  • Power Flow Analysis (PFA) is introduced for solving the noise and vibration analysis of structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges. The vibration analysis software, $PFADS_{C{+}{+}}$ R4 based on Power Flow Finite Element Method (PFFEM) and the noise prediction software, $NASPFA_{C{+}{+}}$ R1 based on Power Flow Boundary Element Method (PFBEM) are developed. In this paper, the coupling equation which represents relation between structural energy and acoustic energy is developed for vibro-acoustic coupling analysis. And vibro-acoustic coupling analysis software based on PFA and coupling equation is developed. Developed software is composed of translator, cavity-finder, solver and post-processor over all. Translator can translate FE model into PFADS FE model and cavity-finder can automatically make NASPFA BE model from PFADS FE model for noise analysis. The solver module calculates the structural energy density, intensity of structures, the fictitious source on the boundary and the acoustic energy density at the field in acoustic cavities. Some applications of vibro-acoustic coupling analysis software to various structures and cruise ship are shown with reliable results.

  • In company with the demand of powerful processing units for embedded systems, the method to develop embedded software is also required to support the demand in new approach. In order to improve the resource utilization and system performance, software modeling techniques have to consider the features of hardware architecture. This paper proposes a partitioning technique of UML-based software models, which focus the generation of the allocatable software components into multiprocessor architecture. Our partitioning technique, at first, transforms UML models to CBCFGs(Constraint-Based Control Flow Graphs), and then slices the CBCFGs with consideration of parallelism and data dependency. We believe that our proposition gives practical applicability in the areas of platform specific modeling and performance estimation in model-driven embedded software development.

  • Product Line Engineering (PLE) has been widely accepted as a representative software reuse methodology by using core assets. Product line architecture (PLA) is a key element of core assets. However, current research works on designing PLA do not provide sufficient and detailed guidelines of defining PLA and reflecting variability in the architecture. In this paper, we present a reference model of PLA and propose a process to design PLA with detailed instructions. Especially architectural variability is codified by describing decision model depending variation points and traced through PLA activities. The proposed process would make it feasible to apply PLE to practice areas.

  • The avionics industry has recently adopted an open architecture to increase software portability and reduce the development schedule and cost associated with changing hardware equipment. This paper presents a data modeling method compliant with FACE, a widely used open avionics architecture. A FACE data model is designed and implemented to output data from VOR/ILS avionics equipment. A FACE Conformance Test Suite (CTS) program is utilised to verify that the data model meets FACE standards. The proposed data modeling method is expected to improve the development schedule and cost associated with modifying communication methods and ICDs (Interface Control Documents).

  • Influential trend that widely reflected the software engineering industry is service oriented architecture. Vendors are migrating towards cloud environment to benefit their organization. Companies usually offer products and services with a goal to solve problems at customer end. Because customers are more interested in solution of their problem rather than focusing on products or services. In software industry the approach in which customers' problems are solved by providing services is known as software as a service. However, software development life cycle encounters enormous changes when migrating software from product model to service model. Enough research has been done on the overall development process but a limited work has been done on the factors that influence requirements elicitation process. This paper focuses on those changes that influence requirement elicitation process and proposes a systematic methodology for transformation of software from product to service model in a successful manner. The paper then elaborates the benefits that inherently come along with elicitation process in cloud environment. The paper also describes the problems during transformation. The paper concludes that requirement engineering process turn out to be more profitable after transformation of traditional software from product to service model.

  • It is important issue for software architects to estimate performance of software in the early phase of the development process due to the need to verify non-functional requirements and estimation of performance in various stages of architectural design. In order to analyze performance of software, there are many approaches to translate software architecture represented by Unified Modeling Language, into analytical models. However, in the development of agent-based systems, these approaches ignore or simplify the crucial details of the underlying performance of the agent platform. In this paper, we propose performance prediction methodology for agent based system using formal semantic descriptions, and then, we transform the descriptions into queuing network model which model reflects performance of hardware and software platform. We prove the accuracy of proposed methodology using prototype implementation. The accuracy is summarized at 80%.

  • In this paper, we present an automated API translator for embedded software development based on a model-driven approach. Since MDA(Model Driven Architecture) provides little support for the development of embedded software, we propose a new method which contains the MDA's advantage, automation of implement process, and can solve the problem of real-time overhead. First, we define 'generic APIs' which do not depend on any RTOS's but provide most of typical RTOS services. We can describe RTOS-related behaviors of target application using these generic APIs in a CIC(Common Intermediate Code). Then, we propose a transformation tool for translating a CIC using generic APIs into a C-code for specific RTOS. The proposed API translator converts them into C-code using XML transformation rule which is defined outside. It indicates that an API translator extends to other RTOS's by modifying or adding the transformation rule. From the experiment, we validate the proposed method.

  • Self-healing is one of the techniques that assure dependability of mission-critical system. Self-healing consists of fault detection and fault recovery and fault detection is important first step that enables fault recovery but it causes overhead. We can detect fault based on model, the detection tasks that notify system's behavior and compare normal behavior model and system's behavior are heavy jobs. In this paper, we propose architecture-based multi-level self-adaptive monitoring method that complements model-based fault detection. The priority of fault detection per component is different in the software architecture. Because the seriousness and the frequency of fault per component are different. If the monitor is adapted to intensive to the component that has high priority of monitoring and loose to the component that has low priority of monitoring, the overhead can be decreased and the efficiency can be maintained. Because the environmental changes of software and the architectural changes bring the changes at the priority of fault detection, the monitor learns the changes of fault frequency and that is adapted to intensive to the component that has high priority of fault detection.

  • Patient Navigation Program (PNP) is considered as an important implementation of health care systems that can assist in patient's treatment. Due to the feasibility of PNP implementation, a systematic reuse is needed for a wide adoption of PNP computerized system. SPL is one of the promising systematic reuse approaches for creating a reusable architecture to enabled reuse in several similar applications of PNP systems which has its own variations with other applications. However, stakeholder decision making which result from the imprecise, uncertain, and subjective nature of architecture selection based on quality attributes (QA) further hinders the development of the product line architecture. Therefore, this study aims to propose a quality-driven approach using Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) techniques for Software Product Line Architecture (SPLA) to have an objective selection based on the QA of stakeholders in the domain of PNP. There are two steps proposed to this approach. First, a clear representation of quality is proposed by extending feature model (FM) with QA feature to determine the QA in the early phase of architecture selection. Second, MCDA techniques were applied for architecture selection based on objective preference for certain QA in the domain of PNP. The result of the proposed approach is the implementation of the PNP system with SPLA that had been selected using MCDA techniques. Evaluation for the approach is done by checking the approach's applicability in a case study and stakeholder validation. Evaluation on ease of use and usefulness of the approach with selected stakeholders have shown positive responses. The evaluation results proved that the proposed approach assisted in the implementation of PNP systems.

  • A convergence software development methodology based on product line engineering provides an architecture model for application development and it also provides workflow as a behavior specification of control component development to develop transaction centric application. To effect a change on software development based on product line engineering it has to be supported by a tool. But almost workflow modeling tools dose not support product line engineering concept. So we need new workflow modeling tool to support the convergence software development methodology. In this paper, we introduce a toolset for workflow modeling that consists of eclipse plug-in applications and open source tool and describe the relationships of tools through example.
