  • In this paper we propose new approximate method for the performance analysis of closed-loop production system with unreliable machines and random processing times. The approximate method decomposes the production system consisting of K machines into a set of K subsystems, each subsystem consisting of two machines separated by a finite buffer. Then, each subsystem is analyzed by analyzing method n isolation. The population constraint of the closed-loop production system is taken into account by prescribing that the sum of average buffer level in the subsystems is equal to the number of customers in the closed-loop production system,. We establish a set of equations that characterizes unknown parameters of the servers in the subsystems. An iterative procedure is then used to determine the unknown parameters. Experimental results show that these methods provide a good estimation of the throughput.

  • In order to not only perform as a extreme model under the severe operating condition but also acquire more diverse and advanced control capability utilizing high compliance, active vibration control of a flexible 2-link robot manipulator are investigated. Multi variable-structured frequency shaped optimal sliding mode is proposed for the flexible robot manipulator like control system, whose control variables, an angular motion of joint and vibration of flexible link, have to be controlled simultaneously by one control torque at a driving joint. The control system is divided into two subsystems, a control input related subsystem and an added subsystem. The proposed sliding mode, composed of multi control variables, makes optimized relation between subsystems and a individual control input, thus, the sliding mode controller can compensate whole dynamics of each subsystems simultaneously. And the possibility and effectiveness are verified by vibration control of a manipulator having two flexible links. Simulation and experiment results show that the proposed control scheme achieves the purpose effectively.

  • In this paper we propose new approximate methods for the performance analysis of closed-loop production systems with unreliable machines and random processing times. Each approximate method decomposes the production system consisting of K machines into a set of K subsystems, each subsystem consisting of two machines separated by a finite buffer. Then, each subsystem is analyzed by three different analyzing methods in isolation. The population constraint of the closed-loop production system is taken into account by prescribing that the sum of average buffer levels in the subsystems is equal to the number of customers in the closed-loop production system. We establish a set of equations that characterize unknown parameters of the servers in the subsystems. An iterative procedure is then used to determine the unknown parameters. • This paper deals with the design of heat dissipation system using the forced air cooling method. It suggests the method of appropriately dividing the whole thermodynamic system into analytical subsystems and also presents the correspondent analytic or experimental equations to subsystems. The experimental results on the designed thermodynamic system for 400kw 1GBT inverter show the validity of the proposed design method in the steady state.

  • In this paper, we study the stabilization problem of switched systems with both controllable and uncontrollable subsystems. By using an average dwell time approach, we first establish a sufficient condition such that the switched system is exponentially stabilizable under appropriate switching signals. We also extend this result to the switched system with nonlinear impulse effects and disturbances. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • This paper presents a decentralized model reference adaptive control scheme for an interconnected continuous linear system composed of a number of single-input single-output subsystems in which outgoing interactions pass through the measurement channel and are subject to bounded external disturbance. The scheme can treat the unknown strength of interactions as well as the uncertainty of subsystems.

  • The development of an unmanned vehicle basically requires the robust and reliable performance of major functions which include global localization, lane detection, obstacle avoidance, path planning, etc. The implementation of major functional subsystems are possible by integrating and fusing data acquired from various sensory systems such as GPS, vision, ultrasonic sensor, encoder, and electric compass. This paper focuses on implementing the functional subsystems, which are designed and developed by a graphical programming tool, NI LabVIEW, and also verifying the autonomous navigation and remote control of the unmanned vehicle.

  • This paper is to suggest reliability modeling and analysis method of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU). It is necessary to identify subsystem/equipments of EMU and functional interfaces between subsystems in order to carry out reliability modeling of EMU properly. After identifying subsystem/equipments and functional interface, reliability allocation is performed using ARINC method. Reliability target of system/subsystems is verified in revenue service during the proper periods.

  • The Korean government has made efforts to establish ITS (Intelligent Transport System) strategic plans and to implement ITS. Commercial Vehicle Operation (CVO) has been developed in Korea as one of five subsystems in ITS and also in the context of Integrated Logistics Information Systems (ILIS). A low-level strategic plan of CVO is fixed on October, 1997, which has two subsystems and six major services. In this paper, services, requirements and information technologies for CVO are introduced as well as operational tests, deployment cases and cost-effectiveness.

  • In this paper we define fuzzy subsystems of a fuzzy finite state machine by using maps $S^{\alpha}$ of each state subset to its all $\alpha$-successors, which is a natural generalization of crisp submachines as fuzzy. And the corresponding concepts are also examined. also examined.
