  • In this study, low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric transformer for DC-DC converter were manufactured using (PbCaSr)Ti(MnSb)$O_3$ ceramics and thin their electrical properties were investigated according to the vanation of frequency and load resistance. The voltage step-up ratio of multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the maximum value m the vicinity of 1.3MHz and increased according to the increase of load resistance. When the output impedance coincided with the load resistance, the piezoelectric transformer showed the temperature rise of about $21^{\circ}C$ under the output power of 6W.

  • 고전압 DC 전원 응용에 사용되는 높은 입출력 전압 변환비의 특성을 가지는 새로운 극성 반전형 dc/dc 전력 변환 회로를 제안하였다. 제안안 회로의 특징은 기존회로보다 소자의 전압 스트레스가 감소된다. 제안한 회로의 동작원리를 분석하고 특징을 비교하였다. 제안한 회로의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 시뮬레이션결과와 실험결과를 비교 분석 하였다.

  • Electrical and mechanical properties of Pb(Mg, Te, Mn, Nb)O3-PZT ceramics are investigated as a function of CeO2 addition (0 to 0.3wt%), and the output characteristics of piezoelectric transformer are also presented. The grain size decreased and the shapes of particles were more uniform with the addition of CeO2. The coercive electric field(9500V/cm), mechanical quality factor (2500) and bend strength (1065kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) were improved by addition of CeO2 0.2wt%. After repetition of a number of stress cycles, the degradation of k33 was not found in this sample. The voltage step-up ratio (Vdc/Vrms) of piezoelectric ceramic transformer (half wavevoltage doubler, load resistor 100M.ohm) was about 950 in a linear region, its value was relatively higher than other materials.

  • This paper describes a design of 8192-Point pipelined FFT/IFFT processor (PFFTSk) core for DVB-T and DMT-based VBSL modems. A novel two-step convergent block floating -point (75_CBFP) scaling method is proposed to improve the signal- to-quantization-noise ratio (SeNR) of FFT/IFFT results. Our approach reduces about 80% of memory when compared with conventional CBFP methods. The PFFTSk core, which is designed in VHDL and synthesized using 0.25-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS library, has about 76,300 gates, 390k bits RAM, and Twiddle factor ROM of 39k bits. Simulation results show that it can safely operate up to 50-MHz clock frequency at 2.5-V supply, resulting that a 8192-point FFT/IFFT can be computed every 164-$mutextrm{s}$. The SQNR of about 60-dB is achieved.

  • An improved current-fed push-pull PWM converter with integrated magnetics is presented. With this improved topology, the design of magnetic elements such as an inductor and a transformer becomes easier than that using the conventional topology, especially when the converter is suffered from an extremely high input current. Since this gives twice the voltage conversion ratio compared to the conventional one, it is also suited for the high voltage step-up power conversion process. The operation of the proposed converter is thoroughly analyzed. Also, the theoretical analysis and experimental results are taken from the laboratory level prototype.

  • This paper present a new disk-type piezoelectric transformer. The input side of the transformer has a crescent-shaped electrode and the output side has a focused poling direction. The piezoelectric transformers operated in each transformer's resonance vibration mode. The electrodes and poling directions on commercially available piezoelectric ceramic disks were designed so that the planar or shear mode coupling factor ($k_p,\;k_{15}$) becomes effective rather than the transverse mode coupling factor ($k_{31}$).

  • A pulse transformer producing pulses with the peak power of 200-MW (400 kV 500 A at load side with $4.4{\mu}s$ flat-top) is required to drive the 80-MW pulsed klystron in the PLS linac. We have designed and manufactured the high power pulse transformer with 1 : 17 turn ratio. Its primary functions are to match the impedance of klystron tube to the modulators, and to provide step-up of the voltage. To obtain a fast rise time of the pulse voltage. Low leakage inductance and low distributed capacitance design is very important. In this paper, we discuss the equivalent circuit analysis of the pulse transformer, and present the full power performance test results of pulse transformer.

육각형 압전변압기의 전기적 출력 특성 (Electrical Characteristics of the Hexagon-type Piezoelectric Transformer)

  • In this paper, a hexagon-type piezoelectric transformer was investigated to increase the output power. The length of its side was 14mm and 17.5mm, respectively. The piezoelectric ceramics was composed to PZT-PMN-PSN. This composition showed the characteristics which had an about 1500 of the mechanical Q-factor, 0.55 of the electromechanical coupling coefficient, $320{\times}10^{-12}C/N$ of the piezoelectric constant $d_{31}$, 0.3 % of the dissipation factor, etc. The voltage step-up ratio increased with increasing the load resistance, $R_{L}$, so it reached 80 with $R_{L}$ of $1M{\Omega}$ and was proportion to the length of side of the hexagon-type piezoelectric transformer. Also, the output power increased with increasing the size of the hexagon-type piezoelectric transformer.

  • 기존의 부스트 컨버터에서는 출력 전압이 커질수록 스위치의 전압 및 전류스트레스가 커지고 다이오드 역방향회복에 의한 서지로 인해 실제 사용 가능한 승압비가 제한된다. 본 논문에서는 높은 승압을 요구하는 대전력 응용에도 적합한 새로운 비절연 DC-DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 듀티비 0.5로 약 6배의 승압비를 가지며 CCM에서도 영전압 스위칭이 가능하다. 또한 스위치 및 다이오드 전압정격이 출력전압의 1/3로 되고 인터리빙이 가능하여 입출력 수동소자의 정격도 작다. 다이오드도 ZCS 턴오프 동작으로 역방향 회복에 의한 서지가 없다. 제안하는 컨버터의 동작원리를 설명하였고 이론적 해석과 시뮬레이션 및 실험파형을 통해 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • We suggest a new approach to lower the operating voltage of plasma display devices using a piezoelectric transformer (PT). $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3$ (PMNT) was used as a piezoelectric material. The Rosen-type PT, with a compact size of 10 mm ${\times}$ 20 mm ${\times}$ 0.3 mm, was fabricated on a glass substrate. The fabricated PT was operated as a half-wave vibration mode at around 80~90 kHz. The maximum voltage step-up ratio was 3 at 87.8 kHz when the input voltage was 10.32 V (peak-to-peak).
