GNP법에 의한 $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)MnO_{3+\delta}$ 분말의 환원특성 (Reduction Properties of $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)MnO_{3+\delta}$ Powder by GNP)

  • In this study, (La,Sr)$MnO_{3+\delta}$ powder used cathode material for SOFC was synthesized with precursor by GNP and the properties of powder, crystal phase, electric properties and deoxidization properties with precursor were investigated. The synthesis powder was prepared when oxidant/fuel mole and pH were 1 and 1, respectively and the synthesis powder was synthesized by GNP method using nitrate solution or oxide solution as precursor. Deoxidization peak of the nitrate solution was appeared lower temperature than the oxide solution, at $450^{\circ}C$. In this result, synthesis (La,Sr)$MnO_{3+\delta}$ powder using nitrate solution with Mn excess was suitable cathode material for SOFC due to had higher deoxidization properties. Also synthesis (La,Sr)$MnO_{3+\delta}$ powder according to precursor had difference electrical conductivity according to influence sintering density and crystal phase with precursor. Specially, the synthesis method and starting material had effect on deoxidization properties for SOFC.

  • The BSCCO 2223 Ag-sheathed tapes were prepared with spray dried precursor powders, which are of different starting condition. The J$_c$ in the short tapes varied from 24 kA/ cm$^2$ to 47 kA/ cm$^2$ at 77K and 0T. The largely improvement of J$_c$ in certain tape, which characterized with the large textured BSCCO 2223 grains, homogeneity of reactant and fewer tracks of second phases in final superconducting matrixes, could be due to optimization in the precursor powder.

  • [ $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-8}$ ] (YBCO) coated conductor has been fabricated by batch-type process using oxide-precursor-based metal-organic deposition (MOD) method. The batch-type process can be scaled up more simply to Produce long-length YBCO conductor than the reel-to-reel process. Also, it has less handling problems and is adequate to the ambient gas environment. In this work, YBCO oride powder was used as a starting precursor for MOD method. After reel-to-reel dip coating process, me ter-long-buffered metal tape was wound around a cylinder and underwent calcination and annealing processes. Annealed YBCO films showed good c-axis alignment and dense surface morphology with no cracks, but exhibited very low critical current density of $10^5\;A/cm^2$.

Optimum Synthesis and Characterization of Precursor Solution for a Hard Coating Silica Film Prepared by Sol-Gel Process

  • Crack-free hard coating siIica films were prepared by sol-gel processfrom twokinds of silicon alkoxide (tetra-ethoxysilane and methyltrimethoxysilane) and two kinds of alcohol (methanol and isopropyl alcohol) with an acid catalyst,acetic acid. A silicate framework of the precursor solution was investigated by infrared spectros-copy (IR) in the process of hydrolysis and condensation. Theextent of the condensation in the intermediates was elucidated by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and 29Si-NMR spectroscopy. The hard coating films werecharacterized by IR,scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA) and dif-ferential scanning calroimeter (DSC). The synthetic condition for the crack-free and transparent silica film for-mation was optimized interms of starting materials for the precursor solution as well as preparation method of the silica film.

거대기공 다공질 탄화규소 세라믹스의 꺾임강도 (Flexural Strength of Macroporous Silicon Carbide Ceramics)

  • Macroporous silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics were fabricated by powder processing and polymer processing using carbon-filled polysiloxane as a precursor. The effects of the starting SiC polytype, template type, and template content on porosity and flexural strength of macroporous SiC ceramics were investigated. The ${\beta}$-SiC powder as a starting material or a filler led to higher porosity than ${\alpha}$-SiC powder, owing to the impingement of growing ${\alpha}$-SiC grains, which were transformed from ${\beta}$-SiC during sintering. Typical flexural strength of powder-processed macroporous SiC ceramics fabricated from ${\alpha}$-SiC starting powder and polymer microbeads was 127 MPa at 29% porosity. In contrast, that of polymer-processed macroporous SiC ceramics fabricated from carbon-filled polysiloxane, ${\beta}$-SiC fillers, and hollow microspheres was 116MPa at 29% porosity. The combination of ${\alpha}$-SiC starting powder and a fairly large amount (10 wt%) of $Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$ additives led to macroporous SiC ceramics with excellent flexural strength.

  • MOD Process using metal acetates or trifluoroacetates has been considered to be a strong candidate for a low cost fabrication process for coated conductor with high $J_e$. Recently, an economical MOI) process has been developed for coated conductor with high $J_c$ using low cost starting materials such as YBCO powders. YBCO thin films prepared by single coating on LAO substrate with this modified oxide-precursor solution gives transport $I_c$ of 100A/cm-w and the $J_c$ value of $2.9MA/cm^{2}$ (77K, Self-field). The YBCO coated conductor prepared by single coating with $CeO_2/IBAD-YSZ/SS$ tape gives transport $I_c$ of 50A/cm-w in 2cm. Characterization with XRD, SEM shows that the YBCO layers were epitaxially grown and exhibit well-developed dense micro-structures. This newly developed oxide-precursor based MOD process will provide a low cost route to coated conductor with high $J_c$.

  • A solvothermal synthetic method to $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticle has been investigated in toluene solution with $BaTi(OR)_6$ as precursor. A precursor prepared from barium metal with toluene, isopropanol and titanium isopropoxide was used as a starting material. Weight ratio of precursor to solvent prepared in the mixture are 5/100, 10/100, 20/100 and 50/100wt%. At the weight ratio of 50/100wt%, $BaTiO_3$ butterfly twin crystalline(${\fallingdotseq}100nm$) was obtained after synthesis at $250^{\circ}C$ for 20hrs in an autoclave. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy showed that the product of 50/100wt% has crystallization. At 5/100, 10/100, and 20/100wt%, however, red colloidal solution was obtained after synthesis and crystalline phase of $BaTiO_3$ was not produced.

  • YBCO coated conductors have been fabricated with a newly developed oxide-precursor-based MOD process. The precursor solution was synthesized with low cost YBCO powders as starting materials and YBCO coated conductors have been deposited on IBAD substrate ($CeO_2$/IBAD-YSZ/SS). YBCO coated conductor prepared by dip coating shows transport $I_c$ of 15A/cm-w at 77 K. Microstructural and crystallographic analyses indicate that YBCO layer was grown in epitaxy with substrate and exhibited well-developed dense microstructure. Also discussed are processing and analysis of YBCO coated conductor by slot-die web coating method. It was shown that this oxide-based MOD process provides a low cost route to coated conductor with high $J_c$.

Preparation of Phase Pure Cuprate Superconductors via The Modification of Sol-Gel Method

  • A modification of the sol-gel method to obtain phase pure superconducting oxides is described. The method starts from organic salts of yttrium, barium and copper, such as acetates, and avoids the sudden and uncontrollable decomposition of the organic fraction which occurs if nitrates are used as starting materials. The aqueous solution obtained with citric acid in an alkaline medium is concentrated under vacuum. The solid so prepared is decomposed at about $300^{\circ}C$ thus giving an oxide precursor containing well dispersed yttrium, barium and copper. Pyrolysis at 850 - $920^{\circ}C$ followed by oxygen annealing gives the superconducting orthorhombic 123 phase. The results of TGA/DTA of the precursor, as well as XRD, electrical and magnetic property measurements on the pyrolysis products are presented and discussed.

  • 분무열분해된 전구체로부터 수열반응에 의해 분말 Zinc-Silicate 형광물질 합성에 대하여 연구하였다. 열분해 전구체를 사용한 수열반응의 특징은 고상반응에서의 분쇄시의 불순물의 함유를 배제하였으며, $250^{\circ}C$의 수열반응에 의해 $\alpha-Zn_2SiO_4$ 분말합성이 가능하였다.
