This study describes thermal performance of heating and cooling demonstration system using ETSC(Evacuated tubular solar collector) installed at Seo-gu art center of Kwangju. For demonstration study, a reading room with about $331m^2$ was heated and cooled using that system. The demonstration system was consisted of ETSCs, storage tank, hot water supply tank, subsidiary boiler, and subsidiary tank. From January to March in 2006, demonstration test were performed with 4 control mode to find the optimum control condition for solar thermal system. After experiments and analysis, this study found that solar thermal system of control mode IV was corresponded to 78% for the hot water supply and 49% for space heating.
Coolant mixing under natural circulation flow regime constitutes a key parameter that may play a role in the course of an accidental transient in a nuclear pressurized water reactor. This issue has motivated some experimental investigations carried out within the OECD/NEA PKL projects. The aim was to assess the coolant mixing phenomenon in the reactor pressure vessel downcomer and the core lower plenum under several asymmetric steady and unsteady flow conditions, and to provide experimental data for code validations. Former studies addressed the mixing phenomenon using, on the one hand, one-dimensional computational approaches with cross flows that are not fully validated under transient conditions and, on the other hand, expensive computational fluid dynamic tools that are not always justified for large-scale macroscopic phenomena. In the current framework, an unsteady coolant mixing experiment carried out in the Rossendorf coolant mixing test facility is simulated using the three-dimensional porous media capabilities of the thermal-hydraulic system CATHARE code. The current study allows highlighting the current capabilities of these codes and their suitability for reproducing the main phenomena occurring during asymmetric transient natural circulation mixing conditions.
Purpose - This research examines the effect of a foreign subsidiary on the productivity growth of a Two-way trading manufacturing firm in Korea. We explore firms engaged in both trade and FDI simultaneously to verify whether participation in GVC as a broad concept is an efficient internationalization strategy to increase the productivity of a Korean manufacturing firm. Design/methodology - Based on the firm-level data by utilizing the Survey of Business Activities from Statistics Korea, we examine the impact of vertically integrated foreign subsidiaries on the productivity of a manufacturing firm that exports and imports simultaneously. Findings - The results show that if a Two-way trading firm establishes one or more overseas subsidiaries, the total factor productivity growth increases. Moreover, the FDI effect is statistically significant when the destination country has an economically close relationship with Korea. However, these effects are disparate depending on the industrial competitiveness or market situation where the subsidiary is located. Nonetheless, the synergy effect resulting from industrial combination is represented in China and the USA only. Originality/value - As the importance of GVC has become more emphasized around the world. In spite of the scarcity of related domestic studies, we explored the effect of multinational manufacturing firms participating in GVC using firm-level data.
As the safety level of nuclear power plants (NPPs) relates to the safety of individuals, society, and the environment, it is important to establish NPP safety goals. In Korea, two quantitative health objectives and one large release frequency (LRF) criterion were formally set as quantitative safety goals for NPPs by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission in 2016. The risks of prompt and cancer fatalities from NPPs should be less than 0.1% of the overall risk, and the frequency of nuclear accidents releasing more than 100 TBq of Cs-137 should not exceed 1E-06 per reactor year. This paper reviews the hierarchical structure of safety goals in Korea, its relationship with those of other countries, and the relationships among safety goals and subsidiary criteria like core damage frequency and large early release frequency. By analyzing the effect of the release of 100 TBq of Cs-137 via consequence analysis codes in eight different accident scenarios, it was shown that meeting the LRF criterion results in negligible prompt fatalities in the surrounding area. Hence, the LRF criterion dominates the safety goals for Korean NPPs. Safety goals must be consistent with national policy, international standards, and the goals of other counties.
Technology transfer from a multinational company to a local subsidiary is essential for successful local market operations. This study aims to analyze the impact of market, cultural and institutional environmental factors on international technology transfer and innovation performance based on the S-C-P paradigm. We collected data from one hundred ninety-five subsidiaries of Korean parent firms located in seventeen countries and used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses. The analysis findings are as follow; First, both market and cultural environment directly affect international technology transfer. However, institutional environment such as protection of intellectual property does not affect international technology transfer. Due to the less risk of technology disclosure involved in technology transfer within the MNE organization can be not relationship between protection of intellectual property in the host country and the foreign subsidiary's transfer of technology. The risk of infringement of intellectual property is relatively low in intra-firm transfer of technology. Second, the technology introduced from the parent company has a positive effect on the innovation performance of local subsidiaries. This implies that multinational companies that have entered unfamiliar overseas markets should be able to effectively transfer the inherent advantages of the parent company to their overseas subsidiaries, and that their ability to adapt to the local environment is important.
Purpose - With the increasing uncertainty of China's domestic political and economic environment in recent years, Korean MNC subsidiaries in the Chinese market face greater challenges and competition. Based on the insufficiency of existing research and the need for enterprise management practices, this paper uses the Chinese subsidiaries of Korean MNCs as an example to study and explore how knowledge management and dynamic capabilities affect ambidextrous innovation and the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and subsidiary performance. Design/methodology - From January to March 2019, this study collected 341 valid questionnaires using a survey company specializing in China for the members of the Chinese subsidiaries of Korean MNCs to verify the hypotheses. Using the collected data, the study model was verified using the Smart PLS 3.0 statistical package. Findings - Knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing have positive effects on dynamic capabilities and ambidextrous innovation, and dynamic capabilities have a positive impact on ambidextrous innovation. Ambidextrous innovation has been shown to have a significant effect on subsidiary performance. In addition, a partial mediating effect of dynamic capabilities on the relationship between knowledge management and ambidexterity innovation was found. Originality/value - In the academic context, this paper contributes theoretically to the relationship between knowledge management and ambidextrous innovation, as well as the mechanism of dynamic capability, and to verify the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and corporate performance. Against the background of MNC management, the results of this study provide further enlightenment for managers of subsidiaries.

Recent color plans in school buildings are made by experts through public offerings for prizes for designs etc in relatively many cases. But it is necessary to review if such color plans are actually well conform to students' emotions and what trend the color plans made as such have. Therefore, this study examined and analyzed the exterior colors of the school buildings planned by public offerings for prizes for designs and reviewed the result comparing to the color preferences of students that had already been studied to figure out the differences between existing theories and the realities. And it was examined what differences were existing in the trends of color plans and color images examined between each of school levels. The result of the study compared to theories is as follows. First, when the color distributions were reviewed for each school level, it could be confirmed that the overall distributions moved from Y category to B category and whereas warm colors were more widely distributed and the number of colors were greater compared to cold colors in case of elementary schools, the distributions of warm colors gradually decreased as school level moves to high schools. Second, the color use distributions of elementary school students were revealed to be more diversified than middle and high school students and also the number of colors used was 9.5 in average in elementary school and middle schools and high schools were similar to each other with average 5.86 colors in middle schools and 6.33 colors in high schools showing a little differences in color use distributions among school levels of elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Third, in case of elementary schools, except main colors, both of subsidiary colors and emphasizing colors had the distributions of warm colors of R, YR, Y categories and cold colors of B, PB categories and this is also consistent with the results of existing research results indicating that low grade students prefor for warm colors and high grade students prefer for cold colors. Fourth, in case of middle schools and high schools, although the distributions of warm colors decreased, the distributions of warm colors and cold colors were revealed to be similar. This is considered to be consistent with the existing research results indicating that girl students prefer for warm colors even if their ages go up. Fifth, as for the images of main colors, subsidiary colors and emphasizing colors resulted from the comparisons by solid color Image Scales and adjective Image Scales, first, in case of main colors, natural images or clear images appeared the most in all of elementary schools, middle schools and high schools indicating that basically calmness is emphasized with soft images rather than hard images and static images rather than dynamic images. Also, in case of subsidiary colors or emphasizing colors, cheerful images or splendid images are also seen to decrease as school level goes from elementary schools to high schools in adjective Image Scales and this is considered to reflect the color sentiment differences between children and juveniles based on ages.
The objective of this study has two filds. The first is to examine the effect of native employee's psychological capital on their pro-social organizational behavior in the context of a local subsidiary in abroad. The second is to investigate the moderation effect of non-native managers' leadership type in the relationships between psychological capital and pro-social organizational behavior. The researcher provides the theoretical research model based on the pro-social capital theory and then empirically tests the model by using a valid 334-case collected from three overseas-affiliated-companies in Philippines. The results show that native employees' psychological capital positively and significantly influences to pro-social organizational behavior. Moreover, non-native managers' type of leaderships has the significant moderation effects in relationships between native workers' psychological capital and pro-social organizational behavior. Specifically, stronger relationships are identified in all of relationships when the managers show transactional, transformational and authentic leaderships. Theoretical contributions and practical recommendations are also discussed based on the results of the study.
This study was performed to evaluate the subsidiary program on occupational health services in small scale industries. The survey of occupational health services was undertaken in 346 industries from July 1 to August 31. 1994. The major results were as follows ; 1. The subsidiary program on occupational health services The evaluation of working environments were conducted in 305 industries, $42.3\%$ of the industries had the harzardous agents exeeding TLV. Special medical examinations were done in 310 industries. the results were detected $C(33.3\%).\;D_1(0.8\%), D_2(5.4\%)$. Health management were done in 341 industries, the average visits for a industry were 3.8 times. The activities of health management were included to check of the workplace. health education, health counselling, etc. 2. The recognition of the employees and employers on occupational health services $91.5\%$ of employers and $87.0\%$ of workers felt healthy themselves. But $39.7\%$ of employers and $21.2\%$ of workers were under the stress from their jobs or home affairs. The workers perceived more harmful for the hazardous agents than the employers. $32.8\%$ of employers and $42.9\%$ of workers perceived that employer's efforts were the most important things to protect for the hazardous agents. The result of the evaluation of working environments were understood by $57.3\%$ of employers and $24.5\%$ of workers. The notification of medical examinations were recognized $83.9\%$ of employers and $50.3\%$ of workers. Many employers and workers felt the necessities of health management in small scale industries. The priorities of health manegement were different between employers and workers. Employers' priorities were as follows ; follow up care of medical examination$(97.3\%)$, health counselling$(93.7\%)$, planning of health$(93.5\%)$, health education of occupational diseases$(93.2\%)$, health education of chronic diseases$(93.5\%)$, etc. Workers' priorities were as follows ; follow up care$(93.4\%)$, health counselling$(94.3\%)$, health education of occupational diseases$(93.0\%)$. first aids$(92.0\%)$. etc.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of various subsidiary ingredients added to Kimchi on the acceptance and sensory characteristics. In appearance acceptance, Kimchi without red pepper powder rated the worst, while samples without salt-fermented anchovy extracts, garlic, ginger, radish, green onion and onion showed no significant difference(p<0.05) compared with the control, and were all rated highly in acceptance. In flavor, taste and overall acceptance, the sample without garlic rated the worst, indicating that garlic has the greatest effect on the acceptance of Kimchi. Red pepper powder had an effect only on the pungency of Kimchi's flavor characteristics. Salt-fermented anchovy extracts enhanced umami taste, sweetness and saltiness of Kimchi. Garlic also enhanced the general flavor such as sourness, umami taste, sweetness, carbonated flavor and fresh flavor, but inhibited the moldy flavor. Ginger had effects on pungency, fresh flavor of Kimchi, while radish, green onion and onion only had an effect on the fresh flavor of Kimchi. Garlic had significant effects on the moldy flavor and bitterness of Kimchi's sensory characteristics, and the amount of garlic added to Kimchi influenced the sourness, sweetness and fresh flavor, irrespective of the kinds of Kimchi and fermentation temperature.
