Since the study by Turkle(1995), the concept of identity play in MMORPGs has been employed primarily to explain the reflection of users' identity in the avatar creation process in online games. This study attempts to conceptualize the identity play of the design process in which the user uses the avatar customizing system to create an avatar in the virtual world. This research verified the model of identity play through players' avatars, a model of the components of identity play constructed. The aims of this study pursued through an analysis of correlations of users' attitudes toward avatars. This study performed structural equation modeling to verify hypotheses about the variables that affect online identity play.

By the early 20 century, "workman" introduced by SONY was the leading portable analog sounder. However, at the same century, workman was pushed out from the portable sounder by iRiver developed by MPMAN.COM. This portable digital sounder is called MP3-Player (MP3P), and has become the most popular portable digital sounder in the current market. This study combined two customer satisfaction models, mobile internet customer satisfaction model (Yu, 2002), and portable communication customer satisfaction model (Bae, 2003), in order to empirically test consumption of MP3P and its satisfaction. The proposed model tested four constructs, company's image, product price, product design and product function, influencing customer satisfaction, which leads to affect customer loyalty. 267 survey responses were analyzed by using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that all constructs had significant impact. This study suggests a good understanding of consumer satisfaction and loyalty of MP3P and the future direction of MP3P research regarding to consumer satisfaction.
Despite growing interest and attention from researchers and practitioners in management studies, empirical research has been limited on how factors that influence an organization's business performance are affected by certain characteristics of enterprise information systems (IS), such as maturity and infrastructure. This study reports on an empirical analysis of survey data to identify relationships among the informatization level, the business environment, and IS maturity and infrastructure related to business performance-based on financial and non-financial performance measurements-from the perspective of 136 Taiwan firms. The survey questionnaire respondents were drawn from individuals in each of these firms who were typically working in divisions related to business performance functions. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses that came from the research model in this study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate whether job satisfaction in clinical nurses was dependent on work intensity and whether physical discomfort mediated the relationships between these variables. Methods: Structural equation modeling was used with a sample of 253 clinical nurses from four general hospitals. In the model, absolute work intensity, relative work intensity, and flexibility were considered as exogenous variables and physical discomfort as a mediating variable. Data were collected using self-report measures such as the Labor Intensity Questionnaire, the Rating of Perceived Exertion, and the Index of Job Satisfaction. Results: The results of the structural equation modeling found that the higher scores on absolute and relative work intensity were positively associated with physical discomfort but only relative work intensity was significantly related to job satisfaction. Physical discomfort mediated the relationships between absolute work intensity and job satisfaction and between relative work intensity and job satisfaction. Among three kinds of work intensity, only relative work intensity had direct and indirect effects on job satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings suggest that increase in relative work intensity might play an important role in decreasing job satisfaction in clinical nurses and a reasonable reward system considering relative work intensity could be necessary.
Purpose: This study was designed to test structural equation modeling of the quality of life of stroke survivors in order to provide guidelines for development of interventions and strategies to improve their quality of life. Methods: The participants in the study were patients who visited the neurology outpatient department of a tertiary hospital in Seoul between June 25 and October 15, 2009. Data collection was carried out through one-on-one interviews. Demographic factors, functional independence, social support, nutritional status, post-stroke biobehavioral changes and quality of life were investigated. Results: The final analysis included 215 patients. Fitness of the hypothetical model was appropriate (${\chi}^2$=111.5, p=.000, GFI=.926, AGFI=.880, RMSA=.068, NFI=.911, CFI=.953). Functional dependency, social support and post-stroke biobehavioral changes were found to be significant explaining variance in quality of life. Post-stroke biobehavioral changes had the strongest direct influence on quality of life. Nutritional status had an indirect effect on the quality of life. Conclusion: To improve the quality of life of stroke survivors, comprehensive interventions are necessary to manage post-stroke biobehavioral changes, and strengthening social support networks that can contribute to enhancing the quality of life of stroke survivors.
As an emerging e-retail model, private shopping malls are transforming the traditional retail systems. These malls are expanding in Europe and the United States and have recently arrived in Korea. This study investigates the relationships among the usefulness of SNS(Social Networking Sites), shopping values, and purchase intentions for fashion products in private shopping malls. The analysis was based on a survey of consumers, aged between 20 and 39, who recently purchased fashion products from a private shopping mall. Two hundred samples were used in the final analysis. The study employed descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling. The relationships among usefulness of SNS, shopping values, and purchase intentions was verified through structural equation modeling. More specifically, the usefulness of SNS significantly influenced the utilitarian shopping values as well as purchase intention of fashion products. Utilitarian shopping values, in turn, significantly influenced hedonic shopping values and purchase intention. Further, hedonic shopping values had a significant effect on purchase intention.
Purpose: This study was done to test structural equation modeling of health-related quality of life (QOL) of men with obstructive sleep apnea in order to identify parameters affecting QOL and provide guidelines for interventions and strategies to improve QOL in these patients. Methods: Model construction was based on 'The conceptual model of patient outcome in health-related QOL' by Wilson and Cleary, using the variables; age, physiological factors, social support, cognitive appraisal, symptoms and QOL. Participants were 201 adult male patients recruited at a tertiary university hospital in Seoul. Data were collected via questionnaires, polysomnography, and clinical records. Results: Age and symptoms directly influenced QOL. Social support and cognitive appraisal about sleep did not have a direct influence on QOL, but indirectly affected it via symptoms. QOL was lower in patients who were younger and had more severe symptoms. Symptoms were more severe for patients with lower social support and more dysfunctional cognitive appraisal. When social support was lower, cognitive appraisal was more dysfunctional. Conclusion: These results suggest it is necessary to not only manage symptoms, but also apply interventions to increase social support and cognitive appraisal about sleep in order to increase QOL in patients with obstructive sleep apnea.
Objective: This study examined the relationship between child care teachers'job satisfaction, teacher-parent partnership, and teacher- child interaction in order to improve the quality of child care. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were used on 321 child care teachers and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Structural Equation Modeling Analysis. Results: First, significant correlations existed among variables except the relationship between payment/promotion and other variables. The results showed that child care teachers'job satisfaction had a significant and direct influence on teacher-child interaction, and teachers' job satisfaction was partially mediated by teacher-parent partnership on teacher-child interaction. Conclusion/Implications: The findings confirm that teachers' job satisfaction and teacher-parent partnership are preceding factors for positive teacher-child interaction. Significant attention should be paid to child care teachers'psychological satisfaction and teacher-parent relationships to promote the quality of child care and the positive interaction between teachers and children.
Objectives: This study aims to identify the factors associated with the stages of change in colorectal cancer screening, and develop a model explaining these stages of change by using structural equation modeling analysis. Methods: On the basis of literature review and expert advice, we constructed our hypothetical model that consisted of five theoretical constructs(process of change, pros, cons, self-efficacy, stage of change). In 2009, data was collected from 486 participants aged between 50 and 69. The data were analyzed by SPSS 15.0 and AMOS 6.0. Results: In the case of stage of adoption, the contemplation stage was the most common (37.4%), followed by the action stage (26.5%). In the final model of the stage of change for colorectal cancer screening, there was a direct influence of the process of change ($\gamma$=.562, p<.001), and cons ($\gamma$=.132, p<.01) on the stage of change with the terms of GFI .931, AGFI .904, RMR .038, NFI .930, and NNFI .936. Conclusion: It is necessary to produce and disseminate evidence-based cancer screening information, which can mitigate the negative attitude among the public toward cancer screening. Also, it is essential to provide a safer and more comfortable environment at cancer screening center.
This paper examined the effect of organizational capability on performance in Korean and the United States manufacturing R&D organizations. We used self-reported data from 122 Korean and 79 U.S. firms to address three research questions. Structural equation modeling techniques validated the adapted instrument used in the study, and revealed that R&D organizational capability accounts for R&D performance. The degree of explanation power for the performance was significantly higher in Korean than the U.S. R&D organizations. Several implications of the findings were discussed.
