A Study on the influence of Froebel′s Kindergarten system upon the modern architecture and design (프뢰벨의 킨더가르텐 시스템이 근대건축과 디자인에 미친 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to search for the geometrical principles in modern architecture and design based on Frobel's educational idea and Kindergarten system. Especially, it studies on the geometrical principles of Froebel's building gifts and it's types, and then illustrates applied examples in modern architecture and design. As the architectural scope, the architecture and design theory of Frank Lloyd Wright and Bauhaus in early 20th century is analyzed. The conclusions of this study that starts these purpose are as follows. First, Froebel's educational theory is based on principles and rules which are perceived through the observation of nature, and Froebel's Kindergarten system consists of geometrical building gifts and categories of geometrical forms. Second, the characteristics of Froebel's building gifts are mathematical size, proportion, symmetry and the rules of spatial relation. Third, the influence of Froebel's kindergarten system on Bauhaus is that it based on the rational rules of $\bigtriangleup\square\bigcirc$ organized by geometrical basic forms as like Froebel's educational idea. And the influence of Froebel's Kindergarten system on Frank Lloyd Wright is that he used unit system, unity of space and structure and modular system as like the Froebel's building gifts.

The Analysis of Structural Meaning of Mobility Design on Furnitecture - Focused on the Works of Andrea Zittel - (건축적 가구에 나타난 모빌리티(Mobility)의 구조적 의미 분석 - 안드레아 지텔의 작품을 중심으로 -)

  • The research aims to analyze the structural meaning of mobility design on 'Furnitecture' with the works of Andrea Zittel. The study consists of the literature review and the analysis of Zittel's works. The framework for the analysis is divided into four steps: identification of visual forms/structure/function, analysis of the principles of delivering the concept of mobility, interpretation & synthesis of the relational meanings derived from the concepts of mobility, and evaluation of Zittel's tendency toward design/social background/design history, etc. Total fifteen cases are selected from Zittel's works, and each case is analyzed following the above steps. The finding shows that Zittel likes to play with geometrical forms, grid & modular system to create a minimum space for living equipped with critical furnishing. Secondly, Zittel's works deliver the concept of mobility by applying movability, adaptation, combination and transformation. Thirdly, through the concepts of mobility, Zittel reflects the ideas of high efficiency and functionalism, harmony with natural environment, search for liberty, simple & humble life and success of the designers of American modernism. Finally, it is found that modernism from the era of Bauhaus, utopian values derived from constructionism, utilitarianism inspired by Shakers and homestead act & mobile home/capsule unit suggested since 19th century in America mainly affect Zittel's works to reflect the dynamic concepts of mobility through the design of furnitecture.

Van Test for GAK NM (GPS Adapter Kit Navigation Module) Using High Performance INS (고정밀 INS를 이용한 GAK(GPS Adapter Kit) 항법 모듈의 차량 시험)

  • GPS adapter kit (GAK) is a GPS/INS guided range extension system to improve the accuracy and availability of existing dumb bombs. In this paper, a van test result of GPS/INS navigation module (NM) for guided bomb with GAK has been presented. The NM consists of a commercial MEMS IMU, embedded GPS receiver and navigation computer unit (NCU). The GPS receiver of NM was designed to use multiple antennas for satellite visibility and GPS attitude determination. The real-time navigation software was designed by modularized structure to guarantee the maintainability and extensibility. In order to evaluate the performance of the NM, a van test was preformed by using a high performance INS - Honeywell H-726 MAPS(Modular Azimuth Position System).The van test results show that the GAK NM with GPS attitude measurement gives better navigation performance than a conventional GPS/INS integration and good coasting capabilities under jamming environment.

A Study on the Development Method of e-Learning Contents by the Level of Demand for Landscaping Practical Education - Development and Reuse of Modular Learning Objects - (조경실무 교육수요 수준별 이러닝 콘텐츠 개발 방법론 - 모듈형 학습객체 개발과 재사용을 중심으로 -)

  • Landscape Architecture is a minority manpower field that requires wide knowledge and experience. Therefore, the service market is narrower than other fields, and education service for practitioners is lacking. The purpose of this study is to propose e-learning content development methodology that can provide customized landscaping practical education according to the level of education and increase the economic efficiency of the development process. First, in theoretical review, the ADDIE model was modified to select the curriculum development model that pursues efficiency and introduced the concept of reusing learning objects in the SCORM-based model. In particular, to overcome the problems presented in the precious studies, the analysis and design stages have been strengthened and faculty designers with integrated knowledge of Landscape Architecture and ICT have led the overall phase. The actual development process is based on a step by step procedure--analysis of landscaping practitioners needs and environments, etc., teaching and learning procedures and the design of activities considering contents reuse, the first development such as actual shooting and editing, and the second development reusing the first development content--and was done in the order of evaluation and revision of professionalism and satisfaction. As a result of the study, the space-based courses composed of modular learning objects were first developed as 216 courses in 8 subjects, as 208 courses in 3 subjects in total, in which the modularized learning object are crossed and combined in units and difficulty-based courses were second developed in 216 courses with 3 subjects in total. As a result of the evaluation the satisfaction assessment of the overall satisfaction was 4.20 and the average value of the eight measures was 3.97, both being close to 4.0. For the professional assessment, the scores of 8 subjects were very high at 84.8 to 96.4 points. in context, the scores of 5 subjects were equal to from 89.9 to 96.4 points. In conclusion, as the study was conducted based on a clear understanding of the digital characteristics of e-learning contents and general characteristic of the landscaping industry, it was possible to develop a curriculum by developing a course composed of modular learning objects and reusing learning objects by unit. In particular, it has been proven to be effective in conveying professional knowledge and experiences via general procedures and provided an opportunity to overcome some analog problems that may occur in offline education. In the future, further studies need to be done by expanding the content and by focusing on segmented subjects.
