This research managed to establish the space information on incidence factors of landslide targeting Bukhansan National Park and aimed at suggesting a basic data for disaster prevention of a landslide for the period to come in Bukhansan National Park through drawing up the map indicating vulnerability to a landslide and ecological risks by the use of overlay analysis and adding-up estimation matrix analysis methods. This research selected slope angle, slope aspect, slope length, drainage, vegetation index(NDVI) and land use as an assessment factor of a landslide and constructed the spatial database at a level of '$30m\times30m$' resolution. The analysis result was that there existed high vulnerability to a landslide almost all over Uidong and Dobong valleys. As for ecological risks, Dobong valley, Yongueocheon valley, Jeongneung valley and Pyeongchang valley were analyzed to be higher, so it is judged that the impact on a landslide risk should be also considered in time of establishing a management plan for these districts for the time to come.

In order to generate database, we need to obtain speedy and corret topographic information according to requisite purpose. Generally methods to an acquisition of topographic information are available by the use of maps, satellite images, stereo models of aerophoto and so forth. But we must choose a optimal method in consideration of area of object region, spatial solution of image, required accuracy and economic. Therefore, this study aims at providing the establish method of efficient topographic data base of small object region by means of spatial layer techniques of geo-spatial information system and using acquisition of geo-information and production method of base map with photoballoon system to obtain topographic information for reasonable plan and design of object region which select a zone preparation of a collective village with small region. As a result of this study, we decided an f-stop and a shutter speed of camera to obtain accurate stereo model and were able to obtain stereo photography and topography for small region by using of photoballoon system through accuracy analysis according to change flight height and air base speedly and economically. We can establish the data base useable to efficient plan and design as existence map with overlay plan drawing.

This study suggests a method for securing road safety by extracting the expected surface freezing section in planning a route using GIS. When planning a road construction in a mountainous area it is possible to confront surface freezing especially in the wintertime. In addition, it is required assessment data of surface freezing rates in the case of turnkey inspections of newly constructed or expanded roads. Consequently, an analysis method that can quantitatively estimate the surface freezing section and sunshine influence on each section of a road is needed. We can extract the expected surface freezing section which amounted to around 29km of the Donghae highway, with such techniques as three-dimensional modeling, sunshine simulation geographical database construction and spatial analysis using the overlay function of the GIS spatial analysis. This study can be used as a method to assess advance safety which has a direct influence on planning the blueprint that should be approved by a policy maker after efficiently understanding the expected surface freezing section in accordance with hill shade.

A simple and an improved methods for the assessment of flood damage were used in previous studies, and the Multi-Dimensional Flood Damage Assessment (MD-FDA) has been applied since 2004 in Korea. This study evaluated flood damage of dam downstream using considering MD-FDA method based on GIS data. Firstly, flood water level with FLDWAV (Flood Wave routing) model was input into cross section layer based on enforcement drainage algorithm, water depth grid data were created through spatial calculation with DEM data. The value of asset of building and agricultural land according to local government was evaluated using building layer from digital map and agricultural land map from landcover map. Also, itemized flood damage was calculated by unit price to building shape, evaluated value of housewares to urban type, unit cost to crop, tangible and inventory asset of company connected with building, agricultural land, flooding depth layer. Flood damage in rainfall frequency of 200 year showed 1.19, 1.30 and 1.96 times to flood damage in rainfall frequency of 100 year, 50 year and 10 year respectively by flood damage analysis.

The river management in Korea had been focused on line based 2D spatial data for the developing river management application system. In this study, the polygon based 3D spatial data such as aerial photos and satellite images were selected and used through comparing their resolution levels for the river environment management. In addition, 1m detailed DEM (Digital Elevation Model) was constructed to implement the real topography information around river so that the damage area scale could be extracted for flood disaster. Also, the social environment thematic maps such as a cadastral map or land cover map could be used to verify the real damage area scale by overlay analysis on aerial photos or satellite images. The construction of these spatial data makes possible to present the real surface information and extract quantitative analysis to support the scientific decision making for establishing the river management policy. For the further study, the lidar surveying data will be considered as the very useful data by offering the real height information of riverbed as the depth of river so that flood simulation can give more reality.

In GIS-based Spatial Decision-making Support System (SDSS), the Boolean logic by conventional simple overlay method contains two problems. One is losing lots of information in analysis process, the other is unable to reflect of weighting values between evaluated items. Therefore, evaluation system as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) needs to improve these problems effectively. The purpose of this study is to provide the benefit of AHP method and GIS spatial analysis in site analysis for crop cultivation. First, the weighting value of AHP for topography, distribution grade of water, property of soil and slope items are evaluated throughout survey to experts of soil, crop and agricultural management fields. On the basis of these weighting value of AHP by items, site suitability analysis for black raspberry cultivation is performed. To estimate the benefit of AHP method, the current cultivating map of black raspberry is constructed in Ssangchi-myeon district. In comparison with site analysis of Boolean logic, site analysis of AHP method shows more realistic.
There are serious damage of people and properties every year due to landslides that are occurred by heavy rain. Because these phenomena repeat and the heavy rain is not an atmospheric anomaly, the counter plan becomes necessary. The study area, Ulsan, is one of the seven metropolitan, and largest cities of Korea and has many large facilities such as petrochemical complex and factories of automobile and shipbuilding. So it is necessary assess the landslide hazard potential. In the study. the three steps of landslide hazard assessment techniques such as susceptibility, possibility, and risk were performed to the study area using GIS. For the analyses, the topographic, geologic, soil, forest, meteorological, and population and facility spatial database were constructed. Landslide susceptibility representing how susceptible to a given area was assessed by overlay of the slope, aspect, curvature of topography from the topographic DB, type, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil from the soil DB, lype age, diameter and density from forest DB and land use. Then landslide possibility representing how possible to landslide was assessed by overlay of the susceptibility and rainfall frequency map, Finally, landslide risk representing how dangerous to people and facility was assessed by overlay of the possibil. ity and the population and facility density maps The assessment results can be used to urban and land use plan for landslide hazard prevention.
Pastry overlay network is one of structured P2Ps using DHT(Distributed Hash Table). To reduce the number of messages among nodes, Rosary and LAR have been proposed by exploiting spatial locality and caching, respectively, in the Pastry. Rosary consists of Inter-Pastry and Intra-Pastry. A root node is assigned as a representative in each Intra-Pastry and it has the responsibility of Inter-Pastry and Intra-Pastry routing. Therefore, Rosary has several disadvantages; 1) low fault tolerance in case of root node failure 2) routing hop count increases because of the use of root nodes compared to the existing structured P2Ps, and 3) the communication load is concentrated in some specific areas. LAR has inefficient problems in that caching is not distributed among nodes in Intra-Pastry and caching is used by only nodes in the Intra-Pastry. In this paper, we propose an improved Pastry called Doughnut to overcome the above problems of Rosary and LAR. By dividing nodes with the local characteristics, the Doughnut consists of Inter-Pastry and Intra-Pastry, and all nodes have the responsibility of Inter-Pastry and Intra-Pastry routing. This results in that all nodes perform the role of the existing root node. This solves the problems of the reducing of fault-tolerance, the increasing of routing hop count, and the not-distributed communication load. Also Doughnut can use cache effectively because it guarantees the even cache distribution in local(Intra-Pastry) and the cache contents in local can be used in the other local. The proposed algorithm is implemented using simulator and the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to the existing method.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the service area of emergency medical centers using GIS-based spatial analysis methods in Seoul, focusing on the behaviour of patients on the choosing of emergency centers. For this analysis, six emergency centers were selected to collect data for the information on the addresses of patients from September to November hi 2003. Analysis on the service area, which was carried out by measuring the distribution of patients in terms of distance from emergency medical centers, clearly reveals that the majority of patients was located within or adjacent districts at the emergency medical center. However, the size of the primary service area f3r six emergency medical centers was much different, implying that the decision to visit specific emergency medical center by patients was closely related to the size, perception, and preference of the emergency medical center. Based on the results of the spatial characteristics of emergency medical service area, this research tries to construct the surface map of the emergency medical service level supplied by 32 regional emergency medical centers located in Seoul. Considering the levels of infrastructure for emergency medical centers, the coverage for the degree of supply of emergency medical service by each emergency medical center was constructed in terms of a distance decaying in the distribution of patients from emergency medical center imposing different weights on distance bands. Spatial overlay utilizing map algebra function was performed in order to calculate total supply level of emergency service. The results clearly show that spatial inequality exists in the supply levels of the emergency medical service among local areas of Seoul.
It is noted that the paper mapping system for University Building Facility has many limitations in terms of data maintenance, real-time GIS data acquisition, and economic efficiency. The aim of this research was to evaluate an operational potential of an on site real-time mobile GIS technique to resolve the problem faced in the university. The idea is based upon the recent trends in the field of 'Telecommunication and Information Technology' that uses a PDA (personal Digital Assistants), wireless network computing, mobile computing, etc. A real time mobile GIS approach has been adopted, in which a PDA is linked to a wireless internet and field workers record data on the computer at the site and analyse data on site. While there should be a considerable number and variety of factors associated with real-time mobile GIS quality, this research focuses on three criteria that are identified as fundamental to customer requirements; (1) data quarry (2) spatial analysis (3) real-time GIS database building. 'Art--empirical study for a case study facility has been conducted to confirm the validity for the system. The system has been checked experimentally, enabled the field users to quarry the data required simply and execute spatial analysis (buffer, overlay etc.,) accommodating versatile alternatives on the site. Detailed visual maps can be generated over large areas quickly and easily. The PDA interface, in particular, were ideally suited for field users to interactively displaying positional information with attribute data. This system has shown to be quite convenient to maintaining a highly reliable database since it could playa crucial role in documenting at real-time basis temporal and spatial changes occurred in the facilities. It is anticipated that this research output will greatly serve to introduce the reliable and cost-effective facility mapping system in the university by overcoming serious constraints suffered from the past non-real time mobile GIS approach.
