Influence of Stator Structure on Vibration of Switched Reluctance Motor

  • This paper deals with the influence of the various stator structures in a Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) on the vibration behaviors. The stator part in SRMs produces most vibrations. Therefore, the geometric design of the stator is necessary to reduce the vibration. The free and forced vibrations for four different stator yoke structures are analyzed by the electromagnetic and structural Finite Element Method (FEM). Then vibration stator structure that offers less is proposed. The modal analysis results of a tested motor are compared with measurements.

  • SRM is designed to meet operating standards such as low cost, simple magnetic structure, a desired operating speed range, high efficiency, high performance, and good matching for DC power. The magnetic flux of SRM is independent of its direction to develop a torque and it allows the flexible characteristics of the magnetic structure for SRM. In this paper, SRM can widely classify two types, Radial-Flux SRM and Axial-Flux SRM, according to the flux direction. Radial-Flux SRM includes Conventional, Segmented stator and rotor, and Double stator SRM, etc. and Axial-Flux SRM includes C-core stator and the Axial-airgap SRM. This paper is subjected the basic characteristics to select the best of the magnetic structure of SRM in the appropriate application by the classification of SRM.

Fluid/Structure Coupled Analysis of 3D Turbine Blade Considering Stator-rotor Interaction (스테이터-로터 상호간섭 효과를 고려한 3차원 터빈 블레이드의 유체/구조 연계해석)

  • In this study, fluid/structure coupled analyses have been conducted for 3-D stator and rotor configuration. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and computational structural dynamics(CSD) has been developed in order to investigate fluid/structure responses of general stator-rotor configurations. To solve the fluid/structure coupled problems, fluid domains are modeled using the structural grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming techniques. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with Spalart-Allmaras(S-A) and SST ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of the 3-D turbine blades for fluid-structure interaction(FSI) problems. Detailed fluid/structure analysis responses for stator-rotor interaction flow conditions are presented to show the physical performance and flow characteristics.

  • In this paper, a novel bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM) with double stator is proposed. This motor has two stators. Torque stator is outside, which mainly produces rotational torque. Radial force stator is inside, which mainly generates radial force to suspend the rotor. A novel structure and operating principle are presented. And characteristics of the proposed structure such as magnetic flux distribution, inductance, torque and radial force are analyzed through finite element method. From the analysis, the proposed BLSRM has linear characteristic of radial force and independence from torque current.

  • Novel structure ultrasonic motors which have cross type stator were designed and fabricated. Driving characteristics of the motors were analyzed and measured by changing the materials of the stator. This ultrasonic motor has stator with hollowed cross bar and the stator rotate the rotor using elliptical displacement of the inside tips. This motion is generated by lateral vibration mode of cross bars. This stator was analyzed by finite element analysis depandent on stator's materials. And the cross type ultrasonic motors were made by analyzed results. The larger displacements were obtained, when the density of material was decreased. But the stress was increased when the stator's material has large density and Young's modulus. The fabricated one has high speed and torque in large stress on contact point between rotor and stator. The stress was more effected on speed and torque than the displacement.

A Design on Reduction Cogging Torque of Dual Generator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet Generator for Small Wind Turbine

  • In this paper, the design for an electromagnetic structure and reduction cogging torque of a dual generator structured RFPM generator, which is a combination of the inner- and outer-rotor types, has been proposed. We call this a dual generator radial flux permanent magnet generator. To reduce the cogging torque, firstly, stator tooth pairing was designed; secondly, stator displacement was designed and finally, stator tooth pairing and stator displacement were carried out simultaneously. We found the optimal design condition about stator tooth pairing angle combination and stator displacement angle for cogging torque minimization. As a result, a cogging was reduced by 93.3[%] by this study.

  • The SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) is composed of silicon steel plates where the rotor structure is simple and laminated without coil winding or permanent magnet, making it mechanically robust and its maintenance and repair excellent. Applying SRM as traction motor for railway vehicle is given consideration because of its ruggedness capability in severe loading condition and its compact structure. Optimal design of SRM is needed to reduce torque ripple to apply SRM for railway traction drive because SRM has high torque ripple. In this paper, switched reluctance motor with three different stator pole shapes is taken for magnetic analysis using 3d finite element method to apply SRM as traction drive for railway vehicle. It is observed that the model 3 added Tooth Tang Depth and Slot Round to stator shape gives the improved inductance and torque characteristic.

  • The piezoelectric ceramic is attached between 'L' type guide and 'L' type stator. This motor has rotary motion which is operated by the travelling wave. The basic structure of the two kinds of type motor that called one stator motor, two stator motor is same but we suggested a few parameters for considering their stator design and characteristics. As a result, the two stator type motor is much more useful than one stator type motor for bi-direction rotation.
