Design and Analysis Method for A DC Magnetic Contactor with a Permanent Magnet

  • The demand for a DC power distributed system is increasing as renewable energy sources and DC electrical load are proliferating. For the automation of a power system, a magnetic contactor for the DC power system is required. The conventional magnetic contactors are mostly equipped with a solenoid magnetic actuator. However, the conventional magnetic contactor has problems with continuous power consumption, and heat generation. To address these problems, a permanent magnet type DC magnetic contactor is proposed in this paper.

하이브리드 승용차용 전자식 무단변속기의 개발 (Development of Electronically Controlled CVT for Hybrid Passenger Car)

  • In this paper, the details of electronically controlled CVT is described , which Kia Motor company recently developed in prototype form for hybrid passenger car. This transmission has two input shafts, one for engine and the other for traction motor. The shaft for traction motor is located at rear side which is extended from primary pulley shaft and connected to traction motor through adapter gear box. Adopting two input system, various driving mode is available such as motor alone driving in hybrid vehicle application. As far as electrohydraulic system concerned , this transmission uses two bleed type variable force solenoids for line pressure and ratio control, and one on-off solenoid for clutch control. Another feature for this transmission is that oil pump for transmission is separate from CVT for supplying oil pressure even at vehicle standstill.

  • 직구동방식 고속 솔레노이드 액추에이터는 자동차, 항공산업 등의 고정밀을 요구하는 산업시스템에 주요부품으로 사용되기 때문에 고신뢰성이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 직구동방식 고속 솔레노이드 액추에이터의 신뢰성 평가를 위하여 2단계 품질기능전개를 통해 신뢰성시험항목을 결정하였다. 신뢰성평가 시험 중에서 가장 큰 우선도를 차지하는 수명시험에 대해 문헌, 연구계 및 현장실무자를 통한 무고장 수명시험 시간을 산출하였다. 또한 장기간 소요되는 무고장 수명시험 시간의 시간을 단축하기 위해 가속모델을 제안하고 실제 조건을 충족하는 가속수명 시험시간을 산출하였다.

  • The electrical insulation design of high voltage superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) should be confirmed to be applied for the stabilization of the power grid. This paper describes numerical analysis and AC dielectric experiments for developing high voltage SFCLs. The electric field distributions between applied high voltage part and ground were calculated by finite element method (FEM) simulation tool and AC criterion of liquid nitrogen at 200 kPa was calculated from correlation between the field utilization factor and FEM simulation results. This paper deals with ceonceptual insulation design of a 154 kV class single-phase no-inductively wound solenoid type SFCL which was focused on gap distance between the cryostat and superconducting coils. Furthermore, the shield ring effect was confirmed to reduce maximum electric field at applied high voltage part.

정밀 위치제어를 위한 공압 피스톤의 미소변위 이송방법 및 혼합 제어 알고리즘 개발 (Development of the Small-displacement-movement of a Pneumatic piston and the Hybrid Control Algorithm for Precision Position Control)

  • This paper proposes a methodology for the small-displacement-movement of a piston and develops a hybrid control algorithm for the precision position control of a pneumatic rodless cylinder. The pneumatic system uses the voltage-proportional solenoid valves to minimum valve switching since the on/off type valves are create diffculties for accurate position control and induce a lot of valve switching. For the accurate position control a methodology for the small-displacement-movement of the piston is developed and identified experimentally. The main consideration on the development of the hybrid control law is to eliminate a stick-slip phenomenon in the pneumatic control system. This paper addresses these critical issues and presents experimental results for the pneumatic control system.

  • A mechanical type pulsation dampener for the diaphragm metering pump has been developed. The pulsation pressure is an inevitable phenomenon for the positive displacement pump such as cam operated or solenoid operated metering pump. The pulsation pressure of the metering pump could be the noise source and would be harmful for the piping system which delivers hydraulic fluid. Developed pulsation dampener consists of three coil springs which have different spring constant and height each other. Depending on pressure magnitude of the piping system, total hydraulic pressure on damping diaphragm which compresses coil springs will be varied. Force equilibrium of the pulsation dampener will be set by manual by adjusting the compressed coil spring height. During the discharge stroke, pulsation dampener stores potential energy that is released as the pumping diaphragm back to an initial position during the suction stroke.

  • The object of this paper is development of pneumatic servo actuator technique for energy saving type. In this paper, consist of pneumatic servo actuator technique is pneumatic servo valve, pneumatic motor and cylinder. This technique applied a automobile, aerospace engineering, a ship, defence industry and industrial machine because it have high response, high speed, high precision control, low friction etc., compare with previously technique. But it depend on import the whole quantity. So this study, suggest that through the development of servo actuator applicable the use of industrial field.

계란 크랙의 온라인 검출 (On-line Detection of Cracks in Eggshell)

  • This study was conducted to develop an automatic egg inspection system for detecting creaked eggs based on acoustic impulse response. This system includes a sound generator, a sound sensor with signal conditioner, and a computer. The sound generator that hit the sharp of the dull edges of an egg was constructed with a ceramic ball pendulum attached to a rotary type solenoid. The signal conditioner included a pre-amplifier and a digital signal processing (DSP) board. The parameters for distinguishing cracked and normal eggs were the area, the geometric centroid and the resonance frequency of power spectrum of the acoustic signal generated. An algorithm for on-line detection of the continuous transferring eggs was developed. The performance tests resulted with 91% success rate to separate cracked and normal eggs at the rate of 1 second per an egg.

  • This paper presents a control strategy of 4 wheel drive (4WD) vehicles. Proposed control strategy has simple structure and can easily apply to various vehicles with low cost and time. It is consist of feedforward control for traction ability, fedback control for minimizing the wheel speed difference and yaw control for lateral stability. In addition, to integrate the traction and stability control, a blending function is applied. To evaluate the feasibility of the proposed control strategy, actual vehicle experiment is conducted after deciding the tuning parameter through the simulation. The simulation is accomplished by CarSim and Matlab/Simulink and the actual vehicle test is conducted using full size Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) equipped rear wheel based solenoid type 4WD device.

  • Electro-pneumatic servo valve is an electro-mechanical device which converts electric signals into a proper pneumatic flow rate or pressure. In order to improve the overall performance of pneumatic servo systems, electro-pneumatic servo valves are required, which have fast dynamic characteristics, no air leakage at a null point, and can be fabricated at a low-cost. The objective of this research is to design and to fabricate a new electro-pneumatic servo valve which satisfies the above-mentioned requirements. In order to design the mechanism of the servo valve optimally, the flow inside the valve depending upon the position of spool was analyzed variously, and on the basis of such analysis results, the valve mechanism, which was formed by combination of the spool and the sleeve, was designed and manufactured. Further, the performance of pneumatic servo valve has been verified through an overall performance test on the developed product.
