  • Land-use or land-cover classification of satellite images is one of the important tasks in remote sensing application and many researchers have been tried to enhance classification accuracy. Previous studies show that the classification technique based on wavelet transform is more effective than that of traditional techniques based on original pixel values, especially in complicated imagery. Various wavelets can be used in wavelet transform. Wavelets are used as basis functions in representing other functions, like sinusoidal function in Fourier analysis. In these days, some basis functions such as Haar, Daubechies, Coiflets and Symlets are mainly used in 2D image processing. Selecting adequate wavelet is very important because different results could be obtained according to the type of basis function in classification. However, it is not easy to choose the basis function which is effective to improve classification accuracy. In this study, we computed the wavelet coefficients of satellite image using 10 different basis functions, and then classified test image. After evaluating classification results, we tried to ascertain which basis function is the most effective for image classification. We also tried to see if the optimum basis function is decided by energy parameter before classifying the image using all basis function. The energy parameter of signal is the sum of the squares of wavelet coefficients. The energy parameter is calculated by sub-bands after the wavelet decomposition and the energy parameter of each sub-band can be a favorable feature of texture. The decision of optimum basis function using energy parameter in the wavelet based image classification is expected to be helpful for saving time and improving classification accuracy effectively.

  • In this paper, we propose Multi-view CGH Making System using method of generation of virtual view-point depth image. We acquire reliable depth image using TOF depth camera. We extract parameters of reference-view cameras. Once the position of camera of virtual view-point is defined, select optimal reference-view cameras considering position of it and distance between it and virtual view-point camera. Setting a reference-view camera whose position is reverse of primary reference-view camera as sub reference-view, we generate depth image of virtual view-point. And we compensate occlusion boundaries of virtual view-point depth image using depth image of sub reference-view. In this step, remaining hole boundaries are compensated with minimum values of neighborhood. And then, we generate final depth image of virtual view-point. Finally, using result of depth image from these steps, we generate CGH. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs much better than conventional algorithms.

  • In this paper, we implement a content based image retrieval system for image searching by visual features from the image databases on WWW (world wide web). The image retrieval system finds the images that contain the most similar color regions after the system automatically extracts color features from the input image. We can select one of two query methods which use a full image of $4{\times}4$ 16 sketched color region. The image similarity is calculated on the histogram intersection distance and the histogram Euclidean distance. As the experimental results show that the two different query types provide the precision/recall 0.84/0.92 and 0.85/0.93 respectively, this retrieval system has been able to obtain high performance and validity.

  • This paper proposes a novel watermarking method to discover the tampers and localize it in digital image. The image which is to be used to generate a watermark is first wavelet decomposed and the edge feature from the sub bands of high frequency coefficients are retrieved to generate a watermark (Edge Feature Image) and which is to be embed on the cover image. Before embedding the watermark, the pixels of cover image are disordered through the Arnold Transform and this helps to upgrade the security of the watermark. The embedding of generated edge feature image is done only on the Least Significant Bit (LSB) of the cover image. The invisibleness and robustness of the proposed method is computed using Peak-Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Normalized Correlation (NC) and it proves that the proposed method delivers good results and the proposed method also detects and localizes the tampers efficiently. The invisibleness of proposed method is compared with the existing method and it proves that the proposed method is better.

  • In this study, the characterizations of oxide contact hole etching are investigated with C4F8/O2/Ar and CH2F2/C4F8/O2/ Ar plasma. As the percent composition of C4F8 in a C4F8/O2/Ar mixture increases, the amount of polymer deposited on the etched surface also increases because the CxFy polymer layer retards the reaction of oxygen atoms with PR. Adding CH2F2 into the C4F8/O2/Ar plasma increases the etch rate of the oxide and the selectivity of oxide to PR. The profile of contact holes was close to 90°, and no visible residue was seen in the SEM image at a C4F8/(C4F8+O2) ratio of 58%. The changes of chemical composition in the chamber were analyzed using optical emission spectroscopy, and the chemical reaction on the etched surface was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

  • The development of 2-D radiometer is a new technical challenge for space borne remote sensing area. The Y-type antenna array has been proposed as a most efficient configuration because a large alias free FOV and a small-synthesized beam-width can be achieved compared to L-, T-type under the fixed antenna spacing. New configuration of antenna array, which is called sub-Y type configuration, is proposed to obtain a higher angular resolution than the case of Y-type array in the paper. The sub-Y type array is consisted of basic arrays, which are the Y-type array of four antenna elements. To analyze characteristics of the proposed configuration, the synthesized beam pattern is simulated through simulation. The secondary effect of the sub-Y-type is that the reconstructed image is suffered from the alias effect is appeared around the real target. The ghost targets in the reconstructed image can be reduced by the alias suppression algorithm introduced in this paper. In conclusion, the performance evaluation by use of array factor simulation shows more than 37.5% improvement in average for angular resolution and almost similar performance for temperature resolution.
