  • Concrete poles(CP) are popular supports for distribution lines. Various types of grounding electrode, such as copper-clad rods, have been used to maintain CP's ground resistance under the required value. The buried part of CP can also have structural grounding effect because of its iron reinforcing rods inside CPs. In this paper, we measured the total ground current injected into CP ground while measuring the ground current splitting to the metal electrode as well as the total injecting current. By this, it was able to measure the ground current splitting to CP structure. Based on the measured results, interrelationship between ground resistance of metal electrodes and current split factor to CP structure was analyzed.

  • Model calculations for small molecules Li2, F2, LiF and BF have been performed at the Dirac-Fock level of theory using Dirac-Coulomb and Dirac-Coulomb-Magnetic Hamiltonians with various basis sets. In order to understand what may happen when the relativity becomes significant, the value of c, speed of light, is varied from the true value of 137.036 a.u. to 105 (nonrelativistic case) and also to 50 and 20 a.u. (exaggerated relativistic cases). Qualitative trends are discussed with special emphasis on the effect of the magnetic part of the Breit interaction term. The known relativistic effects on bonding such as the bond length contraction or expansion are demonstrated in this model study. Total energy, $\pi-orbital$ splitting, bond length, bond dissociation energy and dipole moment are calculated, and shown to be modified in a uniform direction by the effect of the magnetic term. Inclusion of the magnetic term raises the total energy, increases the bond length, reduces the $\pi-orbital$ splitting, increases the bond dissociation energy, and mitigates the changes in dipole moment caused by the Dirac term.

  • A blisk with rotor shroud is usually adopted in LRE turbine to maximize its performance. However it experiences severe thermal load and resulting damage during engine stating and stop. Shroud splitting is devised to relieve thermal stress on the turbine rotor. Structural analysis confirmed the reduction of plastic strain at the blade hub and tip. However, split gap at the rotor shroud entails additional tip leakage and results performance degradation. In order to assess the effect of shroud split on the turbine performance, tests have been performed for various settings of shroud split. For the maximum number of shroud splitting, measured efficiency reduction ratio was 2.65% to the value of original shape rotor.

  • Polypropylene (PP) fibers for making fabric which is used for packing cement have a high strength and high tear resistance. Due to these excellent properties the present study investigates the effect of PP fibers on the mechanical strength of concrete. Mechanical strength parameters such as compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength are evaluated. Structural integrity of concrete using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) was also studied. Concrete containing PP fibers in percentage of 0%, 0.15%, 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75% was developed with a characteristic compressive strength of 25 MPa. Concrete cubes, cylinder and prismatic specimens were cast and tested. It was found that the UPV values recorded for all specimens were of the similar order. Test results indicated the used of PP fibers can significantly improve the flexural and splitting tensile strengths of concrete materials whereas it resulted a decreased in compressive strength. The relative increase in split tensile and flexural strength was optimum at a fiber dosage of 0.5% and a mild decreased were observed in 28 days compressive strength. The findings in this paper suggested that PP fibers deriving from these waste cement bags are a feasible fiber option for fiber-reinforced concrete productions.

  • In most of the structural members with initial cracks, the strength tends to decrease as the member size increases. This phenomenon is known as size effect. Among the structural materials of glass, metal or concrete, etc., concrete represents the size effect even without initial crack. According to the previous size effect law, the concrete member of very large size can resist little stress. Actually, however, even the large size member can resist some stress if there is no initial notch. This means that the fracture mechanism of very small or very large size member follows strength criterion, but the medium size member follows non-linear fracture mechanics (NLFM). In this study, the empirical models which are derived based on nonlinear fracture mechanics are proposed according to the regression analysis with the existing test data of large size specimens for uni-axial compression test, splitting tensile test and shear test of reinforced concrete beams.

  • This paper presents an analytical model for evaluation of Tension Stiffening Effect by actual Bond-Slip relationships between the reinforcement and the surrounding concrete. The presence of longitudinal splitting cracks was found to significantly after the tension stiffening. The model is applied to the longitudinal splittings cracks and derived to Tension stiffening model. The predicted values are shown to be in good agreement with the experimentally measured data.

  • In this paper, we propose impr oved binary tree vector quantization based on spatial sensitivity which is one of the human visual properties. We combine the weights based on spatial masking effect according to changes of three primary colors in blocks of images with the process of splitting nodes using eigenvector in binary tree vector quantization. The test results show that the proposed method generates the quantized images with fine color and performs better than the conventional method in terms of clustering the similar regions. Also the proposed method can get the better result in subjective qualify test and PSNR.

  • Characteristics of air-jet textured yarns are determined by linear density, strength, and instability together with structural properties. Such characteristics are affected by various processing parameters and supply yam properties. In this Paper, specially, we have studied on the effect of air jet texturing conditions not only on texturing characteristics but also on splitting behavior using split-type ultrafine P/N filaments and their draw textured yarns as raw materials. • A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, ZnGa₂Se₄mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were 610℃ and 450℃, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect by von der Pauw method are 9.63×10/sup 17/㎤ and 296 ㎠/V·s at 293 K, respectively. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c-axis of the ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit splitting △so and the crystal field splitting Δcr were 251.9meV and 183.2 meV at 10 K, respectively. From the photoluminescence measurement on th ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin film, we observed free excition (Ex) existing only high quality crystal and neutral bound exiciton (A°, X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM) and binding energy of neutral acceptor bound excition were 11 meV and 24.4 meV, respectivity. By Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 122 meV.
