Study on examination of accuracy of natural environment assessment of satellite data using vegetation index and plant energy

  • The satellite remote sensing data is good in order to grasp the wide natural environment. The purpose of study is that it examines spectral reflection characteristic and vegetation index by the utilization of the plant energy ( chlorophyll ) for examining the reliability of satellite data and grasps the transition of the natural environment using the result. According to result of analysis, there were NDVI and mutual relationship on chlorophyll, and luminance compensation of NDVI was effective for all area. In vegetation transition, there were no luminance compensation and relation, and there was a decrease of vegetation in area in south and north. The reason was a result by the artificial and natural effect. This analysis is an effective method in order to confirm the change of specific vegetation.

New Compensation Method for Temperature Sensitivity of Fiber Brags Grating Using Bi-metal

  • A new method for temperature compensation of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) using hi-metal is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Bi-metal bends toward the metal of low temperature expansion coefficient as the temperature increases, and this property is utilized to cancel the thermo-optic effect of the fiber. The optimum thickness of the high coefficient metal was empirically found by the trial-and-error method. The temperature sensitivities were 8.1 pm/$^{\circ}C$ and -0.018 pm/$^{\circ}C$ for the uncompensated and compensated FBGs, respectively, which indicates a reduction to a mere 0.22 % of the original sensitivity. No appreciable change in the spectral shape was observed. The packaging technique described in this paper is simple and compact, and it can be used for FBGs in WDM and DWDM communication systems that have stringent requirements on the temperature stability of the components.

Efficient Signal Feature Detection method using Spectral Correlation Function in the Fading channel

  • The cognitive radio communication is taking the attentions because the development of the technique came to be possible to analyze wireless signals. In the IEEE 802.22 WRAN Systems[1], how to detect a spectrum and signals is continuously studied. In this paper, we propose the efficient signal detection method using SCF (Spectral Correlation Function). It is easy to detect the signal feature when we are using the SCF. Because most modulated signals have the cyclo-stationarity which is unique for each signal. But the fading channel effected serious influence even though it detects the feature of the signal. We applied LMS(Least Mean Square) filter for the compensation of the signal which is effected the serious influence in the fading channel. And we analyze some signal patterns through the SCF. And we show the unique signal feature of each signal through the SCF method. It is robust for low SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) environment and we can distinguish it in the fading channel using LMS Filter.

  • A finite-dimensional approximation technique is developed for a class of spectral systems with input and output operators which are unbounded. A corresponding bounding technique on the frequency-response error is also established for control system design. Our goal is to construct an uncertainty model including a nominal plant and its error bounds so that the results from robust linear control theory can be applied to guarantee a closed loop control performance. We demonstrate by numerical example that these techniques are applicable, with a modest computational burden, to a wide class of distributed parameter system plants.

두 파장 백색광 간섭계를 이용한 금속물질의 단차 측정 (Self-compensation of the phase change upon reflection in two-wavelength white light interferometry for step height measurement)

  • 본 논문에서는 두 파장 백색광 간섭법을 이용하여 금속물질을 단차 측정 시 발생하는 오차를 최소화하는 새로운 자가 보정법을 제안한다. 금속 물질의 파장에 대한 위상 변화율은 백색광 간섭무늬의 가시도 정점에 오차로 작용하는데, 자가 보정법은 위상 변화율을 일차 직선으로 가정하고 이를 추출하여 단차 값에 보상한다. 본 자가 보정법은 두 파장 백색광 간섭무늬가 갖는 두 개의 위상 정점과 한 개의 가시도 정점으로부터 위상 변화율 오차를 추출하므로, 별도의 실험이 필요하지 않다. 실험을 통하여 두 개의 금속 물질로 이루어진 단차를 $\pm2nm$ 이내의 오차로 측정함을 보인다.

  • With the study for identifying the transmission characteristics of vibration and noise generated by operating engine system of a vehicle, recently many engineers have studied actively the reduction of vibration and noise inducing uncomfortableness to the passenger. In this study, output noise was analyzed by multi-dimensional spectral analysis and vector synthesis method. The multi-dimensional analysis method is very effective in case of identification of primary source, but this method has little effect on suggestion for interior noised reduction. For compensation of this, vector synthesis method was used to obtain effective method for interior noise reduction, after identifying primary source for output noise. In this paper, partial coherence function of each input was calculated to know which input was most coherent to output noise, then with simulation of changes for input magnitude and phase by vector synthesis diagram, the trends of synthesized output vector was obtained. As a result, the change of synthesized output vector could be estimated.

  • 장거리 광전송 시스템에서 그룹 속도 분산과 비선형 현상에 의한 왜곡을 보상할 수 있는 분산 제어 (DM; dispersion management)와 광 위상 공액 기술이 결합된 전송 링크의 최적 설계를 위한 성능 분석을 수행하였다. 즉 전체 전송 링크의 중간에 위치한 광위상 공액기 (OPC; optical phase conjugator) 양쪽의 전송 구획에서의 잉여 분산의 상호 관계가 최적 전체 잉여 분산 (NRD; net residual dispersion)에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 시뮬레이션 결과 전반 전송 구획에서의 잉여 분산과 후반 전송 구획에서의 잉여 분산의 차이를 10 ps/nm로 하여 전체 전송 링크의 NRD를 10 ps/nm로 설정하여야 가장 우수한 보상이 이루어진다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 장거리 다채널 광 전송 시스템에서 MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) 기술의 유용성을 확장하기 위하여 1,000 km의 비영 분산 천이 광섬유로 구성된 $16{\times}40$ Gbps WDM 시스템에서 광 위상 공액기 (OPC ; Optical Phase Conjugator)의 최적 위치와 광섬유 구간의 최적 분산 계수를 도출한다. 유도된 이들 최적 파라미터들을 WDM 시스템에 적용하면 전통적인 MSSI 기술이 적용된 WDM 시스템에 비해 모든 채널의 보상 정도를 매우 크게 개선할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 제안된 최적 파라미터들은 OPC를 다채널 WDM에 적용하는데 있어 형성하지 못하면 심각한 문제를 발생시키는 OPC에 대해 광 전력과 국부 분산량을 대칭화시키는 방법을 대체할 것으로 기대된다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법을 실제 WDM 시스템에 적용함으로써 유연한 시스템 설계가 가능할 것이다.

에지 영역을 보상한 원격 센싱된 인공위성 화상의 부호화 (Coding of Remotely Sensed Satellite Image with Edge Region Compensation)

  • 본 논문에서는 에지 영역을 보상한 원격 센싱된 인공위성 화상의 부호화 기법을 제안하였다. 이 기법에서는 인공위성 화상데이타의 분광적 반사 특성에 따라 각 화소벡터를 분류한 후, 각 분류영역에 대하여 대역내 및 대역간 중복성을 각간 제거하기 위하여 분류영역별 대역내 벡터양자화 및 분류영역별 대역간 예측을 행한다. 에지영역의 경우에 주변블럭의 영역정보 및 양자화된 기준대역의 화소값을 이용하여 에지영역을 보상한다. 그후, 대역간 중복성을 효과적으로 제거하기 위하여 보상된 영역정보를 이용하여 분류영역별 대역간 예측을 행한다. 실제 LANDSAT-TM 인공위성 화상데이타에 대한 실험을 통하여 제안한 기법의 부호화 효율이 기존의 기법에 비하여 우수함을 확인하였다.

Color Correction in Portable-type Urine Analyzer

  • Color correction methods of chromaticity coordinates using Color Matching Function (CMF) were studied to develop a device-independent portable-type urine analyzer. The reflection spectra were measured for the degrees of 10 test items of the urine reagent strip (urine strip) to develop a portable-type urine analyzer. A computer simulation was performed to quantitatively distinguish the color reactions of the urine system, by using the spectral power distribution of Light Emitting Diode(LED), the reflection of a urine strip, and spectral sensitivity of a photodiode. To develop a device-independent system, chromaticity coordinates were modified to reduce the color deviations in the urine strip, by using the temperature compensation of LED and the color transformation by CMF. The experimental values obtained by developed urine system exhibited the accuracy above 95% for all color samples.
