  • Methodology and application of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for policies, plans, and programs are still new approach in Vietnam. With a support from Vietnam-Swedish Project (SEMLA) and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), SEA for the Tonkin Gulf Coastal Economic Belt Development Plan was conducted in 2008. Lessons obtained from this SEA may contribute to improving methods and practicing SEAs for regional development. The main lessons summarized in this paper are: (i) close cooperation between the planning and environmental teams from the beginning phase of a master plan; (ii) SEA should focus not only on impacts to the natural environment but also on main issues of socio-economic aspects; (iii) approaches and methods used in SEA should be appropriate to properly predict the impacts at regional-levels and cumulative impacts; (iv) a good SEA study may be achieved when detailed data on the environment and socio-economy of the study area are available and have active engagement of stakeholders, including project affected sectors, ecologists, planners, policy makers, etc. This paper is useful for whom, those work in SEA in regional development.

The survey data was 36 wills published in the media such as newspapers and broadcasting between 2008 and 2020. As a result, various aspects of negative factors were found in youth wills between the ages of 13 and 34. In middle-aged wills between the ages of 35 and 49, female was not found. The negative factors in the socio-economic aspects were remarkable in the wills of adulthood between the ages of 50 and 64. All the writers of wills over the age of 65 were women, and their writings were strongly linked to the spiritual side. In view of these results, the will explored in this study can paradoxically become a proposal for a complete life. The will is a record with the potential of well aging. Sources of the suicide note included daily newspaper, broadcasting and local media. This study analyse the age and gender and the negative factors reflected in the will, by using the physical aspect, the mental aspect, and the socio-economic aspect as the methodology. In addition, the frequency of words and expressions exposed in the will were analyzed and keywords were created in word cloud.

Approximately 80% of the development area was concentrated in 20% of total sand dune several sand dune. It is generally accepted that coastal sand dunes were exposed high development pressure. However the result means that the general brief dose not apply for all sand dune. Therefore, characteristics of each sand dune should be analyzed and concerned the diverse management plans.

  • This study was carried out to identify variables related to morbidity perceived by residents who lived in an urban poor community in Seoul city, to analyze correlation between varibles and morbidity, and to find out factors related to the morbidity. Chi-square test, t-test, Pearson's C. C., and factor analysis were employed in this study. The factors labelled by this study are family expenses, housing environment, consumption level, and health care. It may be concluded that a morbidity pattern in specific communicty is strongly associated with socio-economic factors as we observe it at macro level. If the conclusion is acceptable, the health care system should pay attention to reducing the incidence itself through controlling socio-economic aspects of the community and should be reoriented. In this context, the primary health care approach which World Health Organization has advocated can be justified.

  • The purposes of the research in related to FSC in JuJe experimental forests (JJEFs) is to make pre and post socio-economic comparisons and play an important role of FSC, and recognition change to FSC timbers and to make an analysis to consumers' needs. As the results of onsite survey in 2005, respondents show a high awareness of SFM and FSC in comparisons of 2004, and the JJEFs play a critical role to make SFM and FSC advertisement worldwide, such as consumers' satisfaction to SFM and FSC is high. Hence provision of JJEF information such as job creation and socio-economic impacts to stockholders could make their satisfaction improving. Most of respondents to the FSC of JJEF represent a positive rate while low awareness to FSC timber is represented. Therefore, necessary information about JJEF FSC with forest management, process and consumption pattern of FSC is required into citizens. The final results prove that FSC effects such as 1.3 billion won direct additional benefits in terms of socio-economic aspects including environmental benefits and job creation and economic effects are enough to offset 1.3 billion won additional costs.

Research design, data, and methodology: Residential environment analysis was reviewed by dividing it into physical, socio-cultural, economic, environmental, and policy aspects. Results: Pyongyang are considerably superior due to it being the residence of the country's leadership and middle class. Secondly, there is a concerning problem with the provision of substandard housing. Construction materials are in short supply, and unreasonable timelines often lead to uninhabitable houses, signaling a need for assistance in housing construction. Thirdly, there is a severe lack of essential residential infrastructure, such as reliable electricity and clean water supply, which significantly impacts the quality of life. Lastly, due to the country's economic hardships, basic housing rights are not guaranteed, leading to deplorable living conditions for many North Koreans. The report suggests that these issues should be addressed through international aid to guarantee the basic human rights of North Koreans. Conclusions: In North Korea, the poor living environment deteriorates the health and quality of life of citizens and adversely affects social and economic development. Therefore, international support and cooperation to improve the living environment of North Koreans is important.

  • Purpose - While microfinance institutions(MFIs) from Bangladesh, such as Grameen Bank, received worldwide recognition and the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, however, there is a paucity of research that provided a comprehensive discussion on the characteristics of the microfinance industry. Hence, the aim of this paper is to discuss some important aspects of the microfinance sector in Bangladesh. Research design, data, and methodology - This study used secondary sources of data, such as annual reports of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) and the World Bank database in its descriptive analysis. Results - This study found that Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in her socio-economic and economic development in the last few decades. It is also generally perceived that microfinance has placed significant contribution on such socio-economic development. While microfinance observed unprecedented growth domestically, however, the regulatory framework is still rather weak, and a majority of the MFIs are found to be concentrated in the well-off areas (e.g., Dhaka, Chittagong etc.). Conclusions - The findings are significantly important for the parties who are interested to know the microfinance sector in Bangladesh. To some extent, the findings of this study will provide policy implications that may benefit the industry.
