A Suggestion of In-situ Rock Mass Evaluation and Correlation between Rock Mass Classfication Methods (현장암반 평가에 관한 제안 및 암반분류법들간의 상관관계 고찰)

  • A Suggestion of In-situ Rock Mass Evaluation and Correlation between Rock Mass Classfication MethodsThe purpose of this study is to find out rock mass classification method which is practically applicable to a field and to consider a correlation between the new method and the old method. Rock mass is an aggregate of separated blocks. To express the aggregate, the properties of both intact rock and rock mass should be considered. In this study, therefore, parameters for rock mass description are classified into rock strength and rock structure. Indices for parameters evaluation are obtained from old method and the strength and structure property of rock is described by using those indices. Value of 25 is allocated to each parameter obtained. $RMR_{basic}$ =0.86(X=Method)+14.47 is derived between $RMR_{basic}$ and this study and $RMR^*$ = 0.87(X-Method)+9.20 is derived between revised RMR and this study. Coefficient of determination is $R^2$=0.841 and $R^2$=0.846 each.

Suggestion of the Relative Elevation Analysis Methods for Conservation of Local Topography : Focused on Analysis Range (지역규모의 지형경관 보전을 위한 상대고도 분석 방법론 제안 : 분석범위 설정을 중심으로)

  • Given the structure of Korean mountains, it is more appropriate to apply the relative elevation method than the absolute elevation method. However, so far there were not suitable quantitative methodologies to analyze relative elevation, these analytical concepts were difficult to be utilized in urban environmental planning. This study suggested three methods for analyzing relative elevation, and one method for setting the analytical scope of relative elevation by calculating terrain relief. The results showed that the procedure considering 500m radius of each point and standardizing to 30% of the 7th height ridge was the most effective method to extract the local topography. This methodology is the quantitative tool to be able to conserve local important hills and ridges, and apply to fields of urban environmental planning and ecological restoration, especially urban ecological network.

  • This study is designed to grope for logical methods in the decision-making process of human beings such as creation and analysis. With this in mind, the paper worked with a process where the designers of a design team gather and analyze their opinions in a design process to decide on the HVAC system of buildings. The paper introduced the fuzzy theory, or one of the methods to quantitatively describe language values with ambiguous features, suggesting a method to determine the judgement and suggestion values of the HVAC designers with the characteristics of language variables as the values of design factors greatly influencing the HVAC system. As a result, the paper tested the possibility of the fuzzy system as a logical method to gather the judgement of HVAC designers in a stage of HVAC type selection exerting a great influence on the experience and judgement of the designers and having powerful linguistic features and to determine an appropriate HVAC type which can satisfy the suggested values of related design factors.

  • Ground vibration at Gil-dong in Seoul induced by the 5th ling of Seoul Subway is predicted using various prediction methods and compared with measured vibration. Also, several issues on the improvement of prediction methods are discussed. Furthermore, as an alternative vibration source, measured vibration acceleration level(VAL) on the tunnel wall of the Bundang line of Seoul Subway is applied to the prediction of the VAL at the location mentioned previously. Then requirements accompanied to the suggestion of the new vibration source appropriate to the condition of Seoul Subway.

  • Team standings in the regular professional baseball league should be determined based on a reasonable criterion; however, an unreasonable Japanese method is being used in Korea as of 2011. In this paper, we suggest a new method of computing the percentage of victories constructed by combining the advantages of the methods to determine team standings used in Korean professional baseball. We also have applied preexistent methods and suggested method to past and present Korean professional baseball data.

  • There has been a suggestion of many techniques as the methods of diagnosis for rotational machinery. In this study, HFRT was used as the analysis method for ball bearing of automobile and was compared with the conventional ANC technique. And this paper presented the computer simulation process about fault types and noise for the validity of the algorithm and identification of the physical meanings of HFRT. Also, experiment was performed using ball bearing and the results showed that HFRT was much more effective than the conventional methods in diagnostic process.

  • The objective of this paper is to suggest formula of Concrete Filled Tube Beam-Column members maximum strength by using of numerical analysis and tests. The numerical analysis results are compared with test results for evaluating numerical analysis method. The formula of Limit State Design of Architectural Institute of KOREA is used for basic form of suggestion formula. In order to suggest formula, two methods are used. One is to use the coefficient, and the other is to use the amplified factor of material strength. The formula by two methods are compared with numerical analysis results.

A Study on the Research Tendency of the Theses in the KIID Journal (한국실내디자인 학회지에 게재된 논문의 연구경향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the tendency of 272 theses which published in the Korean institute of interior design journal from 1992.4 to 1999.6. The major finding were summarized as follows; 1) The subjects of the these in the journal were mostly related to design solution or design theory. Therefore, more theses for design history or human behavior are needed for the future. 2) The purposes of the these in the journal were classified into two groups, first; grasp and investigation of the phenomenon in the design or design related theory, second; suggestion of problem solving ideas in the design or design related study. There were 6 categories in each group and the diversified research purpose in the theses is very desirable trend for the future development in interior design studies or industry. 3) The research methods of the theses in the journal were literature research, experimental research, survey research and design research. The data collection methods in the KIID journal is similar to the that of field, natural science or social science.

  • More efficient use of the battery pack is dependent upon how to measure the remaining capacity of the battery accurately. Among various measurement methods, the basic correction measurement method has still been a hot research topic area to reduce the errors. In this paper, the problems of the existing methods have been investigated and the research direction for measuring more accurate remaining capacity has been suggested by applying the numerical simulations in the future.

  • This study is about the suggestion of reduction method for social insurance cost of startup SMEs based on the study abroad. We suggest several methods (direct and indirect support, exemption, deferment or loan) based on the pros and cons, government's financial situation, the ease of implementation and effectiveness of mitigation methods, creating conditions for the implementation of social insurance mitigation.
