원자력 발전소용 대형 튜브시트 단강품의 개발 (Development of the Large Tubesheet Forgings for Nuclear Power Plant)

  • Large tubesheet forgings of the steam generator for the 1,400MW nuclear power plant has been developed. Steam Generator is one of the most important structural part for nuclear power plant. It is manufactured by various steel forgings such as shell, head, torus and tubesheet. These steel forgings have been made by open die forging process. After steel melting and ingot making, open die forging has been carried out to get a good quality which means high soundness and homogeniety of the steel forgings by using high capacity hydraulic press. This paper introduced the forging process development and manufacturing experience of large tubesheet forgings which will be used for the steam generator of 1,400MW nuclear power plant.

  • In order to prepare for the large power diesel vehicle, the current trend of advanced nations is to shift from the aluminum alloy piston to the steel piston. In this research, a steel forging piston which replaces the aluminum alloy piston is developed to improve the power performance of the diesel engine. The three dimensional flow and combustion analysis of the target engine is conducted. Using the result of the analysis, the piston is optimized, and a prototype of the articulated steel forging piston is built. The reliability of the piston has been evaluated through durability test using a Hydropuls Test Machine for 300,000 km.

  • This study investigated the effect of the changes in metal characteristics due to the hot forging on SCR420HB applied to ensure the optimal production of the hot-forging ratio on the mechanical properties of an automotive automatic transmission gear. The microstructural changes in the forging ratio were investigated by adjusting the forging range into multiple ranges from alloy steel. This was done in order to set the optimum forging range given the manufacturing process conditions during the hot forging of alloy steel parts with a carbon content of more than 0.8% wt. The effects of the content change in the microstructure on the mechanical properties due to the use of the part were examined.

  • 냉간단조금형(Cold Forging Die)의 다이블록(Dieblock)을 제작하는 방법 중의 하나로, 다이블록 제작용 재료를 면가공 하여 다이블록 상면(上面)을 마스터펀치(Master Punch)인 호브(Hob)로 압입(Indentation) 시켜 절삭가공((Cutting Work)이 아닌 다이호빙(Die Hobbing) 방법으로 임프레션(Impression)을 성형하여 제작하고 있다. 이 방법에 의하여 다이블록의 재료를 합금공구강(Alloy Tool Steel)인 SKD11을 사용하여 제작하고, 스테인리스판(Stainless Sheet Metal)을 제품 재료로 하여 냉간단조가공(Cold Forging Work)을 수행하였더니 6,000 스트로크(Stroke)에서 금형수명(Die Life)을 다 하고 파손되었다. 본 논문에서는 다이블록 재료를 고속도공구강(High Speed Tool Steel)인 SKH51로 교체 제작하고, 탄소강(Carbon Steel)인 S45C를 제품 재료로 하여 냉간단조가공을 수행하였더니 21,000 스트로크에서 금형수명을 다하고 파손되어 종래의 방법과 비교 검토하였을 때 350%의 금형수명 연장 효과를 얻게 되었다.

  • Evaluation of microstructural changes is important for process control during open die forging of heavy ingots. The control of forging parameters, such as shape of the dies, reduction, temperature and sequence of passes, is to maximize the forging effects and to minimize inhomogeneities of mechanical properties. The hot working die steel is produced by using the multistage open die forging. The structure is altered during forging by subsequent Precesses of plastic deformation, recrystallization and grain growth. A numerical analysis using an rigid visco-plastic finite element model was performed to predict microstructural evolution of hot working die steel.

  • In hot forging the blocker is a transient shape between the buster and the finisher, In general as the finisher shape becomes complicated the blocker design becomes quite difficult. In the present study an expert system is developed for the blocker die design of axisymmetric hot steel forging. It is a rule based system written in Fortran and AutoLISP operating on a personal computer. In this paper the major rules considered in the system are summarized and several blockers designed by the system are discussed with results of rigid viscoplastic finite element analysis.

  • Current state of plastic processes of steel bearing parts is surveyed. According to the advances in plastic forming technologies and their great advantage to mass production, plastic processes are adopted in manufacturing majority of bering parts. The rings are forged or ring rolled and the rolling elements, i.e, balls or rollers are cold formed before fine machining. Bearing's steel retainers are mainly press formed using cold rolled seel strips. Including the general explanation about above processes, some details of forging technology, control of forging temperature and after cooling process, and examples of computer simulation are described.

  • Microstructures and mechanical properties of microalloyed cold forging steel and cold forged prototype automobile part are characterized. The work hardening according to the increase of plastic strain plays a major role in increasing the tensile strength of microalloyed cold forging steel during cold forming. On the other hand, inhomogeneous distribution of plastic strain causes variations in microstructure and mechanical properties. The relation between inhomogeneous distribution of plastic strain and variations in microstructure and mechanical properties is discussed. The variation of mechanical property in cold forged automobile part is analyzed using quantitative evaluation of plastic strain from finite element method.

Head forgings has been made by open die forging process. After steel melting and ingot making, open die forging has been carried out to get a good quality which means high soundness and homogeniety of the steel forgings by using high capacity hydraulic press. This paper introduced the development trend of the open die forging process and manufacturing experience of large head forgings which canl be used for the reactor vessel of nuclear power plant.

초 고 탄소 저합금강의 경도와 인성에 미치는 열간단조의 영향 (Effect of Hot Forging on the Hardness and Toughness of Ultra High Carbon Low Alloy Steel)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of hot forging on the hardness and impact value of ultra high carbon low alloy steel. With increasing hot forging ratio, thickness of the network and acicular proeutectoid cementite decreased, and than were broken up into particle shapes, when the forging ratio was 80%, the network and acicular shape of the as-cast state disappeared. Interlamellar spacing and the thickness of eutectoid cementite decreased with increasing forging ratio, and were broken up into particle shapes, which then became spheroidized. With increasing hot forging ratio, hardness, tensile strength, elongation and impact value were not changed up 50%, and then hardness rapidly decreased, while impact value rapidly increased. Hardness and impact value was greatly affected by the disappeared of network and acicular shape of proeutectoid cementite, and became particle shape than thickness reduction of proeutectoid and eutectoid cementite.
