In this paper, acoustic emission (AE) and pattern recognition are utilized to identify the AE signal signatures caused by propagation of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in a 304 stainless steel plate. The surface of the plate is under almost uniform tensile stress at a notch. A corrosive environment is provided by exposing the notch to a solution of 1% Potassium Tetrathionate by weight. The Global b-value indicated an occurrence of the first visible crack and damage stages during the SCC. Furthermore, a method based on linear regression has been developed for damage identification using AE data.
Statement of problom: In the internal connection system the loading transfer mechanism within the inner surface of the implant and also the stress distribution occuring to the mandible can be changed according to the abutment form. Therefore it is thought to be imperative to study the difference of the stress distribution occuring at the mandible according to the abutment form. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the loading distributing characteristics of 3 implant systems with internal connection under vertical and inclined loading using finite element analysis. Material and method: Three finite element models were designed according to the type of internal connection of ITI(model 1), Friadent(model 2), and Bicon(model 3) respectively. This study simulated loads of 200N in a vertical direction (A), a $15^{\circ}$ inward inclined direction (B), and a $30^{\circ}$ outward inclined direction (C). Result: The following results have been made based on this numeric simulations. 1. The greatest stress showed in the loading condition C of the inclined load with outside point from the centric cusp tip. 2. Without regard to the loading condition, the magnitudes of the stresses taken at the supporting bone, the implant fixture, and the abutment were greater in the order of model 2, model 1, and model 3. 3. Without regard to the loading condition, greater stress was concentrated at the cortical bone contacting the upper part of the implant fixture, and lower stress was taken at the cancellous bone. 4. The stress of the implant fixture was usually widely distributed along the inner surface of the implant fixture contacting the abutment post. 5. The stress distribution pattern of the abutment showed that the great stress was usually concentrated at the neck of the abutment and the abutment post, and the stress was also distributed toward the lower part of the abutment post in case of the loading condition B, C of the inclined load. 6. In case of the loading condition B, C of the inclined load, the maximum von Misess stress at the whole was taken at the implant fixture both in the model 1 and model 2, and at the abutment in the model 3. 7. The stress was inclined to be distributed from abutment post to fixture in case of the internal connection system. Conclusion: The internal connection system of the implant and the abutment connection methods, the stress-induced pattern at the supporting bone, the implant fixture, and the abutment according to the abutment connection form had differenence among them, and the stress distribution pattern usually had a widely distributed tendency along the inner surface of the implant fixture contacting the a butment post.
The objective of the present study is to evaluate the effects of the stenting shapes on flow velocity and wall shear stress in angulated coronary stenosis by computer simulation. Coronary angiogram and Doppler ultrasound measurement in the patients with angulated coronary stenosis were obtained. Inlet wave velocity distribution obtained from in vivo intracoronary Doppler data was used for the numerical simulation. Spatial pattern of blood flow velocity and recirculation area were drawn through out the selected segment of coronary models. Wall shear stresses in the intracoronary stent models were calculated from three-dimensional computer simulation. A negative shear stress region, which is consistent with re-circulation area on flow pattern, was noted on the inner wall of post-stenotic area of pre-stenting model. The negative shear stress was disappeared after stenting. Shear stress in the post-stenting model was markedly reduced up to about two orders of magnitude compared to that of the pre-stenting model.
A hypothesis that is a stress condition in animal may cause either enhancement or reduction of the host resistance against microbial infection was experimentally studied. Among of many processes for stress formation an experimental electrization in mice was devised, on the bases of blood picture analysis, and studied the effect of experimental electrization of mice on E. coll infection. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Electrization with ordinary current, A. C. 60 cps., on the path of symmetrical line of both posterior limbs at 20 to 100 volts (less than 10 mA) for 15 to 30 seconds was able to induce a stress reaction in blood pattern without showing any dangers of electrocution, electric burns and other residual signs, and no correlation between blood pattern of the reaction and an amount of current between 20 to 100 volts was observed. As the electrodes, two of 21 gauge hypodermic needles were used, when the electrization each of them were inserted into the center of toe tissue of the both legs. 2. Serum protein fractions following the experimental electrization showed a tendency of a low A/G ratio and a high value of ${\alpha}$-globulin. 3. In the studies on the effect of electrical stress on the pathogenesis of E. coli in mice, a group in which a simultaneous electrization and infection, and a group infected two hours after electrization showed 80 per cent mortality. On the other hand, infection after 20 hours electrization and control groups showed their mortality of 40 and 60 per cent respectively.
One of the most interesting and promising steel groups considered for the rocket motor case, aircraft and aerospace component is the maraging(martensitic plus aging) nickel steel, developed by International Nickel Company in 1960. This material attains a very high strength with good fracture toughness by simple heat treatments which do not involve a quenching. Full strength can be obtained by "maraging" at 480.deg. for 3 hours for the 18% Ni maraging steel. The effect of heat treatments was considered on the residual stress field of 18% Ni maraging steel weldments. In experiments, various heat treatments such as stress relieve heat treatment, aging and solution heat treatment were carried out of the GTA weldments and the residual stresses were measured by using the hole drilling method. Whereas the conventional pattern of residual stress shows the stresses to be maximum along the weld centerline with tensile stress extending into the heat affected zone, the pattern in maraging steels shows the centerline stress to be compressive. After welding, a series of aging, solution heat treatment and solution heat treatment plus aging treatment were carried out and the residual stresses were measured to reveal that these heat treatments almost completely remove the welding residual stresses.
Purpose: The study aimed to examine the effects of sleep pattern, stress, and attitude towards menstruation, and behavior that causes a reduction in exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in the course of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in female adolescents. Method: In total, 200 girls attending middle school in K city were recruited via convenience sampling between December 11 and 31, 2018, and 192 subjects were selected for the analysis. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: Overall, 9 (4.7%), 152 (79.2%), and 31 (16.1%) students had morning-, intermediate-, and evening-type sleep pattern, respectively. The mean scores for school-related stress were highest. Scores for stress regarding relationships with friends were the lowest. The mean score for attitudes toward menstruation was 72.33 out of 147. The mean score for behavior that led to a reduction in EDCs exposure was 56.57 out of 85. The mean scores for PMS severity were 25.30 and 38.39 out of 60. Analysis of factors affecting PMS revealed that severity of menstrual pain (β=.28), use of analgesics during menstruation (β=.17), family history of PMS (β=-.16), stress (β=.19), and behavior that reduces EDCs exposure (β=-.17) exerted significant effects on PMS. The explanatory power of these variables was 37%. Conclusion: The findings propose the necessity of a health intervention program including educational information, which can reduce PMS in adolescents, induce the behaviors which can decrease exposure to EDCs, and activities for managing the stress levels.
When interpreting change over time in forest ecosystems, distinguishing the effects of forest succession from the effects of environmental stress can be difficult. The result may be a simplistic interpretation. citing a specific successional or environmental cause of forest change when both types may be occurring. We present two case studies of changes in the forest floor in northern hardwoods. First, the belief that 50% of soil organic matter is lost in the first 20 years after logging was based on a study comparing northern hardwood stands of different ages. We resampled a series of 13 such stands after an interval of 15 years, and found that the young stands were not, in fact. losing organic matter as rapidly as predicted from the original chronosequence study. The pattern of higher organic matter content in the forest floors of older stands compared to young stands could be equally well explained by changes in logging practices over the last century as by the aging of the stand. The observed pattern of forest floor organic matter as a function of stand age was previously interpreted as a successional pattern, ignoring changes in treatment history. In the second case study, observed losses of base cations from the forest floor were attributed to cation depletion caused by acid rain and declining calcium deposition. We found that young stands were gaining base cations in the forest floor; losses of base cations were restricted to older stands. Differences in litter chemistry in stands of different ages may explain some of the pattern in cation gains and losses. In this case, the contribution of successional processes to cation loss had been overlooked in favor of environmental stress as the dominant mechanism behind the observed changes. Studies of environmental stress use repeated measures over time. but often don't consider stand age as a factor. Studies of successional change often assume that environmental factors remain constant. We were able to consider both forest succession and external factors because we repeatedly sampled stands of different ages.
Tho osseointegrated dental prosthetic treatment has develped for the edentulous patient with severely resorbed alveolar ridge, and has given us a successful clinical results to date. Nowadays the partially edentulism is included among the indications of the osseointegrated prosthetic treatment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress distribution at supporting bone according to the types of connection modality between implant and tooth in the superstructure. Two dimensional finite element stress analysis was applied for this study. FEM models were created using software Super SAP for MBM 16bit personal computer. Three modalities of connection were modeled and analyzed under load condition. The results were as follws: 1. The stress develped at tooth and implant in the cancellous bone was lower in the case of rigid connection than in the case of norigid connection, but higher between the two implants in the case of rigid connection than in the case of nonrigid connection. 2. The stress developed at the cortical bone and at the supporting bone interface was lower in the case of rigid connection than in the case of nonrigid connection 3. The stress developed at the supporting tissue interface of the implant nearby the tooth, was lower in the case of rigid connection than in the case of nonrigid connection. 4. The stress developed at the supporting tissue interface of posteriormost implant, was same between the cases of rigid and nonrigid connection. 5. The stress distribution related to the freestanding case was generally similar to the stress distribution pattern of nonrigid connection case. 6. The magnitude of applied load which produces deformation within elastic limit, had influence on the absolute value of stress, but had no influence on the pattern of stress distribution of the same case.
By extracting the variables related to the work stress generated from dental hygiene, identifying their relationships, this study aims to contribute to academic progress on work stress. The test results of this study are as follows for each hypothesis: 1. Among the work stress sensing factors, role ambiguity showed correlation to the active coping strategy and the passive coping strategy, whereas it did not have any correlation to the evasive reation. However, the physical resource environmental factor showed correlation to the active coping strategy, whereas it did not have any correlation to the other reation. 2. The passive coping strategy, among the work stress coping strategies, influences the role ambiguity, B type, work ambiguity, physical resource environmental factor by about 18.7%. 3. The active coping strategy, among the work stress coping strategies, influences the social support, role ambiguity, work place of health center factor by about 18.9%. 4. The evasive reaction, among the work stress coping strategies, was influenced by only the 36 years old over factor by approximately 4.2%. 5. It was found in all work stress sensing factors that the group with lower social support had a more degree of experiencing stress than the group with higher social support. In case of the behavior pattern, the type A experienced more stress than the type B only in role ambiguity. 6. It was found that the group with the higher social support tended to choose more active coping strategy than the lower social support. In case of behavior pattern, the type B coped more actively than type A in the passive coping strategy.
The objective of this study was to test the estimation possibility of driver's stress degrees with the HRV analysis. For this, first, HRV analysis was applied to the 5 driver's ECG signals which were acquired in 7 different stress situations. From this, the facts that HRV trend was different from that in long-distance driving and 6 parameters - meanRR, sdRR, HF, LF/HF, LFnorm, HFnorm were useful for the stress estimation in stress varying driving situation. Next, we designed 5 personalized linear regression models in which 6 HRV parameters were input and the outcomes were 7 different stress degrees. Finally, we tested each model for 5min-long 16 segments individually. Consequently, the models could not hit the stress degrees exactly in some segments but the correlation coefficients between original stress pattern and estimated stress pattern during entire driving showed reasonably high.
