Scheduling Start-up Transient Periods of Dual Armed Cluster Tools (양팔 클러스터장비의 초기 전이 기간 스케줄링)

  • A cluster tool used in many kinds of semiconductor processes for improving the performance and the quality of wafers has a simple configuration, but its schedule is not easy because of its parallel processing module, a lack of intermediate buffers, and time constraints. While there have been many studies on its schedule, most of them have focused on full cycles in which identical work cycles are repeated under constant task times. In this research, we suggest strategies of start-up transient scheduling which satisfies time constraints and converges into a desirable steady schedule for full work cycle. The proposed schedules are expected robust under the stationary stochastic task times. Finally, we show that the strategies make schedules enters the desirable steady schedule and robust using the simulation.

Evaluation on Reducing Peak Cooling Load Based on Dynamic Load Model of Building Perimeter Zones (건물의 외주부 존에 대한 동적 부하모델 이용 피크냉방부하 저감효과 분석)

  • In this paper, inverse building modeling was applied to building perimeter zones which have different window orientation. Two test zones of east-facing and west-facing zones in ERS(Energy Resource Station) building, which is representative of small commercial building, was used to test performance of cooling load calculation and peak cooling load reduction. The dynamic thermal load model for the east and west zone was validated using measured data for the zones and then it was used to investigate the effect of peak cooling load reduction by adjustment of indoor cooling temperature set points during on-peak time period. For the east zone, the peak load can be reduced to about 60% of the peak load for conventional control even without any precooling. For the west zone, PLR is nearly independent of the start of the on-peak period until a start time of 1pm. Furthermore, PLR has a small dependence on the precooling duration. Without any precooling, the peak cooling load can be reduced to about 35% of the peak load associated with conventional control.

  • Tunnel Boring Machine's Technology has depends mostly on imports, currently domestic technology development was proceeding. There are many technologies in this field, above all, the large-capacity motor drive technology required for excavation is one of the core technologies. In particular, when several large motors are simultaneously starting, there are many problems due to a large starting current at that time, and it is difficult to design and operate a power receiving facility. In this paper, A method of reducing the starting current by using the regenerative power generated by the deceleration of the motor has been studied. To verify this proposal, we designed the induction motor controller using CAE based power simulation tool and verified the results of the proposed method by applying the reduced model. As a result, it is possible to reduce the maximum starting current and shorten the start-up time. Moreover, even if several motors are connected to one bank, it is proved that the method can be efficiently operated by using the sequential braking / starting sequence. In the case of a power system in which a large capacity electric motor such as a tunnel excavation system is driven, the results of this study are expected to be a stable and effective method for solving the start-up current problem and designing the power receiving facility.

Shipyard Skid Sequence Optimization Using a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm

  • In this paper, we propose a novel genetic algorithm to reduce the overall span time by optimizing the skid insertion sequence in the shipyard subassembly process. We represented a solution by a permutation of a set of skid ids and applied genetic operators suitable for such a representation. In addition, we combined the genetic algorithm and the existing heuristic algorithm called UniDev which is properly modified to improve the search performance. In particular, the slow skid search part in UniDev was changed to a greedy algorithm. Through extensive large-scaled simulations, it was observed that the span time of our method was stably minimized compared to Multi-Start search and a genetic algorithm combined with UniDev.

Comparison of event tree/fault tree and convolution approaches in calculating station blackout risk in a nuclear power plant

  • Station blackout (SBO) risk is one of the most significant contributors to nuclear power plant risk. In this paper, the sequence probability formulas derived by the convolution approach are compared with those derived by the conventional event tree/fault tree (ET/FT) approach for the SBO situation in which emergency diesel generators fail to start. The comparison identifies what makes the ET/FT approach more conservative and raises the issue regarding the mission time of a turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump (TDP), which suggests a possible modeling improvement in the ET/FT approach. Monte Carlo simulations with up-to-date component reliability data validate the convolution approach. The sequence probability of an alternative alternating current diesel generator (AAC DG) failing to start and the TDP failing to operate owing to battery depletion contributes most to the SBO risk. The probability overestimation of the scenario in which the AAC DG fails to run and the TDP fails to operate owing to battery depletion contributes most to the SBO risk overestimation determined by the ET/FT approach. The modification of the TDP mission time renders the sequence probabilities determined by the ET/FT approach more consistent with those determined by the convolution approach.

The Design of a neural network control chart using X-R statistics in start-up process (초기공정에서 X-R 통계량을 이용한 신경망 관리도 설계)

  • I propose the control chart pattern to provide a more comprehensive scheme for detecting process X and R shifts using individual observations in start-up process. It is important to automate the identification of special disturbances to facilitate real-time manufacturing. This papers formulates X-R charts for interpretation by artificial neural networks. In this papers, which uses the backpropagation algorithm, two samples are fed into the trained neural network to provide outputs ranging from 0 to 1. Simulation results sow that the performance of the proposed control chart using the neural network(NNCC) is quite promising. Using these NN charts, guidelines are given for detecting and classifying process X and R shifts.

  • Nowadays, gasoline direct injection engines are being commercialized by virtue of improvement in control technology of spray, flow, air fuel ratio. The stratified charge type has the advantage of improving lean limit. The homogeneous type has the advantage of reducing engine-out hydrocabon emissions in the first 30 seconds after a cold start, in addition, improving transient air fuel ratio control. The vaporization and mixing if injected fuel with air has to e completed in a short time and the fuel film in cylinder and on piston has to be minimized. So, the flow and injection should be well controlled. This paper surveyed the spray characteristics of gasoline direct injection by using laser equipment and the combustion characteristics of the single cylinder engine using homogeneousas-mixture type gasoline direct injection.

  • A combined buck and boost push-pull quantum series resonant rectifier(PPQSRR) is newly proposed to achieve a power factor correction without start-up inrush current. Based on the developed dynamic modeling of the proposed rectifier, an inrush current elimination control technique is proposed and the usefullness of the proposed rectifier and control method are verified by computer simulation and experimental results. With the proposed control method, a high power factor and wide range of output voltage can be obtained.

A Numerical Study on the Compression Wave Generated by the Train Entering a Tunnel (열차가 터널에 진입할 때 발생하는 압축파에 대한 수치해석)

  • The numerical simulations on the train entering a tunnel were performed by solving unsteady axi-symmetric problems. In the case that 5th order velocity profile is used to reduce the effects of the pressure wave generated by the train starting abruptly, the effect of the initial distance between the train and the tunnel were examined. The impulsive start gives undesired pressure disturbances to the flow field including inside the tunnel. But 5th order velocity profile with initial distance more than 80 m gives much stable pressure variance in time, and pressure distribution inside the tunnel in space. The distance to the train reaches the highest running velocity from the start should be more than 80 m when the train speed is 350 km/h.

A Study of Catalyst Temperature Rise Effect by using UEGI(Unburned Exhaust Gas Ignition) Technology during Cold-Start (냉시동시 미연 배기가스 점화 기술을 이용한 촉매 온도 상승 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Most vehicle's exhaust emissions come from the cold transient period of the FTP-75 test. In this study, UEGI technology was developed to help close-coupled catalytic converter (CCC) reach light-off temperature within a few seconds after cold-start. In the UEGI system, unburned exhaust mixture is ignited by four glow plugs installed upstream of the catalyst. Experimental results showed that the temperature of CCC rises faster with the UEGI technology, and the CCC reaches light-off temperature earlier. Under the conditions tested, the light-off time of the baseline case was 62 seconds and that of the UEGI case was 33 seconds.
