  • In order to solve the undetected probability of multiple targets in ultra-wideband (UWB) through-the-wall radar imaging (TWRI), a time-delay and amplitude modified back projection (BP) algorithm is proposed. The refraction point is found by Fermat's principle in the presence of a wall, and the time-delay is correctly compensated. On this basis, transmission loss of the electromagnetic wave, the absorption loss of the refraction wave, and the diffusion loss of the spherical wave are analyzed in detail. Amplitude compensation is deduced and tested on a model with a single-layer wall. The simulating results by finite difference time domain (FDTD) show that it is effective in increasing the scattering intensity of the targets behind the wall. Compensation for the diffusion loss in the spherical wave also plays a main role. Additionally, the two-layer wall model is simulated. Then, the calculating time and the imaging quality are compared between a single-layer wall model and a two-layer wall model. The results illustrate the performance of the time-delay and amplitude-modified BP algorithm with multiple targets and multiple-layer walls of UWB TWRI.

  • This paper proposes a sensing system of the Halbach array permanent magnet spherical motor(PMSM). The rotor position can be obtained by solving three rotation angles, which revolves around 3 reference axes of the stator. With the development of 3-D hall sensor, the position identification problem of the Halbach array PMSM based on rotor magnetic field is studied in this paper. A nonlinear and serious coupling relationship between the rotation angles and the measured magnetic flux density is established on the basis of the rotation transformation theory and the magnetic field model. In order to get rid of the influence on position detection caused by the harmonics of rotor magnetic field and the stator coil magnetic field, a sensor location combination scheme is proposed. In order to solve the nonlinear equation fast and accurately, a new position solution algorithm which combines the merits of gradient projection and particle swarm optimization(PSO) is presented. Then the rotation angles are obtained and the rotor position is identified. The validity of the sensing system is verified through the simulation.

  • The determination of three dimensional parameters (e.g., radial speed, angular width, source location) of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) is very important for space weather forecast. To estimate these parameters, several cone models based on a flat cone or a shallow ice-cream cone with spherical front have been suggested. In this study, we investigate which cone model is proper for halo CME morphology using 33 CMEs which are identified as halo CMEs by one spacecraft (SOHO or STEREO-A or B) and as limb CMEs by the other ones. From geometrical parameters of these CMEs such as their front curvature, we find that near full ice-cream cone CMEs (28 events) are dominant over shallow ice-cream cone CMEs (5 events). So we develop a new full ice-cream cone model by assuming that a full ice-cream cone consists of many flat cones with different heights and angular widths. This model is carried out by the following steps: (1) construct a cone for given height and angular width, (2) project the cone onto the sky plane, (3) select points comprising the outer boundary, (4) minimize the difference between the estimated projection points with the observed ones. We apply this model to several halo CMEs and compare the results with those from other methods such as a Graduated Cylindrical Shell model and a geometrical triangulation method.

To estimate these parameters, several cone models based on a flat cone or a shallow ice-cream cone with spherical front have been suggested. In this study, we investigate which cone model is proper for halo CME morphology using 26 CMEs which are identified as halo CMEs by one spacecraft (SOHO or STEREO-A or B) and as limb CMEs by the other ones. From geometrical parameters of these CMEs such as their front curvature, we find that near full ice-cream cone CMEs are dominant over shallow ice-cream cone CMEs. We apply this model to 12 SOHO halo CMEs and compare the results with those from other stereoscopic methods (a geometrical triangulation method and a Graduated Cylindrical Shell model) based on multi-spacecraft data.

  • In this paper, we propose a hardware design for correction of barrel distortion using the nearest coordinates in the corrected image. Because it applies the nearest distance on corrected image rather than adjacent distance on distorted image, the picture quality is improved by the image whole area, solve the staircase phenomenon in the exterior area. But, because of additional arithmetic operation using design of bilinear interpolation, required arithmetic operation is increased. Look up table(LUT) structure is proposed in order to solve this, coordinate rotation digital computer(CORDIC) algorithm is applied. The results of the synthesis using Design compiler, the design of implementing all processes of the interpolation method with the hardware is higher than the previous design about the throughput, In case of the rear camera, the design of using LUT and hardware together can reduce the size than the design of implementing all processes with the hardware.
