  • The CDB(Constraint Database) model is a new paradigm for massive spatial data processing such as GIS(Geographic Information System). This paper will identify the limitation of the schema structure and query processing through prior spatial database research and suggest more efficient processing mechanism of constraint data model. We presented constraint model concept, presentation method, and the examples of query processing. Especially, we represented TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network) as a constraint data model which displays the height on a plane data and compared it with prior spatial data model. Finally, we identified that we were able to formalize spatial data in a simple and refined way through constraint data modeling.

  • Recently, component-based software has become main trends in designing and developing computer software products. This component-based software has advantage of the interoperability on distributed computing environment and the reusability of pre-developed components. Also, GIS is designed and implemented with this component-based methodology, called Open GIS Component. OGC(OpenGIS Consortium) have announced various implementation and design specification and topic in GIS. In GIS, Spatial analysis functions like network analysis, TIN analysis are very important function and basically, estimate system functionality and performance using this analysis methods. The simple feature geometry specification is announced by OGC to increase the full interoperability of various spatial data. This specification includes just geometry spatial data model. However, in GIS which manages spatial data, not only geometric data but also topological data and various analysis functions have been used. The performance of GIS depends on how this geometric and topological data is managed well and how various spatial analyses are executed efficiently. So it requires integrated spatial data model between geometry and topology and extended data model of topology for spatial analysis, in case network analysis and TIN analysis in open GIS component. In this paper, we design analysis component like network analysis component and TIN analysis component. To manage topological information for spatial analysis in open GIS component, we design extended data model of simple feature geometry for spatial analysis. In addition to, we design the overall system architecture of open GIS component contained this topology model for spatial analysis.

  • Recently, the concern of IT-in-Agriculture convergence technology that combines information technology and agriculture is increasing rapidly. Especially, the crop cultivation related prediction services by spatial data mining (SDM) can play an important role in reducing the damage of natural disaster and enhancing crop productivity. However, the data conversion and integration procedure to acquire the learning dataset of SDM for the prediction service need a lot of effort and time, because of their heterogeneity between distributed data. In addition, calculating spatial neighborhood relationships between spatial and non-spatial data necessitates requires the complicated calculation procedure for large dataset. In this paper, we suggest a SOA-based data integration framework that can effectively integrate distributed heterogeneous data by treating each data source as a service unit and support to find the optimal prediction service by improving productivity of learning dataset for SDM. In our experiment, we confirmed that our framework can be effectively applied to find the optimal prediction service for the frost damage area, by considering the case of peach crop cultivation in Icheon in Korea.

  • As multi-source spatial data fusion mainly deal with various types of spatial data which are specific representations of real world with unequal reliability and incomplete knowledge, proper data representation and uncertainty analysis become more important. In relation to this problem, this paper presents and applies an advanced data representation methodology for different types of spatial data such as categorical and continuous data. To account for the uncertainties of both categorical data and continuous data, fuzzy boundary representation and smoothed kernel density estimation within a fuzzy logic framework are adopted, respectively. To investigate the effects of those data representation on final fusion results, a case study for landslide hazard mapping was carried out on multi-source spatial data sets from Jangheung, Korea. The case study results obtained from the proposed schemes were compared with the results obtained by traditional crisp boundary representation and categorized continuous data representation methods. From the case study results, the proposed scheme showed improved prediction rates than traditional methods and different representation setting resulted in the variation of prediction rates.

  • Much research for spatial join has been extensively studied over the last decade. In this paper, we focus on the filtering step of candidate objects for spatial join operations on the input tables that none of the inputs is indexed. In this case, many algorithms has presented and showed excellent performance over most spatial data. However, if data sets of input table for the spatial join ale skewed, the join performance is dramatically degraded. Also, little research on solving the problem in the presence of skewed data has been attempted. Therefore, we propose a spatial hash strip join (SHSJ) algorithm that combines properties of the existing spatial hash join (SHJ) algorithm based on spatial partition for input data set's distribution and SSSJ algorithm. Finally, in order to show SHSJ the outperform in uniform/skew cases, we experiment SHSJ using the Tiger/line data sets and compare it with the SHJ algorithm.

  • According to the changes of the city's paradigm, the demand on u-City increases rapidly. u-City has been built at 54 areas in Korea (as of May 2009). One of the important determinants of success or failure in the increasing of u-City is how to provide u-Services. Most current u-Services are Sensor Network-based monitoring services to manage urban infrastructure. u-GIS is one of fundamental requirements to implement 'any time and any where' u-Service which covers the essential meaningful term "ubiquitous". Hence, in this paper, we 1) describe the definition of the spatial awareness, 2) discuss how to converge (Spatial Embedding) among different spatial data : topographic spatial data, sensor spatial data, and more, 3) bring forth an advanced form of u-Service, 4) analyze the state-of-the-art u-GIS techniques.

  • In this study, we performed spatial cluster analysis which considered spatial information using earthquake data for Korean peninsula occurred on 1978 year to 2005 year. Also, we look into how to be clustered for regions using earthquake magnitude and frequency based on spatial scan statistic. And, on the basis of the results, we constructed earthquake map by earthquake outbreak risk and gave a possible explanation for the results of spatial cluster analysis.

  • Recently. the advent of WWW increased the population of internet users and many institutions are carrying out technical development research to implement spatial data distribution environment via internet because importance of Web Geographic Information System(WGIS) is being increased highly. To be accessed WGIS data, we need Spatial Data Electronic Distribution System(SDEDS) which registers and sell spatial data in WWW. In this paper, we Propose and design effective SDEDS to expel spatial data electronic distribution system which is connected WWW. Therefore, we show how to implement and functions of each module.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a method to provide environment information based on spatial information document. At present, a lot of spatial information, including environment information, is being produced, but separate software or system is required for the user to acquire the information. In particular, in the case of environment information, various types of information are being produced, such as ecology, vegetation and measurement network data. Therefore, it is necessary to present the form and the making method of spatial information document that allows using environment information as spatial information without separate software or system. To provide spatial information document-based environment information, types and forms of environment information, data format and offering methods produced by the government, in particular, the Ministry of Environment and the local governments, are analyzed. 12 fields are classified and the form of produced data is GIS DB, measurement network data, text data and so on. With decrease of paper maps, spatial information document that offers display by layer, coordinate data, attribute data, distance and area measurement, location search by coordinates, GPS location linkage and location display on the map is presented to increase utilization of geo-environment information maps. Finally, the standard document specification based on spatial information document is presented in consideration of usability and readability in order to provide a variety of environment information without separate software or system.
