  • Recently, demand for embedded systems requiring low power and high specifications has been increasing, and RISC-V processors are being widely applied. RISC-V, a RISC-based open instruction set architecture (ISA), has been developed and researched by UC Berkeley and other researchers since 2010. RV32I ISA is sufficient to support integer operations such as addition and subtraction instructions, but M-extension should be defined for multiplication and division instructions. This paper proposes an RV32I, RV32IM processor, and indicates benchmark performance scores compared to an existing processor. Additionally, A non-stalling method was proposed to support a 2-stage pipelined DSP multiplier to the 5-stage pipelined RV32IM processor. Proposed RV32I and RV32IM processors satisfied a maximum operating frequency of 50 MHz on Artix-7 FPGA. The performance of the proposed processors was verified using benchmark programs from Dhrystone and Coremark. As a result, the Coremark benchmark results of the proposed processor showed that it outperformed the existing RV32IM processor by 23.91%.

  • Dural arteriovenous fistula is an acquired vascular anomaly that can cause various symptoms. Here, we report a rare case of Borden type I sigmoid sinus dural arteriovenous fistula presenting as subarachnoid hemorrhage. Bleeding occurred from a side-wall aneurysm in the lateral pontomedullary segment of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery, which was a minor pial feeder. Features on imaging modalities, including brain CT, CT angiography, MR imaging/angiography and digital subtraction angiography, are described with a literature review.

  • Precise evaluation of the feeders, fistulous points, and draining veins plays a key role for successful embolization of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVF). Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a gold standard diagnostic tool to assess the exact angioarchitecture of DAVFs. With the advent of new image postprocessing techniques, we lately have been able to apply image fusion techniques with two different image sets obtained with flat panel detector rotational angiography. This new technique can provide additional and better pretherapeutic information of DAVFs over the conventional 2D and 3D angiographies. In addition, it can be used during the endovascular treatment to help the accurate and precise navigation of the microcatheter and microguidwire inside the vessels and identify the proper location of microcatheter in the targeted shunting pouch. In this study, we briefly review the process of an image fusion technique and introduce our clinical application for treating DAVFs, especially focused on the transvenous embolization.

  • Intracranial non-galenic pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is an extremely rare vascular malformation, where one or more pial arteries feeds directly into a cortical vein without any intervening nidus. Though occasionally they can be asymptomatic, neurological symptoms such as headache, seizure, or focal neurological deficit are more common presenting features. Life threatening or fatal hemorrhage is not uncommon, hence needed to be treated more often than not. Spontaneous occlusion of PAVF is reported only four times before. We report a 49-year-old gentleman, who was diagnosed to have a PAVF, possibly secondary to trauma. He presented 5 months and 22 days from initial digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for treatment, and follow-up angiogram showed complete obliteration. He denied any significant event, medication or alternate treatment during this period. His clinical symptoms were stable as well. We postulate iodinated contrast medium induced vasculopathy as a possible cause, which has been described for other vascular pathologies, but never for PAVF.

  • In this study, an image acquired by the DSA(Digital Subtraction Angiography) system that is configured to configure the algorithm for high pass filtering algorithm experiments to improve the quality of angiography methods proposed. high pass filter is a high-frequency components pass through the filter, blocking low-frequency components. Part of the boundary line and contour of the organ corresponds to the high-frequency component is a high-frequency component of a medical image. Therefore, the high pass filter is also used for detection of the boundary line, but is also used for the high frequency enhancement. It was able to be analyzed by the proposed algorithm, to improve the quality of the angiography. Found out that the expression of the target site stand out clearly. The quality of the DSA system proposed in the wrong diagnosis software can be used to reduce, it is possible to develop and will further improve the accuracy of the treatment.

  • In this paper, a new onto-digital stereo object-tracking system using hierarchical digital algorithms and optical BPEJTC is proposed. This proposed system can adaptively track a moving target by controlling the convergence of stereo camera. firstly, the target is detected through the background matching of the sequential input images by using optical BPEJTC and then the target area is segmented by using the target projection mask which is composed by hierarchical digital processing of image subtraction, logical operation and morphological filtering. Secondly, the location's coordinate of the moving target object for each of the sequential input frames can be extracted through carrying out optical BPEJTC between the reference image of the target region mask and the stereo input image. Finally, the convergence and pan/tilt of stereo camera can be sequentially controlled by using these target coordinate values and the target can be kept in tracking. Also, a possibility of real-time implementation of the adaptive stereo object tracking system is suggested through optically implementing the proposed target extraction and convergence control algorithms.

  • We present new constraints on the cosmic optical background (COB) obtained from an analysis of the Pioneer 10/11 Imaging Photopolarimeter (IPP) data. After careful examination of the data quality, the usable measurements free from the zodiacal light are integrated into sky maps at the blue (${\sim}0.44{\mu}m$) and red (${\sim}0.64{\mu}m$) bands. Accurate starlight subtraction was achieved by referring to all-sky star catalogs and a Galactic stellar population synthesis model down to 32.0 mag. We find that the residual light is separated into two components: one component shows a clear correlation with the thermal $100{\mu}m$ brightness, whilst the other shows a constant level in the lowest $100{\mu}m$ brightness region. The presence of the second component is significant after all the uncertainties and possible residual light in the Galaxy are taken into account, thus it most likely has an extragalactic origin (i.e., the COB). The derived COB brightness is ($(1.8{\pm}0.9){\times}10^{-9}$ and $(1.2{\pm}0.9){\times}10^{-9}\;erg\;s^{-1}\;cm^{-2}\;sr^{-1}\;{\AA}^{-1}$ in the blue and red spectral regions, respectively, or $7.9{\pm}4.0$ and $7.7{\pm}5.8\;nW\;m^{-2}\;sr^{-1}$. Based on a comparison with the integrated brightness of galaxies, we conclude that the bulk of the COB is comprised of normal galaxies which have already been resolved by the current deepest observations. There seems to be little room for contributions from other populations including "first stars" at these wavelengths. On the other hand, the first component of the IPP residual light represents the diffuse Galactic light (DGL)-scattered starlight by the interstellar dust. We derive the mean DGL-to-$100{\mu}m$ brightness ratios of $2.1{\times}10^{-3}$ and $4.6{\times}10^{-3}$ at the two bands, which are roughly consistent with previous observations toward denser dust regions. Extended red emission in the diffuse interstellar medium is also confirmed.

  • We propose a variable-latency Decimal Floating Point(DFP) adder which adopts the dual data path scheme. It is to speed addition and subtraction of operand that has identical exponents. The proposed DFP adder makes use of L. K. Wang's operand alignment algorithm, but operates through high speed data-path in guaranteed accuracy range. Synthesis results show that the area of the proposed DFP adder is increased by 8.26% compared to the L. K. Wang's DFP adder, though critical path delay is reduced by 10.54%. It also operates at 13.65% reduced path than critical path in case of an operation which has two DFP operands with identical exponents. We prove that the proposed DFP adder shows higher efficiency than L. K. Wang's DFP adder when the ratio of identical exponents is larger than 2%.

  • This paper presents an efficient object selection algorithm by analyzing and detecting of human activity. Generally, when people point any something, they will put a face on the target direction. Therefore, the direction of the face and fingers and was ordered to be connected to a straight line. At first, in order to detect the moving objects from the input frames, we extract the interesting objects in real time using background subtraction. And the judgment of movement is determined by Principal Component Analysis and a designated time period. When user is motionless, we estimate the user's indication by estimation in relation to vector from the head to the hand. Through experiments using the multiple views, we confirm that the proposed algorithm can estimate the movement and indication of user more efficiently.
