[ $CO_2$ ] Laser Weldability and Formability of High Strength Steels for Tailored Blanks Applications (TWB용 고강도 박판 강재의 $CO_2$ 레이저 용접성 및 성형성)

  • The laser welding and its analysis were carried out using high power 6kW $CO_2$ laser for high strength steels such as DP, TRIP and conventional high strength steels. Bead on plate welding of thin sheet was examined to investigate the effect of weld variables of laser welding, and to obtain optimum welding condition. In order to investigate the formability of welded high strength steels, LDH test was added on this work. At high welding speed, the partial penetration was obtained by low heat input. Meanwhile, porosity was formed in the bead at low weld speed because of extremely higher heat input. The optimum welding condition of welding was derived from bead width, penetration and hardness property. It was shown that the DP steels had lower porosity level and smooth bead shape, therefore better laser weldability than TRIP steels and conventional high strength steels. In addition, LDH test shows that the welded DP steels have about $90\%$ formability value of base metal, although TRIP steel and conventional high strength steels have about $80\%$ formability value of its base metal.

A Study on the Water Quality for Efficient Management in the Water Tanks (저수조의 효율적 관리를 위한 수질실태에 관한 연구)

  • This study tried to investigate and analyze the actual state such as the regional, classified, and material characteristics of the water quality in order to research the several factors by which the filtrated water of the total 250 cases can be polluted in the water tank. The 215 points (86%) clean the water tanks twice a year regularly and J-city has done the best job of cleaning the water tanks. The fifty points (20%) of the total 250 investigation points examine the water quality of the water tanks every year, however, the 175 investigation points (70%) do not execute the inspection of water quality. In the case of the regional characteristics in the water quality, the 23 points (46%) in H-county, the 17 points (34%) in S-county, and the 16 points (32%) in G-city are incongruent in the standard, and the incongruity ratio of the water quality in J-city is the lowest. The result of the classified incongruity shows that total coliforms were found at the 61 investigation points, mesophilic bacteria were found at the 27 points, and turbidity was found at the 12 points. In the case of the material incongruity, concrete was found at the 63 investigation points as the most distinguished factor, and FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) at the 23 points, SMC (sheet molding compound) at the 12 points, and stainless steel was found at the 2 points.

Preparation of Water-Repellent Coating Solutions from Tetraethoxysilane and Methyltriethoxysilane by Sol-Gel Method (졸-겔법에 의해 Tetraethoxysilane과 Methyltrimethoxysilane으로부터 발수코팅제 제조)

  • Water-repellent coating solutions were prepared by sol-gel method using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) as precursors. The solutions were spin-coated on a cold-rolled steel sheet and thermally cured to prepare a non-fluorine water-repellent coating films. The effects of molar ratios of MTMS/TEOS, water concentration and ammonia concentration on the hydrophobic properties of the coating films were studied. The contact angle of water on coating films prepared by varying the molar ratio of MTMS/TEOS to 1~20 showed a maximum value of $108^{\circ}$ when the MTMS/TEOS molar ratio was 10. With increasing water content, the coating films showed the larger contact angles and the better the water repellency. As the amount of ammonia added was increased, the contact angles of coating films were increased, showing the better the water repellency. It is considered that the larger the amount of ammonia added, the larger the size of the silica particles generated, which increases the surface roughness of the silica particles, thereby increasing the water repellency.

  • Rotating machines are widely used in industrial world and especially motor and generator take up much part of it. As for this kind of motor and generator, electrical loss due to eddy current is the very important factor and that is also a primary factor causes heat generation. To solve this kind of problem like the above. insulated laminating silicon steel sheet is used to prevent eddy current effect. Laminated rotor is widely used as rotating shaft of motor and generator. Due to that, electrical loss and heat problem can be solved but designer meets another problem. In general. most of the motor and generator can be normally operated under 3,600 rpm because they are designed to have the first critical speed more than that speed. But nowadays, they should be operated more than the first critical speed as usual with the trend of high speed, large scale and high precision in industrial world. The critical speed can be determined from the inertia and stillness for the rotor and bearing of rotating systems. The laminated rotor stiffness can be hardly determined because it can be derived a lot factors for instance rotor material and shape, lamination material and shape, insulation material. lamination force and so on. In this paper, the change of the natural frequency of the motor was examined with the change of the lamination force as an experimental method and design criteria will be presented for motor & generator designer, who can apply the result of numerical analysis with equivalent diameter scheme with ease.

  • 최근 자동차 산업에서는 차체의 무게를 감소시켜 연비향상과 배기가스의 양을 줄이려는 목적으로 고강도 강재의 차체 적용이 증가하고 있다. 또한 다른 여러 산업에서도 두께 감소를 통한 경량화를 위해 고강도 강재가 사용되고 있다. 고강도 강재를 자동차 차체에 적용하면서 용접성에 대한 새로운 문제가 제기 되고 있으며 그 중 자동차 생산라인에서 차체의 조립공정의 대부분을 차지하는 저항 점 용접에 대한 연구가 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 이러한 고강도 강재의 저항 점 용접의 문제점으로는 잦은 날림발생을 들 수 있다. 이는 강도의 증가에 따른 비저항 증가와 필요 가압력의 증가로 인해 입열에 의한 가압부의 소성변형이 쉽게 발생하기 때문이다. 이를 방지하기 위해 현재 다단가압, 다단전류제어 등의 기법들이 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저항 점 용접의 펄스전류 파형설계를 통해 고강도강 용접의 날림발생을 저감하고자 하였다. 실험소재로는 Al-Si 도금의 1.5GPa 급 강재를 사용하였고 실험조건으로는 기존 로브곡선에서 날림이 발생하는 용접조건을 사용하였다. On/Off 방식의 펄스전류를 이용하여 On/Off 시간에 따른 용접성을 평가하여 이를 기존 용접성과 비교하였다. 또한 펄스전류 파형에 따른 입열과 냉각의 변화와 날림발생에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

Low velocity impact response and dynamic stresses of thick high order laminated composite truncated sandwich conical shell based on a new TDOF spring-mass-damper model considering structural damping

  • This paper deals with the low velocity impact response and dynamic stresses of composite sandwich truncated conical shells (STCS) with compressible or incompressible core. Impacts are assumed to occur normally over the top face-sheet and the interaction between the impactor and the structure is simulated using a new equivalent three-degree-of-freedom (TDOF) spring-mass-damper (SMD) model. The displacement fields of core and face sheets are considered by higher order and first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), respectively. Considering continuity boundary conditions between the layers, the motion equations are derived based on Hamilton's principal incorporating the curvature, in-plane stress of the core and the structural damping effects based on Kelvin-Voigt model. In order to obtain the contact force, the displacement histories and the dynamic stresses, the differential quadrature method (DQM) is used. The effects of different parameters such as number of the layers of the face sheets, boundary conditions, semi vertex angle of the cone, impact velocity of impactor, trapezoidal shape and in-plane stresses of the core are examined on the low velocity impact response of STCS. Comparison of the present results with those reported by other researchers, confirms the accuracy of the present method. Numerical results show that increasing the impact velocity of the impactor yields to increases in the maximum contact force and deflection, while the contact duration is decreased. In addition, the normal stresses induced in top layer are higher than bottom layer since the top layer is subjected to impact load. Furthermore, with considering structural damping, the contact force and dynamic deflection decrees.

Multi Point Press Stretch Forming System Applied to Curved Hull Plate of Aluminum Ship (알루미늄 선박의 외판 가공을 위한 인장성형 시스템 연구)

  • Recently, aluminum ships are constructed more than ever because of the environmental pollution generated by FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) ships. In particular, FRP ships have been replaced by the Aluminum ships. The forming process of the curved aluminum plate has been performed only by labor works without systematic technique. Therefore, it is difficult to construct the aluminum ship that the design satisfies both required propulsion performance and hull design. Present study introduces a MPSF (Multi Point Stretching Forming) that is a flexible manufacturing technique to form large sheet panels of doubly curvature. The hull pieces are stretch-formed over the MPSD (multi-point stretching die) generated by the punch element matrix. In this study, MPSF is applied to deform the doubly curved surfaces of aluminum ship. The forming system including FEA (finite element analysis) of the processes for stretching the plate were carried out by static implicit analysis is suggested. Residual deformation of the surface is modeled by an elasto-plastic contact phenomena while the forming process is simulated by FEA. Finally, the proposed system is also validated, comparing the deformed shape by MPSF with that of object surfaces.

Evaluating Local Damages and Blast Resistance of RC Slabs Subjected to Contact Detonation (접촉 폭발 하중을 받는 RC 슬래브의 국부 손상 및 내폭 성능 평가)

  • In this study, the resistance of various reinforced concrete (RC) slabs subjected to contact detonation was assessed. In order to enhance the blast resistance, fibers and external FRP sheets were reinforced to RC slabs. In the experiment, the $2,000{\times}1,000{\times}100mm$ sized RC slabs were fabricated using normal concrete (NC), steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced cementitious composite (PVA FRCC), and ultra-high performance cementitious composites (UHPCC). The damage levels of RC slabs subjected to contact detonation were evaluated by measuring the diameter and depth of crater, spall and breach. The experimental results were compared to the analyzed data using LS-DYNA program and three different prediction equations. The diameter and depth of crater, spall and breach were able to be predicted using LS-DYNA program approximately. The damage process of RC slabs under blast load was also well expressed. Three prediction equations suggested by other researchers had limitations to apply in terms of empirical approaches, therefore it needs further research to set more analytical considerations.

Development of Multi-Action Die for the Forming Process of Serrated Sheets (판재의 돌기성형을 위한 공정 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with the development of multi-action die or multiple sliding die for the forming process of serrated sheets. Serrated sheets is used as a toothed or serrated seal for securing together overlapping portions of steel or plastic strapping ligature and have been produced conventionally in several methods such as rolling and indentation. Recently, longitudinally oriented thermoplastic materials have been widely used in the strapping industry, while such materials are quite slippery. Provided projections on a seal biting into the strap should overcome the slipperiness and also the tooth configuration must be closely controlled to avoid too much transverse penetration of the strap which could result in the shredding of the strap when it is placed under tension. The seal includes a central portion with a plurality of teeth which bite into one strap portion and a pair of reversely bent legs with a plurality of teeth which bite into the other strap portion. Forming processes applicable for serrated sheets have reviewed in qualitative sense to find possibility in terms of applicability of one of existing processes to the serrated sheet forming process. Existing seal products have been analyzed with enlarged picture of strap contacting surface of the seal by microscope. Based on the analyses of the existing forming processes and seal products, a new forming process is proposed for serrated sheets. The proposed process requires a multislide die which enables inclined indentation or cut-in into the seal material as well as scratching processes sequentially in a single action press.

고밀도 알루미늄 박막 코팅과 특성 분석

  • 알루미늄과 그 합금은 내부식성(corrosion resistance)이 좋고, 밀도가 낮아 높은 연료소비 효율을 필요로 하는 항공기와 자동차 같은 운송수단의 내-외장 소재로 사용되고 있다. 또한 알루미늄의 높은 내부식성을 이용하여 철강소재의 부식을 방지하는 보호막으로도 폭 넓게 사용된다. 물리기상증착(physical vapor deposition)으로 알루미늄을 코팅하면 박막 성장 초기단계에서 핵(nucleus)을 형성하고, 형성된 핵을 중심으로 주상 구조(columnar structure)로 박막이 성장하는 것이 일반적으로 알려진 방식이다. 주상 구조의 알루미늄 박막은 주상정과 주상정 사이에 필연적으로 공극(pore)이 존재하게 되어 부식을 일으키는 물질이 박막으로 침투하게 되고, 부식 물질과 모재가 반응하여 공식(pitting corrosion)이 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 스퍼터링(magnetron sputtering)을 이용하여 치밀한 조직을 갖는 알루미늄 박막을 코팅할 수 있는 공정을 개발하고, 치밀한 알루미늄 조직이 내부식성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 평가하였다. 기판은 냉연강판(cold rolled steel sheet)이 사용되었으며, 알루미늄 타겟의 순도는 99.999%, 크기는 직경 4"이었다. 냉연강판은 진공용기(vacuum chamber)에 장착하기 전에 계면활성제를 이용하여 표면에 존재하는 기름성분을 제거하였으며, 진공용기에 장착한 후에는 아르곤 가스를 이용하여 발생시킨 글로우 방전으로 표면에 존재하는 산화물을 제거하였다. 알루미늄 박막의 조직에 영향을 미치는 공정변수를 확인하기 위해서 스퍼터링 파워, 공정 온도, 공정 압력, 외부 자기장 세기 등의 공정 조건을 변화시켜 코팅을 실시하였다. 실험을 통해서 얻어진 최적 조건으로 알루미늄을 코팅할 경우, 알루미늄 bulk의 밀도와 비교하여 약 94.7%의 밀도를 갖는 알루미늄 박막을 코팅할 수 있었다. 알루미늄 박막이 약 3 ${\mu}$m의 두께로 코팅된 냉연강판의 내부식성 평가(salt spray test, 5% NaCl) 결과, 평가를 시작한 후 72시간 후에도 적청이 발생하지 않았다.
