This study investigated whether listeners' perceptual patterns varied according to base token selected for stimuli manipulation. Voice onset time (VOT) and fundamental frequency (F0) values were orthogonally manipulated, each in seven steps, using naturally produced words that contained a lenis (/kan/) and an aspirated (/khan/) stop in Seoul Korean. Both native and non-native groups showed significantly higher numbers of aspirated responses for the stimuli constructed with /khan/, evidencing the use of minor cues left in the stimuli after manipulation. For the native group the use of the VOT and F0 cues in the stop categorization did not differ depending on whether the base token included the lenis or aspirated stop, indicating that the results of previous studies remain tenable that investigated the relative importance of the acoustic cues in the native listener perception of the Korean stop contrasts by using one base token for manipulating perceptual stimuli. For the non-native group, the use patterns of the F0 cue differed as a function of base token selected. Some findings indicated that listeners used alternative cues to identify the stop contrast when major cues sound ambiguous. The use of the manipulated VOT and F0 cues by the non-native group was not native-like, suggesting that non-native listeners may have perceived the minor cues as stable in the context of the manipulated cue combinations.
This study is to stimulate the model of which top notch muscle stimuli physical therapy has been made on the basis of GCM. GCM has been studied on the hypermobility & hypomobility pattern on the part of spine & extremity, and the body characteristics of four body types, which is the tilting of seal scapular & ilium. The purpose of this study is to analysize the type of GCM which has been focused on the spine & extremity for the patients having dysfunctions of neuromuscular system, being analysized the movement. The result of this study is as following; 1) The First hypothesis: The hypermobility & hypomobility pattern assorted by the tilting of scapular & ilium, as does the former study analysize was claimed that it would be in line with the pattern for hypermobility hypomobility and physical characteristics according to each body type at the percentage of at least 60(p<.001). 2) The 2nd hypothesis : Stimuli therapy of muscle dealing with physical characteristics and joint hypermobility hypomobility has the important role in restoring the deformity and keeping anatomical postural plumb alignment also it would a highly effects on correcting the body even though the stimuli area was limited to four areas and it was lack of time compared with those applied by general physical therapy(p<.001). As above the result, the top-notch type for physical therapy based on hypermobility hypomobility pattern by 4 body types which has been studied on tilting of scapular & ilium is more specificed and specialized than those of general physical therapy technologies. So this study will be believed to dedicate to restoration ideal anatomical postural plumb alignment based on spinal Manipulation and the concept of whole person as well as to being simple and effective to apply.
The purpose of the present study was to identify the effects of communicator, type of clothing and subject's age on informational influence in clothing conformity. The sample consisted of 205 subjects assigned to two groups (female college students in their early twenties and housewives in their late thirties living in kyongju). In this study the research design consisted of a 3(communicator)×2(subject's age)×2(type of clothing) factorial design. The stimuli consisted of 10 color photographs (6 one-piece dresses and 4 jeans in current fashion) In the first step, subjects were asked to arrange stimuli in the order of greatest fashionability. In the second step, subjects were exposed to experimental manipulation which consisted of slides of various clothing styles and an essay concerning a forecast on fashion trends. The communicator in the essay was described as a designer, a college student, or a housewife. In the third step, in addition to other questions subjects were asked to indicated their degree of agreement with the essay. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, X2 and t-test. The results were: 1. Informational influence on clothing conformity varied by communicator, type of clothing, and subject's age. Subjects were most conforming when the communicator was described as a designer and when the clothing style was a one-piece dress. 2. Informational influence results revealed that housewives were more conforming than the female college students in the jean style.
Smart materials capable of changing their characteristics in response to stimuli such as light, heat, pH, and electric and magnetic fields are promising for application to flexible electronics, soft robotics, and biomedicine. Compared with conventional rigid materials, these materials are typically composed of soft materials that improve the biocompatibility and allow for large and dynamic deformations in response to external environmental stimuli. Among them, smart magnetic materials are attracting immense attention owing to their fast response, remote actuation, and wide penetration range under various conditions. In this review, we report the material design and fabrication of smart magnetic materials. Furthermore, we focus on recent advances in their typical applications, namely, soft magnetic actuators, sensors for self-assembly, object manipulation, shape transformation, multimodal robot actuation, and tactile sensing.
This study examined the perception of two Korean vowels using F1/F2 manipulated synthetic vowels. Previous studies indicated that there is an overlap between the acoustic spaces of Korean /o/ and /u/ in terms of the first two formants. A continuum of eleven synthetic vowels were used as stimuli. The experiment consisted of three tasks: an /o/ identification task (Yes-no), an /u/ identification task (Yes-no), and a forced choice identification task (/o/-/u/). ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristic) analysis and logistic regression were performed to calculate the boundary criterion of the two vowels along the stimulus continuum, and to predict the perceptual judgment on F1 and F2. The result indicated that the location between stimulus no.5 (F1 = 342Hz, F2 = 691Hz) and no.6 (F1 = 336Hz, F2 = 700Hz) was estimated as a perceptual boundary region between /o/ and /u/, while stimulus no.0 (F1=405Hz, F2=666Hz) and no.10 (F1=321Hz, F2=743Hz) were at opposite ends of the continuum. The influence of F2 was predominant over F1 on the perception of the vowel categories.

The purposes of this study were to investigate 1) the effect of body exposure and color of a woman's suit on the perception of modesty, and 2) the effect of perceiver's sex and age on impression formed by the function of clothing variables. The instrument of this study consisted of a response scale and stimuli. Thirteen items of 7-point semantic differential scales were developed to measure the perceiver's impression on wearer's modesty. Stimuli were color pictures of a model wearing one of 8 types of suit constructed by a 2 $\times$ 2 $\times$ 2 factorial design. The manipulation of each level of the clothing variables were: color of the suit by black and red, leg exposure by varying skirt lengths to a Chanel-line and mini skirt, and neck exposure by shirt collar blouse and scarf. Two models, representing typical female college students living in Seoul, were selected to eliminate model effect. The sample include 384 subjects, consisting of 4 groups of male and female college students and middle aged men and women. Eight experimental groups were randomly assigned to one of eight stimuli based on between-subject design. One half of each group responded to model 1 and the other half to model 2 of same stimulus. Responses to the semantic differential scales were factor analyzed (pc model, Varimax rotation) to identify factors constructing impression of modesty. Two factors emerged regardless of subgroups; Elegance and Extroversion factor. The first factor was found to be dominant, accounting for 60 percent of the total variance. The other accounted for just 11 percent. Multidimensional ANOVA (5-way, 3-way) was conducted to test the effect of the clothing variables against two factors identified from the factor analysis. Leg exposure was the most powerful variable affecting the impression of Elegance and Extroversion factor for all per. ceiver subgroups. Neck exposure had primary effect on the impression of Elegance, whereas it partially influenced that of Extroversion. Color of suit had only partial effect on the impression of Extroversion. Hypothesis I was partially supported from the findings above. The effect of perceiver's age and sex on impression by the function of clothing variables was tested by comparing the result between four subgroups. In forming an impression of the wearer's modesty, male college students were least affected by the manipulation of clothing variables, while middle aged males were affected most. In the female groups, there was no age difference and they fell between the male groups in the degree to which they were affected. Hypothesis II was supported only by age difference in two male groups, and by sex difference in two student groups.
It is very important issue in information design to improve information efficiency by adapting interesting factors in changing circumstance of information communication. The concept of infotainment is utilized in designing information contents in a way of combining entertainment factors with information itself based on various media and representation technologies. The information arousing user's attention, which includes interesting factors, is persuasive message comppared to the informative message conveying only information itself. The reason why infotainment is persuasive is because it makes the user absorb deeply in the information during the process of understanding by sensorial stimuli, cognitive interest, and situational interest. The sensorial stimuli originates from the expression elements of information design. The cognitive interest from the user's intellectual activities has a try to overcome mental block when user confronts with the redundant expression in the manner of unexpectedness and inharmony. The situational interest originates from user's optimum experience by the flow of satisfaction. Therefore, the attribute of infotainment is defined with the stimuli, the redundancy, and user's satisfaction. Its design elements consist of physical factors, organizational factors, and psychological factors. The physical factors through sensorial stimuli are utilized by visual manipulation such as visual analogy or visual pun, multimedia, and moving expression. The organizational factors through redundant expression bring user's imagination by adapting storytelling, event, and interaction in the process of understanding information. The psychological factors through expression of entertainment interests such as humor, play, and game give users psychological satisfaction with the flow. In conclusion the concept of infotainment can be adapted when the design factors should be integrated with its attributes, or the conveying information should go well with its purpose and characteristics.
This paper investigates whether listeners perceive a different level of politeness when the duration of the Korean sentence-final auxiliary particle '-yo' is varied. A total of 10 Korean sentences were manipulated by lengthening and shortening '-yo' by 10%, 20%, and 30%. The participants included native Korean speakers and Chinese and Japanese learners of Korean (n=10, respectively). They were asked to rate the level of politeness of the stimuli on a 9-point scale. It was found that Korean listeners perceived decreased politeness as the duration of '-yo' was shortened and increased politeness as it was lengthened. However, Chinese and Japanese listeners did not perceive a different level of politeness from the manipulated sentences. This finding suggests that it is important to teach L2 speakers that the duration of the auxiliary particle '-yo' plays a role in Korean listeners' perception of politeness.
Hydrotherapy is aimed at evoking short-term and long-term adaptation-mechanisms of patients. This means that a patient should be able to adapt to the changed environment. both mentally and physically. Hydrotherapy is widely used to treat patients with generalised rheumatic discases. Hydrotherapy may be applied as a single therapy. in combination with other therapeutic interventions or as one pan of a complex series of stimuli as e.g. during spa therapy. A treatment regimen in water is constructed according to the same rules as dry land exercise. However, methods specifically designed or adjusted for hydrotherapy can be used. The Halliwick is suitale in particular to facilitate arthrokinetic reactions as a part of training postural stability. The Bad Ragaz Ring is a hydortherapy modification of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Patterns of arms. logs and trunk are used to increase muscle function and flexibility. Other techniques are applicable in water too: mobilization and manipulation techniques of the joints can be integrated in hydrotherapeutic methods. The continuous research is needed for many interesting issues of hydrotherapy in new future.

The natural high productivity of temperate coastal waters in Korea can be used in advantage to reduce the feed costs for the cage-cultured marine carnivorous fish species. By using the night-lights methods an alternative of supplementary feeding strategy can be offered to the cage farmers and maintain sound environmental conditions that could enhance maximum sustainable yields. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of night-lights which shown positive results on feeding and growth in sea cage cultured rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli. The study showed that for the water around overhead illuminated sea cage, higher zooplankton density was observed at night than during the daytime. Increased amounts of for-age, evidenced by stomach content analyses were observed in the early evening, but decreased amounts were observed in the morning and afternoon. That is, feeding activities of the fish were most intensive from midnight to dawn. In a three month feeding experiment, the results showed that night-lighted groups were superior to groups with the highest feeding efficient. This study suggested that the evidence that night-lights superimposed on only day-lights enhance growth of rockfish in sea cages during summer and winter, with timing of exposure affecting growth of juvenile fish. The capability to control the feeding behavior of marine life via manipulation and external stimuli could considerably benefit the advancement of sea cage aquaculture in coastal areas.
