  • Six kinds of canned processed fish-balls were collected from the local market of Korea in April, 1975 and frozen section was prepared with the fish-balls at $-25^{\circ}C$ , coincidently stained with PAS, sudan III, carbol-thionine and light green for histochemical observation on evaluation of materials and quality of the porducts. The results tased on morphological analysis were summarized as follows. Protein contents were showed the lowest level, ranging about $2.7-9.0\%$, while carbohydrate was contained from $58.1\%\;to\;75.2\%$ of the highest degree. Fat contents had a great variety depending upon the quality of porducts, showing $1.4-17.6\%$, and air bubble was contained from $14.4\%\;to\;21.1\%$, tended to a large quantity. In sample No. 6, the micro-organism3 were observed around the denaturated prtotein, carbohydrate, and air bubbles in canned fish-ball. When the other samples were incubated for 4 days at $37^{\circ}C$, bacterial colony was also formed around the denaturated protein, carbohydrate, and air bubbles in cavities.

  • Present experiments were undertaken in order to find out the most available diagnostic method for acute pancreatitis. Experimental dogs were divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental dogs were laparotomized and their pancreatic ducts were ligated for the induction of pancreatitis. The control dogs were laparotomized only for comparison. In addition to the complete blood count, serum amylase and lipase activities, serum glucose, total protein and albumin contents were measured daily for 11 days after the operation. Fecal fat droplet count by Sudan III staining and fecal trypsin activity examination by x-ray film digetion test were also undertaken daily. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Serum amylase activities of the experimental group increased to peak on the third day and returned to the preoperative values on the eighth day. 2. Serum lipase activities of the experimental group increased to peak on the first day and returned to the preopertive values within six to eight days. 3. Serum glucose contents of the experimental group showed significant increse only on the first day. 4. Serum albumin contents of the experimental group decreased significantly during the experimental period. Whereas those of the control group significantly decreased only on the first day. 5. The experimental group showed marked leukocytosis, neutrophilia, and lymphopenia for the first 5 or 8 days. Whereas the control group showed only neutrophilia for the first 3 days. 6. The results of fecal fat droplet count showed some diagnostic value on the third and fourth day in only one experimental dog(No 1). No significant changes in the fecal trypsin activity were noticed in all dogs. 7. Histopathologically. all dogs of experimental group showed changes of pancreatitis. However the degree of the pancreatic lesion was not pararell to the degree of the serum amylase or lipase activity changes.

  • This study was investigated hazardous substances in agricultural products of baggage by Incheon Port from chinese. We tested 293 kinds of dried red pepper, cereal, sesame, bean, nut, herbal medicine and sesame oil for pesticides residue, mold, tar color, sudan I, II, III, IV, aflatoxin, Pb, Cd, Hg, As and sulfur dioxide residues. Violated samples over standard limits by Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) were 76 dried red pepper over the number of mold and 1 dried red pepper detected red 102 tar color and 1 dried red pepper over the number of mold and detected red 102 tar color simultaneously. And 2 rice, 1 sticky rice, 1 adlay and 1 millet were over lead. Violated herbal medicine were 2 Zizyphi Furctus and 2 Zingiberis Rhizoma over sulfur dioxide residue and 1 Zingiberis Rhizoma over sulfur dioxide residue and cadmium simultaneously. The contents of heavy metals in cereal were as follow; $Pb\;0.000{\sim}0.740mg/kg(0.191{\pm}0.209),\;Cd\;0.000{\sim}0.108mg/kg(0.007{\pm}0.020),\;Hg\;0.000{\sim}4.201mg/kg(0.162{\pm}0.319)$. The contents of heavy metals in herbal medicine were as follow; $Pb\;0.000{\sim}2.480mg/kg(1.130{\pm}0.730),\;Cd\;0.000{\sim}0.761mg/kg(0.044{\pm}0.122),\;Hg\;0.000{\sim}0.157mg/kg(0.022{\pm}0.033),\;As\;0.000{\sim}0.560mg/kg(0.040{\pm}0.082)$. Contents of $SO_2$ ranged $2.0{\sim}1459.4ppm(303.1{\pm}324.2)$.
