This study examines the relationship between intergenerational financial resource transfers and preparation for later life among the middle-aged. The study sample consists of 1536 middle-aged individuals with at least one living parent and one married child. The level of preparation for later life is dependent upon the level of household economic status. The statistically significant variables predicting the level of preparation for later life include age, education, subjective health status, household income and household assets. Moreover, intergenerational resource transfers are statistically significant factors that explain the level of preparation for later life. The effect of financial transfers from middle-aged parents to their adult children on the level of preparation for later life is the most significant financial transfer variable.
Purpose: In this study, we would like to confirm that the transfer of young workers may be a means of enhancing their internal satisfaction, not to get a better job, by setting work-related characteristics that are highly relevant to job-related factors. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, preparation for turnover was set as dependent variables to identify factors related to the turnover of young people, and the type of business, employment type, debt status, job satisfaction, job difficulty compared to education level, job difficulty, job degree, job major agreement, debt status, and other demographic social characteristics were selected as independent variables. Results: The characteristics related to personal criteria in job-seeking process were significant in the form of business, employment type, job satisfaction, work difficulty compared to the level of education, work difficulty compared to the level of technology, job major matching, and debt status. Conclusions: This study confirmed that young people's turnover may not simply be a means to get a better job, but to increase satisfaction in the internal aspects of their jobs, and that for young people, a job is an important development process that represents their identity and needs to be approached from a life-cycle perspective.
This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relation between participation behavior and career preparation behavior in adolescents. Using the data of 1,077 adolescents residing in J region, this study used the path analysis to see the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy. According to the results, participation behavior and career decision-making self-efficacy had direct effects on career preparation behavior. And mediated by career decision-making self-efficacy, participation behavior had indirect effect on career preparation behavior. This study examined the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy of adolescents, which can be the significance of this study in terms of overcoming the limit of presenting direct effects of factors on career preparation behavior. On the basis of the results, convergency suggestions to increase the participation behavior, career decision-making self-efficacy and career preparation behavior of adolescents were discussed.

This study is a study to empirically verify the mediating effect on college life adaptation and career preparation behavior of college students. The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the multi-mediated effects of major satisfaction, job stress, and self-directed learning. For this study, 216 university students were enrolled. For the collected data, SPSS Process macro was used. The result is as follows. First, there were multiple parallel mediating effects and multiple serial mediating effects on major satisfaction, job stress, and self-directed learning between college life adaptability and career preparation behavior. Second, the path of simple mediation and double mediation effect was found between college life adaptation and career preparation behavior. Based on the research, the necessity of revitalizing the program for revitalization of teaching activities and industry-academic cooperation activities in the major field and improvement of career preparation behavior and university life adaptation ability and follow-up research were suggested.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of family characteristics of the baby boomer generation on the level of their later life preparation. This study randomly sampled a birth cohort between 1955 and 1963 consisting of participants living in Seoul, South Korea with a spouse and a child/children. This study investigated a total of 455 subjects from March 2 to March 20, 2016. The study findings are summarized as follows. This study analyzed the characteristics of baby boomers' family relationships and their effects on their later life preparation. It was found that 55.4% of the subjects had at least 2 children, and 44.6% had 1 child. Concerning their children's marital status, 33.8% had married children and 66.2% had unmarried children. The level of their children's support was found at 2.82 points (standard deviation [SD] = .64), which is slightly higher than the mean value of 2.5. The spouse satisfaction among the subjects was found to be 3.59 (.79) which is higher than the mean value of 3. The general status of later life preparation was 2.70 (SD = .44), which is lower than the mean value of 3. In the sub-dimension, the level of social preparation was 2.98 points (SD = .61); the level of economic preparation was 2.60 (SD = .64); and the level of physical preparation was 2.53 (SD = .45). All the values were lower than the mean value of 3. The overall status of later life preparation of the subjects in this study was low. The physical preparation level was particularly low. To analyze the factors that affect baby boomers' later life preparation, a hierarchical regression analysis was implemented. As a result, a significant effect was found in specific factors, such as spouse satisfaction (${\beta}$ = .32, p < .001), age (${\beta}$ = .26, p < .001), number of children (${\beta}$ = -.18, p <.001), health status (${\beta}$ = .18, p < .001), gender (${\beta}$ = -.11, p < .05), household income (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05), and children's marital status (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05). That is, the higher the spousal satisfaction, the older the age, and the lower the number of children, the higher the levels of later life preparation. Further, a higher level of later life preparation was observed in women, those with higher household incomes, and those with married children.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the need for the preparation of old age of dental hygienists and happy life. Methods: This study is a descriptive study. A self-reported questionnaire in Likert 5 scale was completed by the dental hygienists in Korea through online report or written report from December, 2012 to June, 2013. Except incomplete answers, 200 data were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions of preparation for old age and awareness for old ages, 9 questions of physical preparation, and 9 questions of emotional preparation. Cronbach's alpha of old age preparation and awareness of old age was 0.634 in the study. Cronbach's alpha was 0.709 and 0.757 in physical preparation and emotional preparation, respectively. The final analyses of 200 copies were conducted using SPSS 11.5 software for Windows(SPSS Inc., Chicago, lllinois, USA). Results: Awareness toward preparation for old age of dental hygienists was 3.72 points, physical preparation was 2.94 points, and emotional preparation was 2.91 points. Awareness toward preparation for old age of dental hygienists showed the relationship between birth date, marital status, education level, and subjective health condition. Physical preparation was closely related to birth date, marital status, education level, and the workplace. Emotional preparation was closely related to birth date, marital status, education level, and the workplace. Conclusions: This study suggested that preparation for old age of dental hygienists was very important and the preparation must be connected with the social welfare policy.

Purpose: This study examined the characteristics of preparation to perform activities of suicide prevention according to professional type. Methods: A structural survey was conducted from Dec. 10, 2012 to Jan. 4, 2013 for 355 participants working at suicide prevention institutions in S city. The data were analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Self-evaluation knowledge of characteristics was a significant distance depending on education and economic status. Participants were classified according to four groups based on professional type; public health nurse, social worker, fire officer, and administrative staff. Significant differences in experiences in suicide, the several items of self-evaluation knowledge, and the preparation to perform activities of suicide prevention were observed according to professional type (p<.05). Correlation among the experience, self-evaluation knowledge and preparation to perform activities of suicide prevention showed a positive correlation in public health nurse, social worker, and administrative staff (p<.05). In all professional types, the variable that predicted preparation to perform activities of suicide prevention was self-evaluation knowledge (p<.001). Conclusion: Tailor-made suicide prevention programs that affect changes in preparation to perform activities of suicide prevention should be developed by professional types.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and the view of the afterlife of the elderly by focusing on mediating effects of positive satisfaction and death preparation. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of the rest of life and contributes as exploratory research toward strengthening the psychological and emotional well-being of the elderly. After using a structural equation model, we found that self-esteem influenced their view of the afterlife through mediating effects such as positive satisfaction and the level of death preparation. The results of this study will present not only in recovering from death anxiety through an understanding of the level of death preparation and, the view of the afterlife but also in the development of practical intervention materials, which can be useful in social work for the elderly. The elderly's view of the afterlife should be strengthened according to the educational programs on death preparation that deal with the existence of the afterlife and life after death. However, this study has the limitation that only people living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and not in the other areas of the country were considered in this research. Nevertheless, within its limitation, this study's findings are promising, as they contribute to our understanding of the view of life and death of the elderly; further, the study has academic meaning with respect to helping the elderly successfully carry out their life development tasks and significantly prepare for the rest of their life.
Purpose. The purpose of this study was to identify the stage of change of smoking cessation behavior and investigate factors associated with the stage of smoking cessation behavior according to the transtheoretical model. Methods. The participants, 297 smokers & quitters were selected by a stratified random sampling from 127 high school sophomore students in B city. Data were collected from April 6th to 16th, in 2002 using the structured self-report questionnaire. Results. The subjects were distributed in each stage of change of smoking cessation behavior: there were 46 subjects (15.5%) in precontemplation, 73 subjects (24.6%) in contemplation, 67 subjects(22.3%) in preparation, 56 subjects (18.5%) in action, 55 subjects (18.5%) in maintenance. Compared to the precontemplation and contemplation, people in preparation tended to smoke daily more and smoked for a shorter time, and as precontemplation progressed to the maintenance, past 1 year smoking cessation frequency increased and friends smoking decreased. Smoking onset age was the earliest in preparation, and the latest in maintenance. Helping relationships and self relationships are used a lot in precontemplation and also in contemplation. In preparation, self liberation and helping relationships are used a lot, in action, self liberation and helping relationships, and in maintenance, self liberation and environmental reevaluation. At each stage, the score of negative affect situation was the highest, but the one of negative affect situation, positive social situation, habitual strength, weight control decreased as precontemplation progressed to the maintenance. While the score of social pros and coping pros decreased with increasing stage, the one of cons tended to increase. Through stepwise discriminant analysis, it was found that social pros, smoking onset age, delf-libration were the most influencing powers among factors associated with the stages of smoking cessation behavior. Conclusions. This study suggested that, in developing an effective smoking cessation intervention for adolescents, all the stage of a client's cessation had to be assessed prior to applying intervention programs. In addition, the results of this study will become a pillar of smoking cessation program planning and application.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of volunteering on career decision level and career preparation behavior of the university students majoring in social welfare. For this purpose, a survey of 208 university students in Kangwon-do was conducted and the data was analyzed. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The career decision level of the university students majoring in social welfare is 2.65, and career preparation behavior is 2.28. By using a multiple regression, volunteering satisfaction and participation activeness had a positive effect on the career decision level, and grade and volunteering satisfaction had a positive effect on the career preparation behavior. This study finally discussed theoretical and practical implications for university student's volunteer strategies on the results.
