SCM415 alloy was implanted with nitrogen ions using plasma source ion implantation (PSII), at a dose range of $1{\times}10^{17}\;to\;6{\times}10^{17}N^{+}cm^{-2}$. Auger electron spectrometry (AES) was used to investigate the depth profile of the implanted layer. Friction and wear tests were carried out on a block-on-ring wear tester. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the micro-morphology of the worn surface. The results revealed that after being implanted with nitrogen ions, the frictional coefficient of the surface layer decreased, and the wear resistance increased with the nitrogen dose. The tribological mechanism was mainly adhesive, and the adhesive wear tended to become weaker oxidative wear with the increase in the nitrogen dose. The effects were mainly attributed to the formation of a hard nitride precipitate and a supersaturated solid solution of nitrogen in the surface layer.
Infrared emissions from spherical dust, clouds are calculated using quasi-diffusion method. We have employed graphite-silicate mixture with power-law size distribution for the dust model. The grains are assumed to be heated and cooled by radiative processes only. The primary heating source is diffuse interstellar radiation field. hut the cases with an embedded source are also considered. Since graphite grains have higher temperature than silicate grains, the observed IR emission is mainly due to graphite grains, unless the fraction of graphite grains is negligibly small. The color temperature of Bok globules obtained from IRAS 60 and $100{\mu}m$ data are found to be consistent with the dust cloud with graphite-silicate mixture exposed to average interstellar radiation field. The color temperature is sensitive to the external radiation field, but rather insensitive to the size distribution of the grains. We found that the density distribution can be recovered outside the beam size using the inversion technique that assumes negligible optical depth. However, the information within the beam size is lost for if beam convolved intensity distributions are used in deriving density profile.
Noise generated from wind turbines has been predicted by numerical methods. Sound pressure level(SPL) on the turbines is predicted after aerodynamic analysis is carried out by Wind Turbine Flow, Aeroacoustics and Structure analysis (WINFAS) code. The level of each panel of acoustic sphere is determined by the sum of tonal, turbulence ingestion and airfoil self noise. With the noise source database, the acoustic sphere, SPL on the ground is calculated using the model based on acoustic ray theory. The model has been designed to consider the effects on the condition of terrain and atmosphere. The variations of SPL on the ground occur not only because of the different source level but also because of the nonuniform distributions of the sound speed along the height. Hence, the profile of an effective sound speed which is the sum of the contribution of sound speed to a temperature gradient and a wind speed variation is used by the theory based on atmospheric stability. With the integrated numerical method, the prediction of sound propagation on the wind farm is carried out with the states of the atmospheric stability.

A method for the synthesis of one-dimensional nonlinear distribution function is presented for the desired inverse scattering pattern. This method is based on the inverse transform of the solution of the Riccati equation derived from one-dimensional inverse scattering problem. Since the solution is analogous to the array factor or normalized space factor in collinear array antenna, the synthesis method for field pattern is applied for the construction of the involved line-source nonlinear distribution function. The suggested method is carried out under the optimization process, and is numerically verified by synthesizing the dispersive transmission line profile within the specified frequency band and control of scattered field on resistive strip.
Marine controlled source electromagnetics (CSEM) or sea bed logging (SBL) is an emerging technology which can provide quantitative information on hydrocarbon reservoir embedded in marine sediment. Electromagnetic responses to the resistive formation saturated with a certain amount of hydrocarbon can be characterized by less attenuated profile otherwise exponentially attenuated fields in conductive sea water or through sediments, and thus can be regarded as a direct indicator of hydrocarbon. In this paper, we introduce the technology of marine CSEM in terms of its physical characteristics and in comparison of typical three-dimensional (3-D) seismic method. History and evolution of commercial marine CSEM are also briefly summarized. We then introduce a representative case history showing how marine CSEM works in reality. Outlook of future applications and technical advances to be made are discussed. Finally, we demonstrate a test example of 2.5-D inversion of synthetic data as the groundwork of 3-D inversion of field data that is to be the ultimate goal of technical development.

To delineate subglacial and englacial images of the western Fourcade Glacier in Antarctica, GPR data were acquired along a 470 m profile in November 2006. Signature deconvolution, migration velocity analysis, and finite difference depth migration were effective in increasing vertical resolution, obtaining the velocity function, and yielding clear depth images of the mixed-phase single-channel data, respectively. The source signature was extracted through stacking reflection signals from the basement. The deconvolution successfully compressed the source signatures to increase temporal resolution and attenuated reverberations. Medium velocities were analyzed with 112 diffraction events by the constant-velocity migration method based on the Stolt algorithm. Finally, depth migration based on the finite difference algorithm provided clear englacial and subglacial images in the laterally-varying velocity field.
In this paper, a design of radiation detector for gamma column scanner is introduced. Distillation column is important unit in Petro-chemical industries, and its on-line diagnose is very important. To get density profile measured by the radiation transmitted through column is well method for on-line diagnose as gamma scanning. For this purpose radiation detection circuit, radiation source and mechanical system for moving source and detector are required. Conventional radiation detection circuit for this application is sensitive to electric noise because of interface between the radiation circuit and the controller for mechanical system. The radiation detection system introduced here is using loop coil instead of slip ring to remove contact noise. Radiation detection system designed here for gamma scanning consist of BGO detector, high voltage circuit, PHA circuit and FSK modem. The BGO detector is used as radiation sensor, high voltage circuit and peak height analysis circuit is essential to process the signal generated from BGO detector. Micro controller convert measured data into ASCII data. FSK modem transmit ASCII data. Transmitted ASCH data is picked up in antenna coil and processed for combined function with mechanical system. This method gives good result by isolating the controlling circuit of mechanical system from radiation detecting circuit which is sensitive to noise.

The aircraft targeted in this study is a vertical take-off and landing aircraft with 4 to 5 passengers, and the propulsion system for the aircraft is a distributed hybrid propulsion system that uses a gas turbine engine and a battery pack as the main power source to supply the power required by multiple motors. In this study, a design/analysis platform for a hybrid propulsion system was developed using the MATLAB/Simulink program based on the preliminary design results. Through simulation analysis, the output characteristics and operating range of each power source according to the mission profile were confirmed, and through this, the feasibility of the preliminary design result was confirmed.
This research was conducted to estimate the chlorophyll contents of chrysanthemum leaves using SPAD-502 chlorophyll meter under different photoperiod and light intensity. Measurements were done at every third leaf intervals starting from the top of the stem to the bottom at harvest time. SPAD value was highest at 10 hours of photoperiods, followed by 13 and 16 hours of photoperiods. In particular, under short day condition, SPAD value was highest in the young leaves below the flower bud and decreased down the leaf profile. Under long day condition, SPAD value reached maximum at leaves between $15-27^{th}$ from the top and decreased to the minimum immediately below the flower bud (youngest leaf). These results may indicate that the younger leaves become strong source of supporting flowers in reproductive stage, while the younger leaves serve as sinks and older leaves support their development in vegetative stage. Changes of SPAD value at different levels of irradiance showed that highest SPAD value were observed at high irradiance and decreased with decreasing irradiance.

The personal praying sentence in personal praying scripts of Koryo Dynasty should be very important source for study of Koryo buddhism's history as well as historics, bibliographics and art historics. Especially it would be good source for study of official position in Koryo Dynasty because in the personal praying scripts the prayers expressed their own official position when compared to the official positions presented in Bekguanji(all officer's magazine) in Koryosa(history of Koryo Dynasty). As the characteristic of script is presented in the contents of personal praying sentence, it would be remarkable source for study on the history of buddhism's thought. Through the personal praying sentence it is possible to make clear the hopes of donor and high monks who were the key members for writing praying script. Also study on the personal praying sentences in Koryo scripts would be helpful for understanding the profile of society of Koryo Dynasty.
