The spray characteristics of a direct injection multi-hole diesel nozzle having the 2-spring nozzle holder were investigated by using the image processing system and a PDPA(phase Bowler particle analyzer) system. The spray tip penetration, the spray angle, and the droplet diameter and velocity with the variation of the pump speed, injection quantity were measured. From, the experiments, we know that there are small droplets which are not to be detected with spray image around the leading edge of the spray. In order to represent the mean characteristics of the intermittent spray very well, it is very important to set the time windows accurately. From the measurements along the axis of the spray, close to the nozzle, the initially injected droplets are overtaken by droplets that follow them. And also there are the maximum axial mean velocity and SMD at the following part of the leading edge of the spray.
Spray drift of agricultural nozzles has become a big issue because it causes low precision targeting and environmental pollution. In order to reduce the spray drift, study spray characteristics of agricultural nozzles is virtually important. In this study, shadowgraph and Mie-scattering visualization techniques were used to study the macroscopic spray and atomization characteristics of an agricultural nozzle. PDPA was used to measure the atomization characteristics of spray. The injection pressure is set to 1 bar, 3 bar and 5 bar, which covers the working range of the nozzle. For the PDPA experiment, 75 points were measured in an area of 160 mm × 120 mm at 10 mm intervals directly below the nozzle to grasp the overall atomization characteristics of the spray. It was found that the spray width and sheet width showed a linear correlation. As the injection pressure increased, the sheet expansion in the 0-degree direction and the sheet swing in the 90-degree direction jointly promoted the breakup of the sheet. In addition, the area close to the central axis had a large droplet velocity, and since a large droplet velocity promoted atomization of spray, the area close to the central axis had a smaller spray droplet diameter than the left and right regions.

Numerical simulations and experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of fuel injection nozzles on the combustion and NOx formation processes in a medium-speed marine diesel engine. Spray visualization experiment was performed in the constant-volume high-pressure chamber to verify the numerical results on the spray characteristics such as spray angle and spray tip penetration. Time-resolved spray behaviors were captured by high-speed digital camera and analyzed to extract the information on the spray parameters. Spray and combustion phenomena were examined numerically using FIRE code. Wave breakup and Zeldovich models were adopted to describe the atomization characteristics and NOx formation processes. Numerical results were verified with experimental data such as cylinder pressure, heat release rate and NOx emission. Finally, the effects of fuel injection nozzles on the engine performance were investigated numerically to find the optimum nozzle parameters such as fuel injection angle, nozzle hole diameter and number of nozzle holes. From this study, the optimum fuel injection nozzle (nozzle hole diameter, 0.32 mm, number of nozzle holes, 8 and fuel injection angle, $148^{\circ}$) was selected to reduce both the fuel consumption and NOx emission. The reason for this selection could be explained from the highest fuel-air mixing in the early phase of injection due to the longest spray tip penetration and the highest heat release rate after $19^{\circ}$ ATDC due to the increased injection duration.
This study describes the external spray characteristics of deflector nozzle such as the breakup procedures of liquid sheet, spray angle, discharge coefficient and bubble behaviors of spray and SMD at deflector nozzle. In order to visualize the spray behaviors shadow graphy technique were used. According to the increase of injection pressure, development of the spray passes through the dribbling, distoted jet, closed bubble due to the contraction by surface tension forces, the bubble opens into hollow tulip shape, and the curved surface straightened to form a conical sheet like as the simplex swirl atomizer. Spray cone angle was nearly 90 deg. Variations of SMD were examined in order to describe the dependency of SMD on the injection pressure and orifice diameter. The shape of deflector and oriffice diameter had an effect on the discharge coefficient.
Atomized liquid jets from the washing nozzle which configured with recirculation chamber for cleaning hot-zone area are accelerated and impinged on the head lamp surface. Cleaning efficiency of head lamp can be increased with injecting washing fluids into the hot-zone area. Experimental and numerical studies with various design parameters were executed to reveal the relations between internal geometry and internal flow in the washing nozzle. Spray structures were fitted with each of the head lamp surfaces and spray nozzles were optimized to the spray pattern. The recirculation chamber induces a recirculation flow and can be decreased the pressures perturbation inside the chamber. Orifice determines the mass flow rate. When the diameter of orifice is excessively large, it showed an unstable spray pattern. As a nozzle exit angle increases, density distributions are separated with two section. Also, as a protrusion length of nozzle exit increases, spray patterns are spread into a large area and density distributions showed unstable trend.
The nozzle geometry and up-stream inject ion condition affect the characteristics of flow inside the nozzle. such as turbulence and cavitation bubbles. Flow details in fuel nozzle orifice with sudden contraction of cross sectional area have been investigated both experimentally and numerically. The measurements of velocities of internal flow in a scaled-up nozzle with different length to diameter rat io(L/d) were made by laser Doppler velocimetry in order to clarify the effect of internal flow on the characteristics of fuel spray. Mean and fluctuating velocities and discharge coefficients were obtained at various Reynolds numbers. The turbulent intensity and turbulence kinetic energy in a sharp inlet nozzle were higher than that in a round inlet nozzle. Calculations were also performed for the same nozzles as scaled-up experimental nozzles using the SIMPLE algorithm. External spray behavior under different nozzle geometry and up-stream flow conditions using Doppler technique and visualization technique were also observed.

The purpose of this study is to compare the injection and spray characteristics of single-hole GDI injectors using injection rate and mie-scattering spray images. Five types of single-hole injectors with different nozzle hole diameters were used, and the spray rate, spray tip penetration, spray area, and spray width were analyzed. As a result, the diameter of the nozzle hole had a direct effect on the injection and spray characteristics. It was confirmed that the larger the diameter of the nozzle hole, the higher the injection quantity, the spray tip penetration, the spray area, and the spray width. In addition, it was confirmed that the near-field spray, which has little influence of ambient air, has a great correlation with the injection rate.
The structure of sprays from a simplex type pilot nozzle atomizer is studied experimentally by measuring velocities, Sauter mean diameter, and number density. Interaction of the spray with gas-phase flow field generated from a 1 MW range industrial gas turbine combustor adopt ing a counter-swirler is investigated. Various spray behaviors are reported. Especially interest ing characteristics are the tangential motion of the spray and of the spray with swirl interaction. It shows a Rankine combined vortex type of velocity characteristics, having linear velocity profile inside the inner core whole small particles exist and rapidly decreasing velocity profiles outside. Interacting spray has relatively uniform number density profiles compared to the nozzle spray itself.

The paper presents the method and apparatus for conformal photoresist spray coating on the 3D structured substrate. The system consists of a high-temperature-rotational chuck, ultrasonic spray nozzle module, angle control module and nozzle moving module. The coating uniformity is acquired by controlling the moving speed of the ultrasonic spray nozzle across the substrate which is rotated constantly. To coat the photoresist conformally the spray angle of the nozzle and the temperature of the substrate are controlled during spray coating. The rotational chuck can be heated up by hot air or $N_2$. The photoresist (AZ1512) has been coated on the 3D structured wafer by spray coating system and the characteristics have been evaluated.
Spray characteristics of charge injected 2-fluid nozzle for non-conducting liquid have been studied. Spray current, specific charge and SMD of diesel have been measured. Spray current and specific charge are proportional to applied voltage. Air flow did not effect on spray current and specific charge. SMD decreases as air flow rate increases and decreases as applied voltage increases additionally. Spray angle increases as applied voltage increases. Fine droplets are obtained by charge injected 2-fluid nozzle without charge loss.
