Machining with boring bars frequently induce chatter vibration because of the low stiffness and damping of cantilever shape of boring bars. To increase stiffness and damping, a carbon fiber epoxy composite boring bar was designed, manufactured and tested. The natural frequency of the carbon fiber epoxy composite boring bar in the free-free end condition was incerased more than 50% over that of the steel boring bar, and the damping of the carbon fiber epoxy composite boring bar was also increased 450%. The fundamental natural frequency of the carbon fiber epoxycomposite boring bar in the cantilever beam condition was found to be increased 20-30% over that of the steel boring bar in overhang length range 140-200mm. In machining S45C tapered workpieces, the limit of the overhang length of the steel boring bar was about 170mm in cutting speed 140m/min.

This paper describes the design methodology, manufacturing process, rebar tensile and bending properties. Braidtrusion is a direct Composite fabrication technique utilizing an in-line braiding and pultrusion process. The produced Composite rebar exhibits ductile stress-strain behavior similar to that of conventional steel bar. Various rebar diameters ranging from modeling scale(3m) to full-scale prototype of 9.5mm have been produced Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics(GFRP) rebar were successfully fabricated at $\phi$8.5mm and $\phi$9.5mm nominal diameters of soild and hollow type using a braidtrusion process. Tensile and bending specimens were tested and compared with behavior of stress-strain of GFRP rebar and steel bar.
Steel fiber composite bar (SFCB) is a novel type of reinforcement, which has good ductility and durability performance. Due to the unique pseudo strain hardening tensile behavior of SFCB, different flexural behavior is expected of SFCB reinforced concrete (SFCB-RC) beams from traditional steel bar reinforced concrete (S-RC) beams and FRP bar reinforced concrete (F-RC) beams. To investigate the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC beam, four points bending tests were carried out and different flexural behaviors between S/F/SFCB-RC beams were discussed. An flexural analytical model of SFCB-RC beams is proposed and proved by the current and existing experimental results. Based on the proposed model, the influence of the fiber volume ratio R of the SFCB on the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC beams is discussed. The results show that the proposed model is effective for all S/F/SFCB-RC flexural members. Fiber volume ratio R is a key parameter affecting the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC. By controlling the fiber volume ratio of SFCB reinforcements, the flexural behavior of the SFCB-RC flexural members such as bearing capacity, bending stiffness, ductility and repairability of SFCB-RC structures can be designed.
The objective of this research is to investigate the mechanical characteristics of the hybrid fiber reinforced composite rebar, which is manufactured from a braidtrusion process. Braidtrusion is a direct composite fabrication technique, utilizing in-line brading and the pultrusion process. hz order to obtain the mechanical behavior of the glass fiber, carbon fiber, and kevlar fiber, the tensile tests are carried out. The results of the fibers are compared with that of steel. Hybrid rebar specimens with various diameters, ranging from model size (3 mm) to full-scale size (9.5 mm), and various cross sections, such as solid and hollow shape, have been manufactured from the braidtrusion process. The tensile and bending tests for the case of the hybrid rebar, the conventional GFRP rebar, and the steel bar have been carried out. The results of the experiments show that the hybrid rebar is superior to the conventional GFRP rebar and the steel bar, from the viewpoint of tensile and bending characteristics.

Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite, DFRCC has strain hardening property with multiple crack in failed of compressive, tensile, bending force, concrete is not so that. But DFRCC could not use to the building element for which has not structural stiffness only has ductile property. DFRCC is used for repair only in recently. In that reason, we considered the concrete of light weight concrete, porous concrete, mortar complex with DFRCC. and DFRCC reinforced by fiber net, steel bar. In this study, results of experiment on complex method of concrete and DFRC were shown as follows; The complex methods of concrete lay on DFRCC, sandwich layer composition were effective for bending force depending on section size each layer, and reinforce DFRCC by fiber net, steel bar was effective method also.
The CFRP bar was used to achieve more ductile and durable headed-stud shear connectors in composite components. Three series of push-out tests were firstly conducted, including specimens reinforced with pure steel fibers, steel and CFRP bars. The distributed stress was measured by the commercial PPP-BOTDA (Pre-Pump-Pulse Brillouin optical time domain analysis) optical fiber sensor with high spatial resolution. A series of numerical analyses using non-linear FE models were also made to study the shear force transfer mechanism and crack response based on the test results. Test results show that the CFRP bar increases the shear strength and stiffness of the large diameter headed-stud shear connection, and it has equivalent reinforcing effects on the stud shear capacity as the commonly used steel bar. The embedded CFRP bar can also largely improve the shear force transfer mechanism and decrease the tensile stress in the transverse direction. The parametric study shows that low content steel fibers could delay the crack initiation of slab around the large diameter stud, and the CFRP bar with normal elastic modulus and the standard reinforcement ratio has good resistance to splitting crack growth in headed stud shear connectors.

This paper describes the need for a ductile Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP) reinforcement for concrete structures. Using the material hybrid and geometric hybrid, it is demonstrated that the pseudo-ductility characteristic can be generated in FRP rebar. Ductile hybrid FRP bars were successfully fabricated at 4mm and l0mm nominal diameters using an hand lay up method. Tensile specimens from these bars were tested and compared with behavior of FRP rebar and steel bar
An experimental investigations on the bond-slip properties of the steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer(GFRP) bars in engineered cementitious composite (ECC) with Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) fibers are presented. Total of 8 beam specimens prepared according to the Rilem procedures with 2% of PVA and PE fiber volume percentage and steel and GFRP reinforcements significantly changed the failure mechanism and slightly improved bond strength. The main objective of the tests was to evaluate the load versus displacement and load versus slip behaviors and the bond strength for the following parameters: concrete type (normal and fiber concrete) and bar diameter (10 and 13 mm). The study results showed that ordinary concrete and ECC specimens showed similar behavior for steel reinforced specimen. However, GFRP reinforced specimen showed different behavior that the steel specimen. The code analytical results showed more accuracy compared to the experimental results as expected in conservative code provisions. Based on the obtained results, it is safe to conclude that the new parameters need to be adopted to ensure safe usage of ECC for construction applications.

FRP re-bar in concrete structures could be used as a substitute of steel re-bars for that cases in which aggressive environment produce high steel corrosion, or lightweight is an important design factor, or transportation cost increase significantly with the weight of the materials. But FRP fibers have only linearly elastic stress-strain behavior; whereas, steel re-bar has linear elastic behavior up to the yield point followed by large plastic deformation and strain hardening. Thus, the current FRP re-bars are not suitable concrete reinforcement where a large amount of plastic deformation prior to collapse is required. The main objectives of this study in to evaluate the tensile behavior and the fracture mode of hybrid FRP re-bar. Fracture mode of hybrid FRP re-bar is unique. The only feature common to the failure of the hybrid FRP re-bars and the composite is the random fiber fracture and multilevel fracture of sleeve fibers, and the resin laceration behavior in both the sleeve and the core areas. Also, the result of the tensile and interlaminar shear stress test results of hybrid FRP re-bar can provide its excellent tensile strength-strain and interlaminar stress-strain behavior.

FRP Composite materials are widely applicable in the construction industries as a load-bearing structural element or a reinforcing and/or repairing materials for the concrete. In this paper, we presented the flexural behavior of FRP Re-bar and steel reinforced concrete beams and only FRP re-bars reinforced concrete beams. FRP Re-bar manufactured by different fibers but the same vinylester resin. Also, surface of FRP Re-bars is coated garnet and glass fiber by epoxy to increase the adhesive to concrete. Experimental investigation pertaining to the load-deflection and load-strain characteristics of two classfied specimens is presented and the theoretical prediction is also conducted. In the investigation, the effects of FRP Re-bar reinforcement are estimated. The experimental results arc compared with theoretical predictions. Good agreements arc observed.
