  • This study was carried out to explore the actual condition of family-friendly education of corporations and organizations supporting them for the purpose of activating the family-friendly certification system. The researches on the family-friendly education of corporations or related organizations have not become an object of attention, although the policies of family-friendly corporations have been the major concern of researchers who have conducted studies on the balancing between work and family. For the first time, this study investigated the family-friendly education programs of corporations and organizations supporting them. In addition to this work, interviews with laborers were performed to learn the actual participation in the education. The results showed that even corporations selected as excellent corporations by the government scarcely provided family-friendly educations and few laborers participated in them. The most educations provided by corporations were for the improvement of work ability or job training. Education for family concentrated only on the role of the father. The focus of educations supporting corporations was biased to the view of corporation or family, not balanced between the two. So it was suggested that researchers should pay attention to developing diverse education programs encompassing the whole stages of life cycle and the balancing between corporation and family.

The purpose is to investigate the current situation and improvement plan of the social work field practicum. A qualitative analysis was conducted with 11 professors who have instructed the social work field practicum at cyber universities. The social work field practicum based on the experiences of the professors is investigated, and this paper analyzes the status according to students, schools, practitioners, and institutions. In order to improve the quality of the social work field practicum, factors for improvement were analyzed through the efforts of students, schools, the Korean social workers' association, institutional improvements, and social welfare instructors. The results of the study are as follows. Students, schools, and training organizations should recognize the importance of the social work field practicum and must strive for systematic and consistent education. It is also important to remember that a social worker is not a professional with simple qualifications, but an expert with a philosophy, values, and ideologies. The direction for improvement in the social work field practicum is as follows. When constructing a social welfare curriculum, the school should have a realistic curriculum and teaching method that can enhance the sense of the field. The student should not be qualified as a social worker only as a vague investment for the future, but should have the professional ability to serve clients as a social worker and to give professional help to clients, considering the best welfare service for human beings. Institutions should provide a place for students to integrate theory and practice in vital social welfare experiences as social workers. The Republic of Korea is now facing an age with one million social workers. In order to open the future of social welfare in Korea, we need united endeavors with government that can develop students as pre-social workers and establish universities, institutions, and their systems for a substantial social work field practicum.

  • In aging Korean society, many elderly people have difficulty in the areas of health, economic insecurity, role-loss(both work & spouse), loneliness, and family conflicts. Above all, retirement from work is one of the most important stressful life events having influences an elderly's persons economic & social activities, mental state, health status, and Lifelong educational programs could help the aged cope with these situations in later life. Health and social welfare are commonly recognized as an important value of life. They also have an effect on each other. Most people agree that the promotion of health and social welfare is to take a short-cut toward achieving well-being. Thus we need to develop a substantially integrated program of lifelong education, before and after retirement, for the promotion of health and welfare. Universities have the advantage of practicing lifelong educational programs because they have more material, intellectual, and human resources than any other educational facilities. As a result, the purposed of this study is to suggest life-long educational programs for promoting both health conditions and the level of social welfare by utilizing an aging center affiliated with a university. Specifically, the developmental courses of pre-retirement, learning in retirement, elder-hostels, and the connection between pre and post-retirement educational programs are proposed in this study.

  • Background: The risk observatory (RO) of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) provides strategic support to the German Social Accident Insurance Institutions (GSAII) in proactive prevention. It does so by identifying future challenges and opportunities for occupational safety and health (OSH) resulting from new trends and developments that affect employees as well as children in elementary education, pupils, and students. Methods: The core of the RO is an online survey that relies on a pool of new trends and developments identified via internet and literature research. 865 prevention experts of the GSAII and the DGUV participated in the survey. They rated trends and developments regarding their sector-specific risks and opportunities for OSH in the 5 years to come. Results: Sector-specific and over-all results show that besides well-known OSH risks such as musculoskeletal stress and noise, developments relevant for OSH come to the fore that do not have their origin in work itself, but are strongly influenced by political, social, economic, environmental, or technical developments that accident insurance can only peripherally influence. Shortage of skilled staff was identified as a threat to OSH in almost all sectors. Conclusions: Prevention must find ways to address repercussions of such OSH risks. Cooperation and political awareness are therefore gaining in importance. Also, implementing a prevention culture in society and strengthening individuals' health and safety literacy, e.g., by target-group-specific communication and sensitization, as well as early safety and health education, help to counteract those OSH risks.
