  • In this study, a machine learning (ML) algorithm is analyzed and summarized as a self-organizing network (SON) realization technology that can minimize expert intervention in the planning, configuration, and optimization of mobile communication networks. First, the basic concept of the ML algorithm in which areas of the SON of this algorithm are applied, is briefly summarized. In addition, the requirements and performance metrics for ML are summarized from the SON perspective, and the ML algorithm that has hitherto been applied to an SON achieves a performance in terms of the SON performance metrics.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of son preference and the related factors among married women in Metro Manila Philippines and to compare between Filipino women and Chinese-Filipino women in many respects. Local schools were contacted for recruitment of participants (n=206) The results showed that more than a half of the respondents(54.5%) preferred a son for the first child. On the other hand almost a half(44.7%) preferred a daughter for the second child. It is interesting that almost a third of married women showed an equal preference between a son and a daughter for the first child (34.2%) and the second child (31.2%) The results of multiple regression analysis revealed that son preference was most strongly related to women's patriarchal attitude and orientation and secondly to a strong son preference for the first child. Two groups of women Filipino and Chinese-Filipino were compared in the level of parental support and expectation for sons and d ughters perception of women's position in family and society patriarchal attitudes and orientation sex preference for the first and the second child reasons of son preference and demographic characteristics. It was found that filipino women tended to prefer a daughter for the second child much more and to perceive women's position much higher than Chinese-Filipino women. Filipino mothers showed an equal level of support and expectations for sons and daughters much more than Chinese groups. For the reasons of son preference it was notable that Filipino women tended to rely on sons in old age much more than Filipino counterparts. Based on the findings of this study three factors were found strong enough to drawour attention. Daughter preference high position of women and equal support for sons and daughters appeared to be closely related in a meaningful way. Future studies need to focus on the relationships among three factors in depth Three factors suggest some important direction tha a strong son preference country like Korea need to head forward in a near future.

  • The aims of this study is to investigate the trend of the attitude and behavior toward the inheritance of asset and ancestral rites among urban families. The aged were selected out of the continuing education center in Seoul for questionnaires to figure out the subjects above. The main results of this study are as follows: 1. For the attitude toward the inheritance of ancestral rites, it was positive for the eldest son or the one who inherited much asset or the religious organization to perform the ancestral rites. But it was negative for the married daughter or the adopted son to hold the ancestral rites. 2. For the inheritance behaviour of the ancestral rites, it is not common for the eldest son to inherit ancestral rites but common to perform it. 3. In the group who are positive to donate their property to society, it is common not to prefer the eldest son in inheriting property. In the group who are positive about preferring the eldest son in inheriting property, they preferred the eldest son in succession to an asset. 4. Most of sons, especially the eldest son, were preferred in inheriting asset and ancestral rites. And they were much more preferred in inheriting ancestral rites than asset.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the support consciousness of the son-in-law's towards their mother-in-laws and also to study their marital quality(marital satisfaction, spousal influence, spousal loyalty) based on the relation-satisfaction between mother-in-law and son-in-law. We selected 319 married men who had their mother-in-laws as participants of this study and their age groups ranged from the twenties to the sixties. The major findings of this study were as follows: (1) There were significant differences in marital quality and also in the son-in-law's relation-satisfaction with their mother-in-laws with respect to the two-income family, the number of children and the educational level. (2) Marital satisfaction, spousal influence and support consciousness towards mother-in-law affected positively the relation-satisfaction between the mother-in-laws and the son-in-laws.

  • The formation of silicon-on-nothing (SON) structure during an annealing process from the silicon substrate including the trench structures has been considered as an effective technique to construct the structure that has an empty space under the closed flat surface. Previous studies have demonstrated the mechanism of the formation of SON structure, which is based on the surface diffusion driven by the minimization of their surface energy. Also, it has been fragmentarily shown that the morphology of SON structure can be affected by the initial design of trench (e.g., size, number) and the annealing conditions (e.g., temperature, pressure). Based on the previous studies, here, we report a comprehensive study for the design of the cavity-embedded structure (i.e., SON structure). To do this, a dynamic model has been developed with the phase field approach. The simulation results represent that the morphology of SON structures could be detailedly designed, for example the position and thickness of cavity, the thickness of top and bottom layer, according to the design parameters. This study will give us an advantage in the effective design of SON structures.

  • In a big data platform, association rule mining applications could bring some benefits. For instance, in a agricultural big data platform, the association rule mining application could recommend specific products for farmers to grow, which could increase income. The key process of the association rule mining is the frequent itemsets mining, which finds sets of products accompanying together frequently. Former researches about this issue, e.g. Apriori, are not satisfying enough because huge possible sets can cause memory to be overloaded. In order to deal with it, SON algorithm has been proposed, which divides the considered set into many smaller ones and handles them sequently. But in a single machine, SON algorithm cause heavy time consuming. In this paper, we present a method to find association rules in our Hadoop based big data platform, by parallelling SON algorithm. The entire process of association rule mining including pre-processing, SON algorithm based frequent itemset mining, and association rule finding is implemented on Hadoop based big data platform. Through the experiment with real dataset, it is conformed that the proposed method outperforms a brute force method.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family climate of fathers' family of origin, fathers' satisfaction with marriage and life, and parenting on father-son intimacy. A total of 297 adolescents(M=15 yrs. SD=1.4) and their fathers completed questionnaires. Data were analyzed by structural equation model using AMOS 7.0. Results indicated that 1) family climate of fathers' family of origin affected further-son intimacy positively through both fathers' high marital and life satisfaction, and thereby supportive parenting behavior. 2) Family climate of the family of origin affected farther-son intimacy negatively through low marital satisfaction and thereby high psychological controlling parenting. These results evinced that family climate of father's family of origin could be the source of father-son intimacy while fathers' marital and life satisfaction and parenting behaviors mediate the relationships.

  • There is a discrepancy in opinion regarding geological age of Okchon system among professor C.M. Son and the writer who represent the two school of thought in precambrian stratigraphy in Korea as a whole. This brief article is a reply to the recent paper by C.M. Son titled "On the geological age of the Ogcheon Group" The discrepancy in opinion on the age Okchon system is based mainly on the difference in opinion about the age of Majeonri, Hwachonri and Kounri formations, the age of which professor Son believes as post-ordovician and regards them as a part of the Great Limestone series and the base of the Ogchon Group. The writer is in a opinion that Okchon system belong to precambrian in age and Majeonri-, Hwachonri-, and Kounri formations are the same formation composing an upper member of Okchon system. The writer's opinion is based on the facts that i) stratigraphical sequence of Okchon system established by the writer was accepted by C.M. Son who used believed the reverse order in sequence and confessed his mistake in his article; and ii) regional stratigraphy and structure strongly support's to writer's opinion. The writer pointed out and discussed in this paper various facts which do not support Son's idea by any means.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the Korean's value of children and perception of parenting difficulty through the agreement to the three kinds of Korean proverbs: difficulty of parenting, preference of son and value of daughter. Also, this study attempted to identify whether the value of children and the perceived difficulty of parenting measured by the agreement of the proverb is related to the number of children they thought as ideal before marriage and the number of children they actually have. Total 385 married men and women who have a job participated in the survey. Main result is as follows. 1) In most cases, the ideal number of children was at least equal or more than the actual number of children. 2) The subjects showed higher degree of agreement to the proverbs regarding the difficulty of parenting than the preference of son or the value of daughter. 3) The degree of agreement to each kind of proverbs were different in terms of some demographic variables such as age and sex. 4) When the age effect controlled, the ideal number of son had correlation with the agreement to the son-preference proverbs while the ideal number of daughter or total children had no correlation with agreement to any kinds of proverb. The actual number of son was positively correlated with agreement to the son-preference proverbs while actual number of daughter was negatively correlated with it. In conclusion, this study suggests the Korean's value of children has been rapidly changing and it has, in part, an effect on the number of children they want to have or they actually have.
