  • Solar Thermal-Electric Integrated system can be used to generate heat and electricity simultaneously and can improve indoor all qualify. So, it can save heating and electricity cost as it operates at relatively lower temperatures. In this study, one pv module was fixed on a normal wall and a pv module was mounted on a solarwall. And a ventilation fan in the solar energy cogeneration panel was operated from 12:00 to 17:00 hours. Experimental results are recorded and anaysized. The comparison of results show that the temperature of PV on solar energy cogeneration panel was decreased by $7{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ and the electrical output was improved by $2{\sim}3W$ compared with a PV system without solarwall.

  • Smart power grid is a user friendly system that transforms the traditional electric grid to the one that operates in a co-operative and reliable manner. Demand Response (DR) is one of the important components of the smart grid. The DR programs enable the end user participation by which they can communicate with the electricity service provider and shape their daily energy consumption patterns and reduce their consumption costs. The increasing demands of electricity owing to growing population stresses the need for optimal usage of electricity and also to look out alternative and cheap renewable sources of electricity. The solar and wind energy are the promising sources of alternative energy at present because of renewable nature and low cost implementation. The proposed work models a smart home with renewable energy units. The random nature of the renewable sources like wind and solar energy brings an uncertainty to the model developed. A stochastic dual descent optimization method is used to bring optimality to the developed model. The proposed work is validated using the simulation results. From the results it is concluded that proposed work brings a balanced usage of the grid power and the renewable energy units. The work also optimizes the daily consumption pattern thereby reducing the consumption cost for the end users of electricity.

  • Recently, various researches about water resources management system have been conducted in order to handle many problems, for example, climate change can provoke rapid change of water circulation, continuous population increase, population concentration phenomenon and so on. For population concentration region, many researches about water resources management system have been carried out, but many regions far away from civilization have not been handled as research topics. Especially these regions always need electricity supply infra, but significant costs will be required to construct the infra. Therefore this paper presents a methodology in order to generate the electricity from new renewable energy resources and supply the electricity into these region. For this, solar thermal generation system was experimentally studied. Moreover, this solar power generation system was considered as an important component to establish an ESS (Energy Storage System).

  • Solar energy forecasting is essential for (1) power system planning, management, and operation, requiring accurate predictions. It is crucial for (2) ensuring a continuous and sustainable power supply to customers and (3) optimizing the operation and control of renewable energy systems and the electricity market. Recently, research has been focusing on developing solar energy forecasting models that can provide daily plans for power usage and production and be verified in the electricity market. In these prediction models, various data, including solar energy generation and climate data, are chosen to be utilized in the forecasting process. The most commonly used climate data (such as temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, solar radiation, and wind speed) significantly influence the fluctuations in solar energy generation based on weather conditions. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid forecasting model by combining the strengths of the Prophet model and the GRU model, which exhibits excellent predictive performance. The forecasting periods for solar energy generation are tested in short-term (2 days, 7 days) and medium-term (15 days, 30 days) scenarios. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the conventional Prophet model by more than twice in terms of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and surpasses the modified GRU model by more than 1.5 times, showcasing superior performance.

  • nZEH (net-Zero Energy House) is defined as a self-sufficient energy building where the sum of energy output generated from new & renewable energy system and annual energy consumption is zero. The electricity generated by new & renewable energy system with the form of distributed generation is preferentially supplied to electrical demand, and surplus electricity is transmitted back to grid. Due to the recent expansion of houses with photovoltaic system and the nZEH mandatory by 2025, the rapid increase of distributed generation is expected. Which means, we must prepare for an electricity-power accident and stable electricity supply. Also electricity charges have to be reduce and the grid-connected should be operated efficiently. The introduction of ESS is suggested as a solution, so the analysis of the load matching and grid interaction is required to optimize ESS design. This study analyzed the load matching and grid interaction by expected consumption behavior using actual data measured in one-minute intervals. The experiment was conducted in three nZEH with photovoltaic system, called all-electric houses. LCF (Load Cover Factor), SCF (Supply Cover Factor) and $f_{grid}$ (Grid Interaction Index) were evaluated as an analysis indicator. As a result, LCF, SCF and $f_{grid}$ of A house were 0.25, 0.23 and 0.27 respectively; That of B house were 0.23, 0.23, 0.19, and that of C were 0.20, 0.19, 0.27 respectively.

  • In this work, we analyzed correlations between life-cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and life-cycle cost of energy resources. Energy resources studied in this paper include coal, natural gas, nuclear power, hydropower, geothermal energy, wind power, solar thermal energy, and solar photovoltaic energy, and all of them are used to generate electricity. We calculated the mean values, ranges of maximum minus minimum values, and ranges of 90% confidence interval of life-cycle GHG emissions and life-cycle cost of each energy resource. Based on the values, we plotted them in two dimensional graphs to analyze a relationship and characteristics between GHG emissions and cost. Besides, to analyze the technical maturity, the GHG emissions and the range of minimum and maximum values were compared to each other. For the electric generation, energy resources are largely inverse proportional to the GHG emission and the corresponding cost.

  • Along with fusion energy, photovoltaic solar energy conversion has long been considered as one of the few sustainable options for large scale energy supply in the future. In the past, commercial use has been restricted largely to remote area applications where conventional electricity is expensive. However, 1998 marked a year of transition where the major application of the cells changed to become generation of residential electricity in urban areas already supplied by the conventional grid. The current state of the technology is discussed as are major overseas programs to accelerate the urban residential use of photovoltaics, particularly in Japan, Europe and the United States, includng the "million roof" program in the latter. Finally, the planned use of photovoltaics in the Sydney 2000 Olympics is described, where the technology will be used to provide most of the electricity requirements of the 665 residences which will be a legacy of the Olympic Village.

  • Korea government aims to generate 20 percent of its electricity with clean, renewable energy by 2030, while reducing its reliance on fossil fuel and nuclear power plants. Technically, solar energy has resource potential that far exceeds the entire global energy demand. Solar energy industry has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years due to both technological improvements resulting in cost reductions and government policies for renewable energy development and utilization. Even though solar power generation has several advantages over other forms of electricity generation, the major problem is the requirement of land which is scarcely available in the local site and its cost. This study analyzes the available capacity of landing and floating solar plants for the case of chonnam province in korea. The results of design capacity show about 7.5GW for landing and 1.5GW for floating solar power plant. Also, with a purpose to comprehend intention-behaviour gap about acceptance of solar community, the solutions are suggested.

  • Solar cells have widely been utilized for a satellite to convert sunlight energy into electricity in space. Many different types of solar cells appropriate for each satellite program are available in current markets, which enables us to construct a solar array light and small often required from a low Earth orbit (LEO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. Thus, it is important to choose a proper solar cell satisfying the requirements of mass and size for the solar array. In this article, we have surveyed typical suppliers and have discussed some characteristics of solar cells. Conceptual design examples of the solar array for LEO SAR satellites using several types of solar cells have been performed to show the pros and cons of solar cells by comparison of the total mass and size necessary for the solar array.
