Since the using of heating energy associated with infiltration is significant in a building, the efforts to minimize the infiltration while ensuring minimum ventilation rates for various types of occupancy will be beneficial. In constrast to that many efforts have been made to reduce heat loss by improving thermal resistance of building envelope, little has been tried to reduce heat loss from infiltration. For achieving such an objective, measurement of air leakage rate will be pre-requisite as a diagnostic tool. A blower door system, a depressurization/pressurization method, was employed and it demonstrated a good potential for measuring airtightness performance of residential buildings. Based on the test results, annual energy savings for residential heating was estimated by reducing infiltration to a level of reasonably airtight or to a level of ASHRAE Standard 62-1989 for minimum ventilation.
Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system operates as a multi-functional building construction material. They not only produce electricity, but also are building integral components such as facade, roof, window and shading device. On the other hands lots of architectural considerations should be reflected such as Installation position, shading, temperature effect and so on. As PV modules function like building envelope in BIPV, combined thermal and PV performance should be simultaneously evaluated This study is on the combined thermal and PV performance evaluation of BIPV modules. The purpose of this study is to investigate a temperature effect of PV module depending on the ventilation type of PV module backside. Test cell experiment was performed to identify the thermal and power effect of PV modules. Measurement results on the correlation of temperature and power generation were obtained. Those results can be utilized for the development of optimal BIPV installation details in the very early design stage.

A study on the required propulsion powers at the EAV2 electric propulsion vehicle using power system such as solar cell, fuel cell and secondary cell is conducted, through which the scenario about available supply power is discussed at the optimum propulsion system weight on the specified flight envelope. In the result, it is noticed that propulsion system weight is 7.06kg and fuelcell 500W and secondary cell 100W are available to flight for glider-type electric vehicle with 6m length, 0.35m width.
The application of the high-performance insulation materials for buildings seems to be an essential measure for reducing energy use in buildings. Phenolic foam is a readily available insulation material with thermal conductivity of about 0.018 to 0.020 W/(mK). It has the advantage of higher thermal resistance and better fire resistance compared to other conventional building insulation materials. Insulation material used for building envelope is regarded as one of the decisive factors for building's energy load. Furthermore, the degradation of its thermal performance over time increasingly affects the building's energy use demand. Generally, the life span of conventionally built buildings is expected to be more than 50 years, so the long-term performance of insulation materials is critical. This paper aims to evaluate the long-term performance of phenolic form boards through an accelerated aging test. The tests were conducted according to BS EN 13166 and KS M ISO 11561. Based on the results of the accelerated aging test, the thermal performance variation of the material was analyzed, and then its aged value after 25 years was computed. Also, the characteristics of the phenolic foam board's long-term performance were also examined based on the standard testing methods adopted.

According to flow of energy, the loss occurs through walls, roofs, windows and so on. Among these case, most of the loss that is about 45% occurs through windows. windows's U-value is six times higher than wall's one according to Building code, so the loss through windows accounts for very much rates. Currently, Exterior wall's U-value about building envelope is 0.35~0.58W/ mK, but windows's one is 3.3W/ mK. It means that the loss through windows occupy very much amounts relatively. Therefore, the solution is required to reduce energy loss and increasing displeasure caused by excessive influx of solar energy through windows, to solve the problems Like decoloration on indoor furniture an clothes by harmful ultraviolet rays, air conditioning and increased cost. Therefore, on this paper, Thermal Performance was evaluated through actual test about high insulation Super Window which can improve thermal performance and the Simulation result was compared with actual resul by using Simulation program WINDOW and THERM.
The integration of PV modules into building facades or roof could raise their temperature that results in the reduction of PV system's electrical power generation. Hot air can be extracted from the space between PV modules and building envelope, and used for heating in buildings. The extraction of hot air from the space will enhance the performance of BIPV systems. The solar collector utilizing these two aspects is called PV/T(photovoltaic/thermal) solar collector. This paper compares the experimental performance of two different types of air type PV/T collector units: the base case of a collector unit with 10cm gap for forced ventilation and the other unit with copper pin attached to PV module to enhance its thermal performance. The experimental results shows that the base case unit had the overall efficiency of 41.9% and the improved unit with copper pin attached to PV module had 50.1% efficiency. For these air type PV/T units, the forced ventilation of the air space improved the electrical performance as well as the thermal performance.

This study has been performed on the mechanism of heat transfer between stratospheric airship and its surroundings while the airship is staying in the air at the altitude of 20km. The computational grid of airship has been generated and the results influenced by the number and the shape of grids have been compared. The temperature distributions have been obtained through this thermal analysis considering three modes of heat transfer - conduction, convection and radiation - in stratospheric conditions. Based on the airship's surface and inner temperature variations, the influence of temperature distributions on the helium envelope and the payload has been predicted.
The Korean government plans to introduce the building energy performance standard which regulates the annual energy consumption of buildings. This paper aimed to set up the reference building from database based on the building design trends for non-residential buildings. We surveyed the design data of 435 non-residential buildings which were granted building permission from 2007 to 2011. And we conducted estimation on the heating & cooling load and the energy consumption of the reference building using ECO2 program. From results, the reference building of non-residential buildings was office building which had a total 7 floors and $20,838m^2$ gross floor area. And it suggests the design reference data of building envelope, HAVC, heat source equipment and lighting system for the reference building. The total annual energy use of the reference building was $151.9kWh/m^2yr$.
This study examines the influence of control algorithms on dimming performance to determine appropriate control setting when direct/indirect lighting is controlled by a daylight dimming system. Computer simulation were performed for a small office with double skin envelope under various daylight conditions. A retractable fabric shading and Venetian blind were applied for internal and external envelopes under three CIE standard sky conditions. Unshielded and partially-shielded photosensors were used, and three control algorithms were applied for the sensors. In general, dimming level was too excessive due to the direct impact of light from lighting fixture to the photosensor. Providing insufficient lighting output, the unshielded photosensor completely failed to secure required illuminance under any daylight condition. When a partially-shielded photosensor was applied under clear sky, three setting points functioned effectively. Less sensitivity for the partially-shielded photosensor was effective to control the dimming system optimally with reasonable energy saving. However, the daylight dimming control system for direct/indirect lighting does not appear to be energy effective when photosensors without enough shielded area is installed on ceiling where light from fixtures reaches directly.
One of the distinctive characteristics of the evolution of binary systems would be mass transfer. Close binary systems experience so-called Case A mass transfer during the main-sequence. We have performed calculations of the evolution of massive Case A (with the initial period 1.5 ~ 4.5 days) binary systems with the initial mass of 10 ~ 20 solar masses and mass ratio 0.5 ~ 0.95 using the MESA code. We find that in some systems, after the first mass transfer, the secondary stars evolve faster than the primary stars and undergo so-called 'reverse' mass transfer. Such phenomena tend to occur in relatively low-mass (initial mass < 16 solar masses) and close (initial period < 3 day) systems. Unless a system enters the common-envelope phase, the primary star would become a single helium star after the secondary star ends its life if the system were unbound by the neutron star kick. We find the various evolutionary implications of the remaining primary stars. In addition to the evolution into the compact single helium star progenitor, there is a possibility that the remaining primary star could evolve into a helium giant star, which could be a promising candidate for Type Ibn supernova progenitor, depending on the core mass. Further, we find that some primary stars satisfy the conditions for the formation of electron-capture supernova progenitor.
