridine, 3-benzylpyridine, $4,4^I-di-tert-butylphenyl$, bibenzyl, $2,2^I-dimethylbibenzyl$, cis-stilbene, trans-stilbene, 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenyisulfide, sulfadiazine and sulfisomidine for studying of structure and activity relationship, and from these data we could suppose that hydroxyl group of GERI-BPO02A conducted important role in its cytotoxicity.

The Chinese medicinal plant Artemisia annua is the source of the antimalarial compound artemisinin. By the way, Artemisin annula was known have endoperoxide ring structure is included and has anti-malarial effect. Malaria and Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) is belong to Apicomplexa genera. So, confirmed whether we go compound 1,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dioxa-bicyclo[3.2.2]nonane that have endoperoxide ring structure and there is anti-toxoplasmosis effect. The efficacy of 1,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dioxa-bicyclo[3.2.2] nonane alone was examined in vitro and in a murine model of acute toxoplasmosis. In vitro studies were peformed with HeLa cell cultures, with quantification of Toxoplasma growth by a cell proliferation assay. Selectivity of 1,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dioxa-bicyclo[3.2.2]nonane was 4.9 in vitro cell proliferation assay, this is higher than sulfadiazine (selectivity was 1.63). For in vivo studies, mice were acutely infected intraperitoneally with 10$^5$ tachyzoites of the virulent RH strain and then treated perorally for 4 days from 6 hours postinfection. Efficacy was assessed by sequential determination of parasite burdens in peritoneal cavity. in vitro, 1,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dioxa-bicyclo[3.2.2]nonane inhibited Toxoplasma growth at a concentration of 150mg/kg of body weight per day, the inhibition ratio was estimated to be 85.72%.
