Gonad index, spermatogenesis and the reproductive cycle of Meretrix petechialis were investigated by cytological, histological observations. Monthly changes in the gonad index coincides the gonadal development. The morphology of the spermatozoon had a primitive type and is similar to that of other bivalves having a short mid-piece with five to six mitochondria surrounding the centrioles. The morphology of the sperm nucleus type and the acrosome shape of this species were cylindrical type and cap-like shape, respectively. The spermatozoon was approximately 40-45 ${\mu}m$ in length including the sperm nucleus length (about 1.50 ${\mu}m$), acrosome length (0.60 ${\mu}m$) and tail flagellum. The axoneme of the tail flagellum consisted of nine pairs of microtubules at the periphery and a pair at the center. The axoneme of the sperm tail showed 9 + 2 microtubular arrangement. The spawning period was from June to September and the main spawning occurred from July to August when seawater temperatures were higher than $20^{\circ}C$. The reproductive cycle of this species could be categorized into five successive stages: early active stage (February to March), late active stage (February to May), ripe stage (April to July), partially spawned stage (June to September), and spent/inactive stage (September to February).
Oogenesis and the reproductive cycle in female Ruditapes philippinarum were investigated by cytological and histological observations. R. philippinarum is dioecious and oviparous. During vitellogenesis, the Golgi complex, glycogen particles and mitochondria were involved in the formation of lipid droplets and lipid granules in the cytoplasm of the early vitellogenic oocyte. In the late vitellogenic oocyte, cortical granules, the endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria were involved in the formation of proteid yolk granules in the cytoplasm. At this time, exogenous lipid granular substance and glycogen particles in the germinal epithelium passed into the oocyte through the microvilli of the vitelline envelope. The spawning period was once a year between early June and early October, and the main spawning occurred between July and August when seawater temperature was approximately $20^{\circ}C$. The reproductive cycle of this species can be categorized into five successive stages: early active stage (January to March), late active stage (February to May), ripe stage (April to August), partially spawned stage (May to October), and spent/inactive stage (August to February). Percentages of female clams at frst sexual maturity of 15.1-20.0 mm in shell length were 52.6% (50% of the rate of group maturity was 17.83 mm in length), and 100% for the clams > 25.1 mm.

The reproductive biology of the Washington clam Saxidomus purpuratus, from Yeosu, Korea was investigated based on 699 individuals collected from January to December 2022. The sex ratio of this species was not significantly different from a 1:1 (male:female) sex ratio (P>0.05). Monthly changes in gonadosomatic index were analyzed to estimate the spawning season. The reproductive cycle of this species can be divided into the following stages: active (Jan.-Mar.), ripe (Mar.-Nov.), spent (Apr.-Dec.), and degenerative (Jun.-Dec.) stages. The spawning period ranged from March to December with the main periods being from April to June and from September to November. The shell length at 50% female group maturity (SL50) was estimated to be 60.2 mm.
Age composition and reproductive period o the shad, Konosirus punctatus, in Cheonsu Bay were determined though analysis of sizi, ane and maturity of fish. Sampses were collected with trap in the bay mouth from May, 1981 to December, 1982. Shads start entering the bay for feeding and spawning in spring when water temperature exceeds 8$^{\circ}C$. They stay in inner part of the bay in summer nad move out to sea in autumn before water trmperature decreasea to 8$^{\circ}C$. Fish grows very rapidly during first summer after birth. Mean lengthes of 1-4 year old fishes were 12.2cm, 15.8cm, 17.6cm and 20.9cm, respectively. The largest and oldrst fish pbserved was 22.0cm long with age 4. Shads of Cheonsu Bay reach maturity at 2 years old at the size greater then 14cm. Data on size and age at first maturityindicate thzt maturity of shad depends on size and not on age. Spawning occurs from late April to late May when water temperature is between 8$^{\circ}C$ and 15$^{\circ}C$.
The matured female and male of A. signifer differed in external morphology and body color. There were significant differences in PAD, PAB, PMP and PQR between matured female and male. Green color was very widely distributed in whole as nuptial color, that is similar to green and cyan color in the body part, yellow color in the ventral part and red and yellow color in the tail part. The nuptial organ of A. signifer was formed in a cluster on the horny substance of both sides above the mouth. There were 25~30 nuptial organs in a side. The nuptial organs disappeared with crumbling down from middle part of nuptial organ after spawning period. The nuptial organs disappeared mostly in September as non spawning period and a part of the nuptial organs remained as a vestige in the edges of both sides.
This study was conducted from 2017 to 2018 to determine habitat aspects of Acheilognathus signifier, an endangered species reintroduced (2010~2012) to Heukcheon Stream, a tributary of the Hangang River, Korea. A total of 329 individuals were collected in 2017 (two surveys) and 723 individuals were collected in 2018 (four surveys) at about 5 km habitat area, including the discharge station. A. signifier's habitat was about 0.4 to 1.2 meters deep in slow water flow upstream of the discharge area. It was a place with many boulders and cobbles. The spawning period was estimated from April to June in terms of spawning behavior and collected juvenile size. Sex ratio of females (438) and males (412) was 1 : 0.94. Estimated age of A. signifier based on their total length distribution during the spawning period (April) indicated that 1-, 2-, 3-year old groups and more than 4-year-old group were 32~43 mm, 50~61 mm, 62~75 mm, and 76~89 mm, respectively. Age-specific composition costs differed depending on the timing of the collection. They were relatively high in the order of first-year (juvenile)>third-year> and fourth-year or higher, showing a stable age structure. Thus, A. signifier reintroduced to Heukcheon Stream has successfully settled down and formed a stable population, showing a tendency to proliferate.
This study surveyed the ecological characteristics of Ladislabia taczanowskii at Songcheon Stream from March to November 2019. The species inhabited upstream, where the riverbed structure was mostly covered with boulders and cobbles. The water depth was 31-148 cm, and the stream velocity was fast at 0.94±0.23 (0.51-1.39) m/sec. The gender ratio of females to males was 1 : 0.89. The age according to the total length frequency distribution indicated that the group with 38-70 mm below in total length was one year old, the group with 70-100 mm was two years old, the group with 100-120 mm was three years old, and the group over 120-128 mm was over four years old. The total length of sexually mature fishes was 70 mm for females and 75 mm or more for males. The spawning season was from May to August, and the water temperature was 15.5-20.1℃ during the period. The prosperous spawning season was from June to July, and the water temperature was 15.8-17.2℃ during the period. The spawning ground was where the riffle began in the pool, and its bottom was formed of sand and gravel. The width was about 150 cm, and the water depth was 20 to 50 cm. The average number of eggs in the ovaries was 821 (401-1,314) per matured female, and the matured eggs were yellowish and spherical with a mean diameter of 1.62±0.02 (1.43-2.01) mm. The live foods of L. taczanowskii Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, Ephemeroptera, and Diptera. The feeding habit of L. taczanowskii is omnivorous, but more than 90% of the stomach content was attached algae.
Life history of the endangered endemic species, Rhynchocypris semotilus, was investigated to obtain baseline data for its ecological characteristics in Songhyeoncheon, Hyeonnae-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea from April to October, 2022. A total of 10 families and 18 species of fishes were collected from 4 survey stations, and R. semotilus was a subdominant species in the survey period (seven times). The main habitat of R. semotilus was the middle-upper stream of rock and boulder bottoms with aquatic plants and slow rapids and pools. The age groups for R. semotilus estimated by the frequency distribution of total length in spawning season (May) indicated the 4~12 mm is 0-year old, 32~49 mm is 1-year old, the 50~65 mm group is 2-years old, the 66~91 mm is 3-years old, and the 92~116 mm is more than 4-years old, and showed rapid growth from May to September. Total length range of female and male were the relatively similar, and sex ratio (♂/♀) was 0.78. The spawning period is from May to July (water temperature is 17 to 21℃), and gonad was developed more than three years old (more than TL 66 mm). In May, the gonadosomatic index (GSI) was 10.6±2.99% for females and 8.2±2.34% for males, fecundity was 6,830±1,943, and mature eggs size was 1.34±0.16 mm. Finally, life history characteristics of R. semotilus was discussed between the genus Rhynchocypris and Phoxinus species.
In order to investigate the compositional change of the lauan and pine sawdust media during the coltivation of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) chemical components of the two media and mushroom were analized periodically from spawning to ending. The results are summerized as follows: 1) The total yield of mushroom from the lauan sawdust media was 6.39 kg/$m^2$, and from the Pine saw-dust media 6.31 kg/$m^2$, 94% of which was produced from the first and second cropping period. 2) In both media ash content increased gradually, while organic matter content decreased as the cultivation progressed. Moisture content, which was about 79% at the time of spawning, decreased a little during the priod of mycelial propagation, after which no change was observed. 3) Total nitrogen content of the two media decreased gradually as the cultivation progressed, and total loss of insoluble nitrogen was greater than that of soluble nitrogen. Amino nitrogen content tended to increase continually. 4) In both media pentosan, $\alpha$-cellulose, lignin and C/N ratio decreased gradually, while the content of reduced sugar, trehalose and mannitol continued to increase. 5) In both media phosphorus, potassium, manganese and zinc decreased, and magnecium, calcium, iron and copper showed irregular changes. 6) CMC-saccharifying and liquefying activity gradually increased from after mycelial propagation to the second cropping, after which it decreased in both media. Xylanase activity rapidly and greatly increased during the second cropping period rather than the first period. At the start of the third cropping period the activity decreased slowly. Protease activity was highest after mycelial propagati, after which it gradually decreased. The pH of the two media decreased as the cultivation progressed. 7) In both media little change was observed in the content of the components of mushroom cropped from the first to the third period, but slight decrease was noticed at the fourth cropping.
The complex 2-dimensional movements of fish during an annual migration circuit were generated and simulated by a chaotic model of fish movement, which was expanded from a small-scale movement model. Fish migration was modeled as a neural network including stimuli, central decision-making, and output responses as variables. The input stimuli included physical stimuli (temperature, salinity, turbidity, flow), biotic factors (prey, predators, life cycle) and landmarks or navigational aids (sun, moon, weather), values of which were all normalized as ratios. By varying the amplitude and period coefficients of the klinokinesis index using chaotic equations, model results (i.e., spatial orientation patterns of migration through time) were represented as fish feeding, spawning, overwintering, and sheltering. Simulations using this model generated 2-dimesional annual movements of sea bream migration in the southern and western seas of the Korean Peninsula. This model of object-oriented and large-scale fish migration produced complicated and sensitive migratory movements by varying both the klinokinesis coefficients (e.g., the amplitude and period of the physiological month) and the angular variables within chaotic equations.
