태양전지용 TCO(Transfer Conductivity Oxide)는 가시광선 영역에서 높은 광 투과도(optical transmittance), 낮은 저항(resistivity), 우수한 박막 표면 거칠기(roughness) 등의 특성이 요구된다. 현재 가장 많이 사용되는 투명전극은 ITO(Indium Tin Oxide)가 보편적이다. MOCVD(Metal-Organic chemical vapor deposition)로 Soda lime glass 기판위에 약 900nm의 두께로 증착한 BZO(Boron-zinc-oxide)박막을 수소 플라즈마 처리공정을 한 뒤 산소 플라즈마를 이용하여 재처리 하였다.
Thin films of the SiO2-TiO2-PDMS composite material have been prepared by the sol-gel dip coating method. Acid catalyzed solutions of tetraethoxy silane (TEOS) and polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) mixed with titanium isopropoxide Ti(OiPr) were used as precursors. The optical and structural properties of the organically modified 70SiO2-30TiO2 composite films have been investigated with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and prism coupling technique. The films coated on the soda-lime-silicate glass exhibit 450-750 nm thickness, 1.56-1.68 refractive index and 88-94% transmittance depending on the experimental parameters such as amount of PDMS, thermal treatment and heating rate. The optical loss of prepared composite film was measured to be about 0.34 dB/cm.
Soil respiration was measured every two weeks from May through November 1995 using the soda lime method in 40-Year-old Pinus rigida and Larix leptolepis plantations on a similar soil in Yangpyeong, Kyonggi Province. Treatments included control and no-roots(plots trenched and root regrowth into plots prevented). Root respiration was evaluated by comparing no-roots sub-plots to control plots. Mean soil respiration showed highly significant species effects(p<0.01) and was highest at the Pinus rigida control plot($0.38g/m^2/hr$) and lowest at the Larix leptolepis no-roots plot($0.31g/m^2/hr$). High soil respiration in Pinus rigida may be related to aboveground litter production. The annual $CO_2$ fluxes ranged from 23 to 27t/ha/yr. We found significant correlations between temperatures(air : $R^2$=0.53, soil : $R^2$=0.55) and soil respiration(p<0.01), but no significant correlations between soil moisture and soil respiration(p>0.1). Root respiration was 3% of total soil respiration. We might underestimate rapt respiration because of shallow trenches and $CO_2$measurements right after trenching. Factors controlling soil respiration including belowground litterfall(especially fine roots) inputs, litter quality should be well understood to predict soil carbon fluxes and relative contributions to total soil respiration in forest ecosystems.
Photo-reactive $TiO_2$ thin films on soda-lime-silica slide glass were prepared by spin coating technique with a Ti-naphthenate precursor. Optical, structural and photo-catalytic properties of the films after annealing at $500^{\circ}C{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ were evaluated. As increase with annealing temperature, absorption bands and total transmittance of the films showing an average transmittance (about 80%) at visible spectra range were shifted to UV spectra range and slightly decreased. Refractive index and thickness of the films were increased from 2.16 to 2.63 and decreased from 484 nm to 439 nm, respectively, with increase of annealing temperature. Anatase phase was visible at all annealing temperature. More rougher surface structure was obtained at $600^{\circ}C$ than those of films annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$. The hydrophilic conversion was found within 45 min by UV stimulation and optical activation was UVC>UVA>UVB at the case of $500^{\circ}C{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ and UVA>UVC>UVB at the annealing temperature of $600^{\circ}C$. The lowest initial contact angle was obtained at $600^{\circ}C$.

The pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness could be adjusted by $CO_2$, $Ca(OH)_2$, and $Na_2CO_3$ addition in the water treatment process for corrosion protection of the water pipes. This research was performed to investigate the effect on the variation of water quality on the unit process by addition $CO_2$, $Ca(OH)_2$, and $Na_2CO_3$ in water treatment process. Carbon dioxide and lime were added before the coagulation basin and soda ash was added after the BAC process. pH and aklainity were increased at coagulation basin then after the water qualities had sustained similiarly to BAC process. There was no effect on turbidity and DOC removal efficiency during experimental period by addition\ $CO_2$, $Ca(OH)_2$, and $Na_2CO_3$ solution was added into clear well, the last process for optimum control of CCPP and is used mainly to control pH and alkalinity. In this research, average pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness in treated water were 8.39, 61.4 mg/L as $CaCO_3$, 59.4 mg/L as $CaCO_3$, respectively and CCPP of treated water was higher than 29.5 mg/L to BAC process water, so adjusted water was expected to prevent internal corrosion of water pipe.
Purpose: A simple and efficient method to prepare nanocrystalline ZnO thin film with pure strong UV emission on soda-lime-silica glass substrates by low-temperature annealing was improved. Methods: Crystal structural, surface morphological, and optical characteristics of nanocrystalline ZnO thin films deposited on soda-lime-silica glass substrates by prefiring final annealing process at 300$^{\circ}C$ were investigated by using X-ray diffraction analysis, field emission-scanning electron microscope, scanning probe microscope, ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectrophotometer, and photoluminescence. Results: Highly c-axis-oriented ZnO films were obtained by prefiring at 300$^{\circ}C$. A high transmittance in the visible spectra range and clear absorption edge in the ultra violet range of the film was observed. The PL spectrum of ZnO thin film with a deep near band edge emission was observed while the defect-related broad green emission was nearly quenched. Conclusions: Our work will be possibly adopted to cheaply and easily fabricate ZnO-based optoelectronic devices at low temperature, below 300$^{\circ}C$, in the future.

$PbTiO_3$ thin films were prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glasses, Si-wafer and sapphire substrate by the dip-coating of precursor solution. As starting materials, titanium tetra iso-propoxide and lead acetate trihydrate were used. Then acetylacetone was added to prepare stable sol. The effect of the parameters such as viscosity and composition of sol were investigated. The optical transmittance at visible range, refractive index, IR spectra were measured in varying compositions, thickness and heat treatment temperature. The crystallization of $PbTiO_3$ films were measured by using XRD and SEM. Diffusion of compositions from slide glass to thin film were investigated by using EDX, too. These sols not precipitated for 20 days. Transmittance of $PbTiO_3$ films at visible range were decreased with the increase of thickness and heat treatment temperatures, and were exhibited flat spectra. Pyrochlore type appeared in the films on slide glass and perovskite type appeared in the films on Si-wafer or sapphire at $600^{\circ}C$. Perovskite crystals transformed to $PbTi_3O_7$ phase at $800^{\circ}C$.

$Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ is a candidate material for the top cell of $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ tandem cells. This phase is often found at the surface of the $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ film during $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ cell fabrication, and plays a positive role in $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ cell performance. However, the exact properties of the $Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ film have not been extensively studied yet. In this work, $Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ films were fabricated on Mo-coated soda-lime glass substrates by a three-stage co-evaporation process. The Cu content in the film was controlled by varying the deposition time of each stage. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy analyses showed that, even though the stoichiometric Cu/(In+Ga) ratio is 0.25, $Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ is easily formed in a wide range of Cu content as long as the Cu/(In+Ga) ratio is held below 0.5. The optical band gap of $Cu_{0.3}(In_{0.65}Ga_{0.35})_3Se_5$ composition was found to be 1.35eV. As the Cu/(In+Ga) ratio was decreased further below 0.5, the grain size became smaller and the band gap increased. Unlike the $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ solar cell, an external supply of Na with $Na_2S$ deposition further increased the cell efficiency of the $Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ solar cell, indicating that more Na is necessary, in addition to the Na supply from the soda lime glass, to suppress deep level defects in the $Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ film. The cell efficiency of $CdS/Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ was improved from 8.8 to 11.2% by incorporating Na with $Na_2S$ deposition on the CIGS film. The fill factor was significantly improved by the Na incorporation, due to a decrease of deep-level defects.
The characteristics and composition of the ancient glasses excavated at Songdong-ri, Sangju, Kyongsangbuk-do were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscope attached with Energy Dispersive Spectrometer. As the results, the glass beads of Songdong-ri showed that there were changed the composition, the color and types according to the periods. There were appeared potash and soda glass group at A.D.4 century and potash and mixed alkali glass group at A.D. 17 century. The potash glasses of A.D. 4c. were colored blue and contained low $Al_2O_3$ and CaO composition as below $5\%$. The soda glasses of This period were colored blue and red, and contained $Al_2O_3$ composition as upper $5\%$. But the potash glasses of A.D.17c. showed the transparent yellow color and considerably higher CaO, $11.7\%$. 'Coil glasses' typed unique were colored yellow-brown, Cu-blue and colorless, were classified the mixed alkali glass as upper $5\%\;of\;Na_2O\;and\;K_2O$. The composition of coil glasses were presented first at this study.
Numerous abandoned or closed mines are present in the steep mountain valleys in Korea due to the depression of the mining industry since the late 1980s. From the mines, enormous amounts of wastes were dumped on the slopes causing sedimentation and acid mine drainage to be discharged directly into streams causing detrimental effects on surrounding environment. Objective of this research was to evaluate the feasibility of the lime cake by-product from the soda ash production (Solvay process) to neutralize the pyrophyllite mine wastes, which have discharged the acid drainage to soil and stream in the watershed. The pH of mine wastes was strongly acidic at pH 3.67 containing over 16% of $Al_2O_3$ and 11% of $Fe_2O_3$. Whereas the lime cake by-product was strongly basic at pH 9.97 due to high contents of CaO, MgO and $CaCl_2$ as major components. Column experiments were conducted to test the neutralizing capacity of the lime cake by-product for the acidic pyrophyllite mine wastes. The column packed with the wastes (control) was treated with the lime cake by-product, calcium carbonate, the dressing soil or combination. The distilled water was eluted statically through the column and the leachate was collected for the chemical analyses. Treatments of the mine wastes with the lime cake by-product (or calcium carbonate) as mixtures increased pH of the leachate from $3.5{\sim}4.0\;to\;7{\sim}8$. Concentrations of Fe and Al in the leachate were also decreased below 1.0 mg $L^{-1}$. A Similar result was observed at the combined treatments of the mine waste, the lime by-product (or calcium carbonate) and the dressing soil. The results indicated that the lime cake by-product could sufficiently neutralize the acid drainage from the pyrophyllite mine wastes without dressing soils.
