  • This study was performed to propose the site selection plan for the restoration of the target Narrow-mouth Frog(Kaloula borealis) habitat, and has developed the AHP model to select the optimal site for narrow-mouth frog habitat restoration on the basis of the narrow-mouth frog Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) items (factors and variables). The assessment areas were established by the narrow-mouth frog HSI factors such as space, feed, cover, water(breeding), threatening factors and others, and the sub-assessment items by each assessment area were established based on the narrow-mouth frog HSI variables. The weighting values of the assessment areas and items were calculated by the developed AHP method. The weighting values of the 5 assessment areas were arranged in order as cover(0.283), water(breeding)(0.276), feed(0.230), space(0.147), and threatening factor(0.064). The final weighting values of the 14 assessment items were arranged in order of height as low-rise grassland(0.190), soil quality(0.178), and stones and between the stones(0.105). The scoring criteria according to the assessment items and factors were marked and applied by equal intervals considering the criteria by HSI items of the narrow-mouth frog and finally the scoring criteria diagram has been proposed for the optimal site selection of the narrow-mouth frog habitat restoration.

  • Recently, as tunnel structures are getting older and decrepit, many tunnel inspections are carried out for evaluating the tunnel state and safety. But, because there is no exact standard for tunnel state and safety, depending on subjective decision, the new standard to assess the tunnel state is required. The existing standard including mainly the assessment of the state of tunnel lining is not considered the characteristics of tunnel as underground structures. Also, the item of assessment and process of grading and classifying the state of tunnel is not objective and systemetic. In this study, new standard for assessment of tunnel state is presented for improving the problems in evaluating the tunnel state and safety. In the new standard, the new items of assessment including geotechnical condition were selected and graded, the process in classifying the tunnel state is quantitative for objective assessment for tunnel state. This new standard and method is practically used in effective safety inspection and diagnosis and tunnel maintenance.

The final weighting values of the 17 assessment items were arranged in order of height as all kind of food(0.222), water depth(0.096), altitude of spawning ground(0.093). The scoring criteria according to the assessment items and factors were marked and applied by equal intervals considering the criteria by HSI items of the Reeve's turtle and finally the scoring criteria diagram as been proposed for the optimal site selection of the Reeve's turtle habitat restoration.

  • For the purpose of facing battle damage that a fighter is subject to in combat, following recovery procedures such as damage assessment, repair design and structural integrity evaluation are investigated. A sample study is presented on the battle damage of F-15 ECS bay, which is comprised of damage assessment and repair design based on ABDR(Aircraft Battle Damage Repair) skills and work procedure complying with AFTO(Air Force Technical Order) forms. Further, the flight safety of repaired structure is validated and the time the permanent repair should be done is estimated through the evaluation of structural integrity such as the calculation of static strength and fatigue life.

  • This study has intended to evaluate the subjective landscape of rural region using additive integration index calculation model in Seondong region, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Korea. This study consists of the following three steps. First, this study defmed the rural landscape using survey and developed the estimating equation for rural landscape assessment index. Second, this study set up assessment units and assessment indicators, then estimated mean of representative landscape adjectives in accordance with them through residents-participatory evaluation. Third, this study calculated rural landscape assessment index using additive integration index calculation model, and evaluated subjective landscape of rural region in accordance with space types and landscape fields through mapping methodology. The results of this study can be described as follows: 1) satisfaction level for landscape in accordance with village (urban area and residential area) was very high; 2) satisfaction level was very high in both Ye-Jeon reservoir and Hakwon farm, representative landscape resources of the study area.

  • The construction method for Young Dong Tunnel has been chosen following detailed risk assessment. In this paper, the specific risks to the project programme, associated with adopting either mechanical excavation in the form of a shielded TBM, or drill and blast excavation methods, are assessed. From the risk assessment results, and taking other important factors into account, such as project sensitivity and local experience, the recommendation is made that the relatively low risk drill-and-blast method is the most appropriate for construction of Young Dong Tunnel.

  • This study examined disaster risk from climate change in urban open spaces. This study conducted an assessment depending on type of damage and type of open space, subcategorizing it into flood damage and wind damage, flat park and mountainous park, and classified the assessment items by type into natural factor, artificial factor, and social factor for the purpose of analysis. Our major findings from this study are as follows: To look at the standardized score for the disaster risk from flood damages in the case of a flat park, Asian Park was higher at 55.800 point than Seoul Forest at 51.775 point, and in the case of mountainous parks, Dogok Park was at 58.428 point and Baebongsan Park was at 58.374 point. To look at the standardized score for disaster risk from wind damage, in the case of a flat park, Asian Park was higher at 64.763 point than Seoul Forest at 61.054 point, and in the case of mountainous parks, Baebongsan Park was higher at 58.533 point than Dogok Park at 55.459 point. This study raised a question about the necessity for and value of this disaster risk assessment in open space from damages caused by climate change, established an assessment model for disaster risk from damages in open spaces only to attempt risk assessment. Disaster risk of urban green space was enhanced.

  • The purpose of this study was to carry out a comprehensive assessment of Donjibong Park in Daegu and establish a master plan for green space considering the functional characteristics of the park. For this purpose, green space in the park was assessed based on 13 indicators using three functions. A comprehensive green master plan was then proposed. Green spaces with high scores for the natural-ecological and environmental-control functions were found in the central area of the park, whereas green spaces with low scores were found near the park boundary and paved areas. Green spaces in the southeast were found to have a high score for usage functions due to their proximity to a residential area. In the master plan based on the comprehensive assessment, the plan space was divided into a conservation area, restoration area, buffer area, environmental monitoring area, observatory/trail/facility area, and waterside green space area. Also, concrete plan directions were proposed based on each plan space. These results can be utilized for establishing objective plans in the future construction of new parks.
