The effects of social positive affect and agreeableness on perspective taking and positive coping (사회적 긍정정서와 친화성이 조망수용과 긍정적 대처에 미치는 영향)

  • Common theories of affect underscore valence and arousal dimensions or specific emotion. However, given the role of affect in transacting social behavior, sociality may determine the subjective experience and interpersonal response to positive stimuli. The current study examined the relationships between social positive affect and perspective taking as well as positive coping. One potential moderating effect of agreeableness on these relations was also examined. In two experiments, film segments induced socially and non-socially generated positive affects. We hypothesized and found that positive affect associated with sociality would enhance perspective taking ability and positive coping, while non-social positive affect would not. Moreover, these effects varied as a function of the level of agreeableness. These findings suggest that the social/non-social dimension influenced which positive affects elicited perspective taking and positive coping, which could not be explained by differences in subjective emotional valence or arousal. Taken together, these findings have important implications, as they point toward a previously overlooked relation linking sociality to positive affect.

Emotional Preference Modulates Autonomic and Cortical Responses to Tactile Stimulation (촉각자극에 의한 자율신경계 및 뇌파 반응과 감성)

  • The purpose of the current study was comparative analysis of autonomic and electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the tektites with different subjective emotional preference. Perspective goal of the project is development of a template for classification of tactile stimuli according to subjective comfort and associated physiological manifestations. The study was carried out on 36 female college students. Physiological signals were acquired by Grass and B10PAC 100 systems with AcqKnowledge III software. Frontal, parietal and occipital EEG (relative power spectrum /percents/ of EEG bands - delta, theta, slow and fast alpha, low and fast beta), and autonomic variables, namely heart rate (HR), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), pulse transit time (PTT), respiration rate (RSP) and skin conductance parameters (SCL, amplitude, rise time and number of SCRs) were analyzed for rest baseline and stimulation conditions. Analysis of the overall pattern of reaction indicated that autonomic response to tactile stimulation was manifested in a form of moderate HR acceleration, RSP increase, RSA decrease (lowered vagal tone), decreased n and increased electrodermal activity (increased SCL, several SCRs) that reflects general sympathetic activation. Parietal EEG effects (on contra-lateral side to stimulated hand) were featured by short-term alpha-blocking, slightly reduced theta and significantly increased delta and enhanced fast beta activity with few variations across stimuli. The main finding of the study was that most and least preferred textures exhibited significant differences in autonomic (HR, RSP, PTT, SCR, and at less extent in RSA and SCL) and electrocortical responses (delta, slow and fast alpha, fast beta relative power). These differences were recorded both in passive and active stimulation modes, thus demonstrating reproducibility of distinction between most and least emotionally preferred tactile stimuli, suggesting influence of psychological factors, such as emotional property of stimulus, on physiological outcome. Nevertheless, development of sufficiently sensitive .and reliable template for classification of emotional responses to tactile stimulation based on physiological response pattern may require more extensive empirical database.

  • The most common method in the psychological measuring method for measuring user's emotions is to indirectly measure the user's emotion by using adjectives, called emotional words. The previous research, in order to observe user's emotional changes while they interact with a product, has extracted some emotional words and representative emotions, and made a set of subjective evaluation scale. In addition to adjective checklists, self-report questionnaire-type scales have been extensively used to assess user's emotions. This research suggested a self-report questionnaire-type scale using the representative emotions and a set of subjective evaluation scale made in the previous research. Also the reliability of the suggested self-report questionnaire-type scale was confirmed through the analysis of Cronbach's coefficient alpha. Therefore, the self-report questionnaire-type scale extracted through this research can be used in various ways to measure a user's user's emotions naturally expressed while using a product.

Evaluation of the Odor with Aging (연령증가에 따른 향의 평가)

  • It is already known that olfactory susceptibility differ with races and sex. Moreover, with aging both detection and identification about olfactory information were impaired. For researches about evaluation of the odor with aging, although the subject used, from infants to elderly, was various, the kinds of odor used were restricted to simple alcohol and acetic acid. Also, the evaluation methods were mainly used olfactory test. From over respects , this research was done as follows. Subjects were 19 to 72 years (n=50) whose sense-of-smell functions are normal. They were taken as stability and closed eye state. The odor stimuli were used 100% natural odor of six kinds of Basil, Lavender, Lemon, Jasmine, Ylangylang oil and Skatole , during 60 seconds using olfactometer. ECG, GSR and subjective evaluation were measured, and examined their relevance. Twenty and 40 ages group evaluated Lemon and 60 ages group did Lavender affirmatively. Correlation was seen among RRI, HR, GSR and subjective evaluation for 40 ages group, and it turns out that it is the group which a mature olfactory function most. These results are fully applied not only to development of the classified cosmetics for the age group but to development of the artificial smell and taste.

  • The sense of touch has both objective and subjective characteristics. During hand evaluation of the fabrics. psycho physiological processes such as emotion and stimulation. On other site, the mode of touch (passive vs. active) is also capable to modulate somatosensory responses. I.e., suppress somatocensory perception during active electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the textiles with different subjective emotional preference. The study was carried out on 36 female college students.   • A frictional coefficients of in-vivo skin characteristic is the most important factor of the cutaneous mechanical properties ant the method of evaluating skin care in the fields of cosmetics products. In-vivo skin characteristic varies in many different ways depends on what is applied to the skin, loading condition, shape, surface roughness, and material of the probe. In this research, we designed a system which can be measured frictional coefficients of a human skin on real time. It consists of multi-components load-cell, actuator, linear motor and arm fixator. This measurement system was automatically controlled by computer. We measured frictional coefficients between probe an4 skin using this system ant inquired adjectives for subjective evaluation while rubbing cosmetic product on skin. Lastly, we analyzed correlation between two factors by calculating Pearson Correlation Coefficient. As a result, we could know that frictional coefficients varied from 0.17-1.2 according to cosmetic products, normal forte, materials and surface conditions of probe. We also confirmed sensual feelings of cosmetic products have close correlation with frictional coefficients.

Assessment of the Drivers Sensibility due to the Changes on Speed and Driving Mode of a Vehicle in a Dynamic Simulator (동적 시뮬레이터에서 속도와 운전 형태 변화에 따른 운전자의 감성 평가)

  • The present experiment investigated the possibility of evaluating of the human sensibility contingent on the speed and modes of driving using the responses from the autonomic nervous system, subjective assessments, Simulator Sickness (55) in dynamic simulator. The three conditions of the speed of driving were 40 $\pm$ 10 km/h, 100$\pm$10 km/h, 160 $\pm$ 10 km/h, and the participant was instructed to drive the car for three minutes on the elliptical track. It is programed in such a way that the modes of driving can be changed smoothly using road DB in Dynamic Simulator, and for signifying the change of the condition the road signs were used. The instruction was given to the participant to drive the car on the fixed speed of 20 km/h for 30 seconds, then to drive the car on sudden-start mode of driving from the 20 km/h to 160 km/h within 10 seconds. For the sudden-stop mode of driving, it was instructed that stop the car from the speed of 160km/h to 20km/h within 10 seconds when the subject see the road sign, then drive the car at the fixed speed of 20 km/h for 30 seconds. The results of the subjcetive assessment showed that the level of pleasantness and the tension was increased, and physiological response showed that the level of activity of the autonomic responses were also increased as the speed of the car increased. Also, for results on the driving modes showed that the level of pleasantness was highest for the sudden-stop, next highest was sudden-start, and the lowest was 20 km/h fixed speed condition for the subjective assessment, and tile order of the level of activation of the autonomic nervous system showed the same results as above. From the results of the present study it was concluded that the presentation and evaluation of the stimulus for the human sensitivity is possible in dynamic simulator.

A Comparative Study on the Subjective Sensation and Tactile Preferences for Casual Shirt Fabrics Compared by the Nationality of Female University Students (여대생의 국적에 따른 캐주얼 셔츠 소재의 주관적 감각과 촉감 선호도 비교)

  • This study determines the differences between Korean female university students and their Chinese counterparts residing in Korea by evaluating the subjective sensation and tactile preference in fabrics for casual shirts. Seven types of white causal shirt fabrics were selected as specimens from those available in spring and autumn shirt collection. The fabrics were made from various fibers (cotton 100%, polyester 100%, flax 100%, polyester 80%/cotton 20%, polyester 65%/cotton 35%, polyester 50%/cotton 45%/spandex 5%, and polyester 50%/modal 50%). Forty Korean and Chinese female university students subjectively assessed the subjective sensation of fabrics used for casual shirts. Participants were asked to observe the seven types of fabrics and complete the questionnaire. The subjective sensation to be assessed for white casual shirt fabrics was classified into the following four factors: smoothness, lightness, softness, and stretchiness. Subjective sensation factors showed partially significant differences by nationality. Korean female students evaluated cotton fabric as being light, whereas their Chinese counterparts evaluated the polyester/cotton/spandex blended fabric as light. Korean female students evaluated polyester/modal blended fabric as being stretchable. The tactile preference for fiber composition of the fabrics showed partially significant differences by nationality. Korean female students preferred cotton 80%/polyester 20% blended fabric, polyester 50%/cotton 45%/spandex 5% blended fabric, and flax 100% fabric. The subjective sensation of the fabrics had different effects on preferences by nationality. Smoothness and softness had positive effects on preferences for the fabrics of Korean students. However, smoothness, softness, and stretchiness had positive effects on the preferences of Chinese students. The subjective sensation and tactile preference for casual shirt fabrics showed a difference between Korean female students and their Chinese counterparts. Therefore, when planning casual shirt fabrics for female university students, it is necessary to reflect on these differences in subjective sensation and tactile preference.

Effect of Visual Factor on Subjective Evaluation of Frictional Fabric Sounds (직물 마찰음의 주관적 평가에 시각적 변수가 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 동작 속도별 마찰음의 주관적 평가에 있어서 시각적 변수의 영향을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 현재 유통되고 있는 79 종의 스포츠웨어용 투습발수직물 중 음향 특성으로 계층적 군집분석에 의해 나누어진 3 개의 군집에서 각각 하나씩 추출한 총 3가지 시료를 대상으로 walking, jogging, running의 속도로 마찰시켜 총 9가지의 소리에 대하여 실험하였다. 직물 소리에 대한 주관적 평가 시 시각적 변수의 영향을 분석하기 위하여 두 가지 방법으로 직물 소리에 대한 주관적 반응을 평가하였다. 첫 번째는 기존의 연구에서 주로 이루어진 방법으로, 실험 진행자가 피험자에게 직물소리를 들려주면서 설문을 하게 하였다. 두 번째는 녹음된 직물의 소리와 함께 모니터를 통해 해당 자극물의 마찰 속도에 따라 인체 모델이 움직이는 동작을 보여줌으로써 청각과 시각 자극을 동시에 제시하여 주관적 평가의 자극물로 사용하였다. 주관적 평가는 8개의 형용사 쌍에 대해 의미미분척도로 평가되었고, 두 가지 방법을 비교하기 위하여 '실제 옷을 착용하고 움직일 때 발생하는 직물 소리와 유사하게 들린다.' 와 '옷을 착용하고 움직일 때 발생하는 소리라고 느껴진다.' 두 문항을 추가하여 평가하였다. 그 결과 시각 자극의 유무에 의한 감성평가 결과에는 큰 영향을 미치지는 않았지만, 피험자가 소리만으로 직물이 마찰되는 장면을 의식적으로 상상해야 하는 심리적 부담을 줄여주었고, 주관적 평가 몰입도를 향상시켰다고 사료된다.

Simulator Sickness and Autonomic Responses in dynamic Simulator (동적 시뮬레이터에서 Simulator Sickness와 자율신경계 반응)

  • 본 연구는 시뮬레이터 실험에서 필수적으로 발생하는 Simulator Sickness(SS)를 평가하기 위하여 동적 시뮬레이터에서 일정한 속도(60km/h)로 1시간 주행했을 때 Simulator Sickness Questionnaire(SSQ)를 이용하여 주관적 Sickness를 평가하고 생리적 반응으로 심박 변동량(HRV)과 피부온도 및 피부저항을 측정하여 성별, Simulator 수준에 따라 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 동적 시뮬레이터에서 주행시 주관적인 Simulator Sickness는 안정에 비해 시간이 지남에 따라 45분까지 선형적으로 증가하여UT고, 여자와 sick군이 남자와 nonsick군에 비해 더 높았으며 sickness 수준간에서는 유의성이 나타났지만 남녀간의 유의한 차이는 없었다. 생리적 반응은 시간에 따른 변화는 없었으나 안정에 비해 R-R 간격의 감소, (LF+MF)/total 및 (LF+MF)/HF의 증가로부터 교감 신경이 활성화되었으며 피부온도의 감소와 피부저항의 증가로부터 긴장도가 커짐을 알 수 있었다. 주행 50분 이후는 HF/total가 감소하여 부교감 신경의 작용이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다.. 성별, sickness수준에 따라서는 남녀간에는 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 있었고 평균 R-R 간격에서만 sick군이 nonsick군보다 유의하게 낮았다.
