Supplementary analyses of economic X over bar chart model

  • With the increasing interest of reducing process variation, statistical process control has served the pivotal tool in most industrial quality programs. In this study, system analyses have been performed associated with a cost incorporated version of a process control, a quadratic loss-based X over bar control chart model. Specifically, two issues, the capital/research investments for improvement of a system and the precision of a parameter estimation, have been addressed and discussed. Through the analysis of experimental results, we show that process variability is seen to be one of the most important sources of loss and quality improvement efforts should be directed to reduce this variability. We further derive the results that, even if the optimal designs may be sensitive, the model appears to be robust with regard to misspecification of parameters. The approach and discussion taken in this study provide a meaningful guide for proper process control. We conclude this study with providing general comments.

광화학측정망에서 측정한 휘발성유기화합물의 정도관리 방법 (Quality Assurance and Quality Control method for Volatile Organic Compounds measured in the Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Station)

  • The hourly volatile organic compounds(VOCs) concentrations between 2005 and 2008 at Bulgwang photochemical assessment monitoring station were investigated to establish a method for quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC) procedure. Systematic error, erratic error, and random error, which was manifested by outlier and highly fluctuated data, were checked and removed. About 17.3% of the raw data were excluded according to the proposed QA/QC procedure. After QA/QC, relative standard deviation for representing 15 species concentrations decreased from 94.7-548.0% to 63.4-125.8%, implying the QA/QC procedure is proper. For further evaluation about the adequacy of QA/QC procedure, principal components analysis(PCA) was carried out. When the data after QA/QC procedure was used for PCA, the extracted principal components were different from the result from the raw data and could logically explain the major emission sources(gasoline vapor, vehicle exhaust, and solvent usage). The QA/QC procedure based on the concept of errors is inferred to proper to be applied on VOCs. However, an additional QA/QC step considering the relationship between species in the atmosphere needs to be further considered.

WISE 복합기상센서 관측 자료 품질관리시스템 (The WISE Quality Control System for Integrated Meteorological Sensor Data)

  • A real-time quality control system for meteorological data (air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation) measured by an integrated meteorological sensor has been developed based on comparison of quality control procedures for meteorological data that were developed by the World Meteorological Organization and the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), using time series and statistical analysis of a 12-year meteorological data set observed from 2000 to 2011 at the Incheon site in Korea. The quality control system includes missing value, physical limit, step, internal consistency, persistence, and climate range tests. Flags indicating good, doubtful, erroneous, not checked, or missing values were added to the raw data after the quality control procedure. The climate range test was applied to the monthly data for air temperature and pressure, and its threshold values were modified from ${\pm}2{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ to ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}6{\sigma}$, respectively, in order to consider extreme phenomena such as heat waves and typhoons. In addition, the threshold values of the step test for air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, and wind speed were modified to $0.7^{\circ}C$, 0.4 hPa, 5.9%, and $4.6m\;s^{-1}$, respectively, through standard deviation analysis of step difference according to their averaging period. The modified quality control system was applied to the meteorological data observed by the Weather Information Service Engine in March 2014 and exhibited improved performance compared to the KMA procedures.

  • Both in-process quality control and high reliability of the weld is one of the major concerns in applying friction welding to the economical and qualified mass-production. No reliable nondestructive monitoring method is available at present to determine the real-time evaluation of automatic production quality control for friction welding of special hydraulic valve spool of 16mm in diameter. This paper, so that, presents the experimental examinations and statistical quantitative analysis of the correlation between the initial cumulative counts of acoustic emission(AE) occurring during plastic deformation periods of the welding and the tensile strength and other properties of the welded joints of $\phi16$ valve spool as well as the various welding variables, as a new approach which attempts finally to develop real-time quality monitoring system for friction welding.

  • Statistical control charts are useful tools to monitor and control the manufacturing processes and are widely used in most Korean industries. Many Korean companies, however, do not always obtain desired results from the traditional control charts by Shewhart such as the $\overline{X}$-chart, X-chart, $\widetilde{X}$-chart, etc. This is partly because the quality charterstics of the process are not distributed normally but are skewed due to the intermittent production, small lot size, etc. In the Shewhart $\overline{X}$-chart, which is the most widely used one in Korea, such skewed distributions make the plots to be inclined below or above the central line or outside the control limits although no assignable causes can be found. To overcome such shortcomings in nonnormally distributed processes, a distribution-free type of confidence interval can be used, which should be based on order statistics. This thesis is concerned with the design of control chart based on a sample median which is easy to use in practical situation and therefore properties for nonnormal distributions may be easily analyzed. Control limits and central lines are given for the more famous nonnormal distributions, such as Gamma, Beta, Lognormal, Weibull, Pareto, and Truncated-normal distributions.

  • In these days of world-wide business environment, the characteristics of quality management are variety, specialty, decentralization, totality, etc. Thus nowadays quality management is demanded to incorporate these new concepts. We propose a web-bused distributed expert system for this purpose. The system consists of four expert systems for design of experiment, acceptance inspection, statistical process control and reliability management corresponding to design quality, incoming-material quality, manufacturing quality and usability quality, respectively, throughout the total product life cycle. Each distributed expert system at the horizontal level in the hierarchy carries out its own quality jobs independently. At the lower level in the hierarchy there is an expert system for measurement analysis to provide reliable data, and at the upper level, an expert system for total quality management to coordinate, integrate and make final decisions. A prototype has been developed and its application is presented.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of ankle strengthening and proprioceptor exercise, including gluteus-medius strengthening exercise, on ankle strength, dynamic and static balance, ankle function, and quality of life in 24 adults without ankle instability. Methods: After randomly classifying 12 people per group into the experimental group and the control group, Home-exercise rehabilitation program was conducted for a total of 2 weeks. The control group performed ankle strengthening and proprioceptor exercise 5 times a week for 15 minutes, and the experimental group was performed by adding 15 minutes of gluteus-medius strengthning exercise to the exercise performed by the control group. The SPSS 27.0 program was used for statistical analysis. Results: Both groups showed statistically significant differences in the plantar flexion muscle strength, Y-Balance test, side hop test, quality of life. But, only experimental group showed statistically significant differences dorsi-flexion muscle strength and hip abduction muscle strength. There was no statistical difference in comparison of difference values between groups. Conclusion: These exercises can provide useful home rehabilitation programs for sports populations seeking to prevent injury in sports.

유역과 담수호를 연계한 담수호 수질관리 시스템 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Freshwater Lake Water Quality Management System(ELAQUM) through the Linkage of Watershed and Freshwater Lake)

  • A freshwater lake water quality management system(FLAQUM) was developed to help regional manager for the water quality of a rural basin. The integrated user interface system FLAQUM written in Visual Basic, includes three subsystems such as a database management system, basin pollutant loads simulation model using SWMM model and freshwater lake water quality simulation model using WASP5 model. Pollutant load simulation model was applied to simulate the discharge and pollutant loading from the watershed, and freshwater lake water quality model was applied to analyze the changes in water quality with respect to watershed pollutant loads, and this model could be used in planning to control watershed pollutant source for water quality management. Database management system was constructed fur all input and output data processing, and it can be used to analyze statistical characteristics using constructed data. Results are displayed both graph and text for convenience of user. The results of FLAQUM application to Boryeong freshwater lake showed that the lake was in eutrophic condition. The major contribution of pollution comes from tributary No.1 and No.4, which have a large number of livestock farms. Therefore, water quality management must be focused on appropriate management of the livestock farming in the two breanchs.

  • 최근 다변량 공정관리는 다양한 응용 분야에서 중요해지고 있는 추세이다. 예를 들어, 제조 산업 분야에서는 다변량 품질특성치를 동시에 모니터링할 필요가 있다. 그러나, 다변량 관리도는 이상신호가 발생한 경우 그 원인이 되는 개별적인 변수를 식별하기가 어렵기 때문에, 실제로는 기대만큼 유용하게 쓰이고 있지 않은 형편이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 새로운 관측치에 대한 개별적인 신뢰구간을 사용하여 이상신호의 원인을 탐지하는 세 가지 방법을 소개하고, 시뮬레이션 연구를 통해 이상신호의 원인이 되는 개별적인 변수를 식별하고 해석하는 데 있어 주의할 점이 무엇인지 살펴보기로 한다.

  • The following study has been undertaken to build QIP (Quality Improvement Process) of an inner-layer process in a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing plant. The objective of the study is stabilization and optimization of the process through quality improvement. To do that, defective factors in process are gathered by the cause and effect analysis and classified by PFD (Process Flow Diagram), key factors are found out by PFMECA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Criticalty Analisis), DOE(Design of Experiments) is a, pp.ied to those key factors to optimize the process, SPC (Statistical Process Control) chart is used to maintain the optimal conditions of the process and to improve quality continuously, and a quality management system is developed to improve quality mind and quality system for the PCB jmanufacturing plant. Overall, QIP is established to improve quality for the PCB manufacturing plant in the study.
