This research is a study on student's understanding fundamental concepts of mathematical curriculum, especially in geometry domain. The goal of researching is to analyze student's concepts about that domain and get the mathematical teaching methods. We developed various questions of descriptive assessment. Then we set up the term, procedure of research for the understanding student's knowledge of geometric figures. And we analyze the student's understanding extent through investigating questions of descriptive assessment. In this research, we concluded that most of students are having difficulty with defining the fundamental concepts of mathematics, especially in geometry. Almost all the students defined the fundamental conceptions of mathematics obscurely and sometimes even missed indispensable properties. And they can't distinguish between concept definition and concept image. Prior to this study, we couldn't identify this problem. Here are some suggestions. First, take time to reflect on your previous mathematics method. And then compile some well-selected questions of descriptive assessment that tell us more about student's understanding in geometric concepts.
The purpose of this study was to serve as a basis for more effective sex education, by examining the influence of obscene media on elementary school student's sex consciousness. For attaining the purpose, the research questions were posed as follows: 1) What's general characteristics of elementary school students? 2) How much are elementary school students exposed to obscene media? 3) Is their sex consciousness different according to the degree of being exposed to obscene media and the appearance of secondary sex characteristic? The subject of study were the 400 male and female students who were in the sixth grade at elementary school in the city of Paju. The questionnaire survey was conducted to find out their general characteristics, sex consciousness and degree of being exposed to obscene media. The conclusions were as follows; 1) Basic Information 94% of the students investigated were living with their parents. The greatest number of their parents were in their fourties. Concerning the religion of their families, 47.5% belonged to Christianity or Catholicism. 47.3% got in touch with obscene media, which indicated that the harmful influence of that media was great. Their basic knowledge of pregnancy was very poor, as 27.2% weren't sure whether being pregnant could be caused only by shaking hands, hugging or kissing. 34.7% considered it a natural behavior to contact the other sex. Regarding their practice of sexual behavior, they'd have an experience of hugging or kissing. 2) Group Comparison The female students underwent the appearance of secondary sex characteristic faster than the male students. As a result of examining if their degree of being exposed to obscene media was affected by the presence or absence of secondary sex characteristic, no statistically significant difference existed in all the groups: the entire group, male student group and female student group. There appeared, however, statistically significant differences between male and female students, as the number of male student who hadn't yet been exposed to obscene media was less than that of female student who hadn't. And the number of male student who had been much exposed to obscene media was more than that of female student who had. 3) Sex Knowledge, Sex Attitude and Sex Practice The extent of making contact with obscene media didn't make statistically significant difference to the sex knowledge of all the groups. But more extent of getting in touch with obscene media led to more sex attitude and sex practice in the entire group. However, as a result of analyzing these things by the presence or absence of secondary sex characteristic, it's found in general that the group that had secondary sex characteristic possessed statistically better sex knowledge than the other group that hadn't. For the male students, there appeared little disparities in three subareas of sex knowledge, sex attitude and sex practice. For the female students, however, the group that had secondary sex characteristic owned better sex knowledge than the other group that hadn't, and the former group looked upon sex attitude as more natural.
This study was designed to learn attitudes to euthanasia of nursing student. Data were collected from May 1 to May 30, 2005 by structured questionaires. The respondents joined in the study were 307 nursing student. Data were analyzed using SPSS program by percentage, t-test, one-way ANOVA and scheffe, The results obtained were as follows :1. The mean scores for euthanasia were 3.16 in medical ethics, 2.85 in respect for life, 2.83 in patient's rights, and 2.63 in quality of life, being 2.85 overall. 2. Those who have grade showed significantly higher scores for euthanasia. 3. About 56% of the respondents did not agree that passive euthanasia is justifiable, and 55% did not like performance of euthanasia. 4. The group admitting that passive euthanasia is ethically justifiable showed significantly higher scores in the patient's rights(t=6.031, p=.000), the respect for life(t=5.280, p=.000) and the medical ethics(t=5.558, p=.000) than the group which do not admit. 5. The group which would perform passive euthanasia showed significantly higher scores in the patient's rights(t=6.329, p=.000), the respect for life(t=6.339, p=.000), the quality of life (t=1.993, p=.047) and the medical ethics(t=6.240, p=.000) than the group which would not perform passive euthanasia.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of infection control education, knowledge, attitude and self-confidence of student nurses, regarding nosocomial infection control. Method: This was a nonequivalent control group nonsychronized design. The participants were 83 student nurses who were conveniently assigned to the experimental or a control group. The data were collected from March 5 to June 11, 2008 and analyzed based on Fisher's exact test and t-test. Result: The 1st hypothesis, "Posttest nosocomial infection control knowledge scores for the experimental group will be higher than scores for the control group" was supported (t=2.057, p=.043). The 2nd hypothesis, "Posttest nosocomial infection control attitude scores for the experimental group will be higher than those for the control group" was not statistically significant (t=.466, p=.643), The 3rd hypothesis, "Posttest nosocomial infection control self-confidence scores for the experimental group will be higher than those for the control group" was not statistically significant (t=2.290 p=.025). Conclusion: This infection control education was effective in increasing the levels of knowledge and self-confidence for student nurses regarding nosocomial infection control.
It is well known that the distributional properties of financial asset returns exhibit fatter-tails and skewer-mean than the assumption of normal distribution. The correct assumption of return distribution might improve the estimated performance of the Value-at-Risk(VaR) models in financial markets. In this paper, we estimate and compare the VaR performance using the RiskMetrics, GARCH and FIGARCH models based on the normal and skewed-Student-t distributions in two daily returns of the Korean Composite Stock Index(KOSPI) and Korean Won-US Dollar(KRW-USD) exchange rate. We also perform the expected shortfall to assess the size of expected loss in terms of the estimation of the empirical failure rate. From the results of empirical VaR analysis, it is found that the presence of long memory in the volatility of sample returns is not an important in estimating an accurate VaR performance. However, it is more important to consider a model with skewed-Student-t distribution innovation in determining better VaR. In short, the appropriate assumption of return distribution provides more accurate VaR models for the portfolio managers and investors.
In order to study the effect of student's conceptions about force and motion into the graph construction in kinematics in college physics course, the tasks of constructing the qualitative graph in the similar problem context used in force conception was asked to the first 74 and third 97 student teacher in teachers' university. The frequencies analysis showed that student teachers had the naive conceptions that the throwing force was still acted to a upwarding ball. They also had the popular Aristotelian views about motion. These naive conceptions coexisted with the scientific conception about gravitational force. In a simple pendulum problem no one had the correct acceleration concepts which varies the direction in swing. This result suggest that student teacher had more difficulties in a acceleration problem than in a velocity problem In v-t and a-t graph construction tasks, the number of categories of a-t graphs were more than that of v-t graphs. There were many graph errors in a sign of velocity and acceleration. The acceleration conceptions without the relations of changes in velocity made the kinematics graphs more various shapes. The force and motion conceptions influenced the ability to construct the kinematics graphs.
Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between knowledge and attitude about smoking of college student smokers. Methods: The data were collected from the 6th to 27th of April 2005, from 411 college student smokers in Jeollabuk-Do area. The collected data were analysed by using the SPSS WIN 11.0. Results: 1) The focus group showed mean $17.40{\pm}12.45$ in the knowledge about smoking. The knowledge about smoking was significantly different among general subject characteristics of age(F=4.84, p=.008), grade(t=2.96, p=.003), major(F=5.93, p=.001), and religion(t=2.96, p=.003). 2) The focus group showed mean $23.69{\pm}16.19$ in their attitude about smoking. The attitude about smoking was significantly different among general subject characteristics of age(F=8.15, p=.000), grade(t=-2.33, p=.020), major(F=8.35, p=.000), and residence(t=3.08, p=.010). 3) The correlations between knowledge and attitude about smoking were positively correlated(p<0.01). Conclusion: The subjects knowledge about smoking was correlated with their attitude about smoking. Therefore, we need to develop various differential smoking prevention programs and extend the role of experts.
Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the perception of parental role held by university students and to examine difference in perception of parental role according to student characteristics. Method: The participant were 338 university student in Gangreung city. The instrument was developed by researcher and consisted of 4 subcategories ; child rearing environment, parental sensitivity, growth and development of infant, and physical care. Data were collected from May 10 to June 1 in 2004 and were analyzed using SPSS Win 10.0 program. Result: The university students' perception of total parental role had a mean item score of 4.02, with 4.12 for parental sensitivity, 4.00 for child rearing environment, 4.00 for physical care and 3.95 for growth and development. There were significant differences in perception of parental role according to sex(t=-5.55, p=.00), grade(F=13.12, p=.00), type of college(F=28.34, p=.00), father's age(F=5.01, p=.00), father's education(F=5.01, p=.00), mother's education(F=3.33, p=.03) student's marriage plan(t=2.37, p=.01) main caretaker(F=9.53, p=.00) person who lived with student in childhood(F=3.62, p=.01) and student's perception of the need for education for parental role(t=3.74, p=.00). Conclusion: The impact of childhood experience has lifelong significance on subsequent health and development. Especially, the experience of childhood is highly affected by the quality of parental role. It is important to identify university student's perception of parental role as pre-parent preparation for parenting. Therefore, pre-parent education program are necessary.

The paper examines the impact of proctoring environments on student performance in two different exam proctoring environments: online versus offline proctored exams. This study employs a set of aggregated data from 1,762 students over the eight-year period from 2009 to 2016 in a university. Although there were nine courses offered, they could have been counted more than once as students may appear several times to take exams for different courses. This study employs independent samples t-test and regression analysis to compare the means of two independent groups and to test the hypothesis. The results of the independent samples t-test and the regression analysis indicate that there is no difference in the mean scores of exams and, therefore, the findings suggest that the exam proctoring environment is unlikely related to student performance even when students take their exams either in online proctoring or offline proctoring environments. This study concludes that the proctoring environment unlikely results in a statistically significant difference of exam scores and, thus, the exam proctoring environment does not appear to cause any change in student performance. The findings suggest that the exam proctoring environments does not appear to impact on student academic achievements and assessments.
