The changing trend of longevity from 1955 through 1985 and its interprovincal variation were studied with longevity rate as indicator. In order to detect the affecting factors of longevity rate, eleven urbanalizational, geographic-environmental, demographic and social-economic variables were employed to carry out multiple stepwise regression analysis. The data used for this study were from Population Census Reports 1955-1985 published by EPB and Year book of Public Health and Social Statistics 1986 published by Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and other reference. Subsequent to that longevity rate decreased during 1950's it has increased continuously by the yeat of 1980's. This trend was especially remarkable in the south area and the GIRI mountain area in Korea. The stepwise regression analysis shows that the longevity rates were significantly associated with the independent variables, and the dependent variables explained at the level of 93.7percent-99.9 percent. Longevity is a reflection of the demographic and socio-economic, environmental and health resourses factor etc., longevity problems cannot be dealt with in isolation. The possible research and services which could be provided by government will be discuss.
The purpose of this study were to elicit the attitudes toward underwear, to compare the difference according to the demographic variables, and to find the relationship between the attitudes toward underwear and social-psychological characteristics of university female students in Cheongju city. The questionnaires were to measure the attitudes toward underwear, the demographic information, and social-psychological characteristics. As statistical analysis, frequencies, mean, t-test, F-test, factor analysis, and correlation were used. The results were as follows: 1) The female students regarded tactile sensation of underwear fabrics as the important element in their attitude toward underwear, while they showed a little interest about gorgeous underwear style. 2) The freshman students have strongly. fixed ideas about the under wear, the other(sophomore, junior, senior) students showed more interest in decorative and fashionable aspects of underwear. 3) The attitudes toward underwear were classifies into six factors; intension about high quality, decorative design, stereotype, immodesty, style and comfort. 4) There were partially significant differences according to demographic variables in the attitudes toward underwear. 5) Also, there were significant correlations between the social-psychological characteristics and the attitudes toward underwear.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the social-psycholigcal marital conflict contents and marital conflict degree and find out how socio-demographic variables had an effect on marital conflict. For these pourposes 265 couples in the early marriage stage in seoul were randomly selected. The data were analysed through statistical methods such as frequency percentile paired t-test F-test Scheffe-test factor analysis. The major finding of this study were as follows: First the main social-psychological marital conflict contents was the attitude or habit of life communication sexual life personality and intimacy. Second the degree of marital conflict was relatively low. Taking a look at each conflict fact wives was higher than husbands in the degree of the conflict in intimacy factor. Third among socio-demographic variables level of family income wife's education and marriage style had influences on the the marital conflict degree.
The study examined the characteristics of the relationship of home environment variables and children's social development. Two studies were conducted ; Study I examined (1) the correlation of home environment variables and children's social ability and (2) the predictability of home environment variables for children's social ability by children's age. Study II investigated the causal relationship among the variables which are supposed to affect children's social ability. The subjects of this study were 240 children at age four, six and eight attending nursery schools, kindergartens and elementary schools and their mothers. Instruments included the Inventory of Home Stimulation (HOME), the Inventory of Sociodemographic Variables, social maturation scale, and the social-emotional developmental rating scale. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1) Home environment variables had a positive correlation with children's social development at age four and six, but at age eight, only HOME variables had a significant positive correlation with children's social development. 2) The home environmental variables that significantly predicted children's social development differed according to children's age. That is, play materials, economic status of the home, and parent education were predictive of children's social development at age four, while parent's education, fostering maturity and independence, and play materials were predictive at age six. Fostering maturity and independence, aspects of physical environment, and economic status of the home were predictive at age eight. 3) The causal model of home environment effect on children's social development was formulated by exogenous variables (parent education and economic status of the home) and endogenous variables (direct stimulation, indirect stimulation and the emotional climate of the home). 4) The results of the analysis of the causal model showed that the variables that have a direct effect on children's social development differed according to children's age. That is, direct stimulation had more effect on children's social development at earlier ages, and indirect stimulation had more effect on children's social development at later ages. Among socio-demographic variables, parent's education was most closely related to children's social development. The amount of variance that explained children's social development decreased with increase in children's age.
We intend an empirical assessment of examining the differences in the appearance management behaviors and demographic variables among groups classified by the clothing consumption values. The questionnaires are administered to 493 female and male adults above 20 years old in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Daegu and Kyungpook regions. For analysis of data from 478 respondents, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, ANOVA, Duncan test and ${\chi}^2$ test were applied. We show the following results. First, Factor analyses were employed for the clothing consumption values and appearance management behaviors. Six factors were for clothing consumption values: Individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing consumption value. Four factors were for appearance management behaviors: weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. According to clothing consumption values, four groups were classified: the passive, functional, social, and active group. We did cluster analysis to the appearance management behaviors of weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. Second, the social and active groups were more interested in individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing value. And they were also more involved in appearance management behaviors. Third, among the demographic variables, the single and female in 20s and 30s with higher level of education belonged to the active group. In this contribution, we find significant differences in the appearance management behavior and demographic variables classified by the clothing consumption values.
The present study was to find out the differences of fathers' involvement in parenting, role satisfaction, and young children's social competence according to fathers' socio-demographic variables, and the relationships among fathers' involvement in parenting, role satisfaction and young children's social competence. The subjects of the study were 175 five-year-old children and their fathers from public kindergartens in Chongju, Jecheon, and Danyang. Questionnaires used in the study were the measures of father's involvement in parenting(Lee, 1999), role satisfaction(Cho, 1998), and young children's social competence(Han, 1997). Data were analyzed with frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, F-test, LSD post hoc test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS program. Results of the study were as follows: First, there were differences in father's involvement in parenting, role satisfaction, and young children's social competence according to father's level of education, job, and income. Second, there were significant positive correlations among father's involvement in parenting, role satisfaction, and young children's social competence.
The current study examined the effects of socio-demographic characteristics and peer relations on the emotional, behavioral, and comorbid disorder symptoms among low-low-SES children, using the Young Lives Survey: an International Study of Childhood Poverty: Round 1, 2002. Participants were 1,000 8-year-old children (502 boys and 498 girls) from low-low-SES families. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-tests, post hoc test (Scheffe's method), correlations, and multiple logistic regression analyses according to the analysis strategy. There was a moderate correlation between selected socio-demographic variables and emotional/behavioral disorder symptoms, and the caregiver's marital status, child's health compared to others, child's work status corresponded to significant differences in their emotional/behavior levels. Regarding the logistic regression analysis, in addition to the effects of socio-demographic variables reflecting the characteristics of less-developed countries, marital status, child's working status, and conflicts with peers proved to be detrimental to emotional, behavioral, or comorbid disorder symptoms in low-SES children, who have been lack quality parenting, social resources, and child human rights. Results indicated the need to develop health care services that would address those problems and appropriate intervention and prevention programs targeting children in low-income families. Moreover, careful assessment and intervention for child's health status, child's working status and peer relationship problems are suggested as possible strategies for helping children at risk of exhibiting further problematic behaviors.
The purpose of this research was to find out the most explainable variables influencing fashion leadership. This research was carried out by both the theoretical and empirical study. For the theoretical study, the research of fashion leadership was based on the fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The study included the analysis of variables influencing fashion leadership, such as clothing importance, clothing conformity, clothing anticonformity, perceived risk of clothing, use of fashion information source and demographic variables. For the empirical study, fashion leadership was measured by fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The variables influencing on the fashion leadership were measured by self-image, social participation, clothing behaviors(clothing importance, normative conformity, identificational conformity, clothing anticonformity, clothing independance), demographic variables(major fields of students, year of education, family income). Data were obtained from 335 female college and university students in Chung-Buk area by self-administered questionaire. The data collected through the questionaire were analyzed by the stastical thechique-stepwise regression. The results of the study were as follow: 44.6 percent of the total variance of fashion leadership was explained by the five variables: Clothing importance, use of marketer-dominated fashion information source, identificational conformity, traditional-modern self image and clothing anticonformity. Family income and the major fields of students are significantly related to the fashion leadership.

First, we did a cluster analysis on the appearance management behavior of weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. Four groups (passive, rational, fashion oriented, and active typed) where classified according to individual lifestyle. Second, the rational and active groups were more interested in the social life, environmental stability, health, fashion and economic seeking life. They were also more involved in appearance management behavior and in a higher level of life satisfaction. However, the differences of life satisfaction among the lifestyle group (male) were not statistically significant. Third, females with higher level of income and education (among the demographic variables) belonged to the active group. We found significant differences in appearance management behavior, life satisfaction and demographic variables among male and female groups classified by lifestyle.
In the 21st century, green consumer behavior, playing one of the core roles of sustainability, is still an important issue to green-related stakeholders. Because one of the major objectives of green-consumer research is an improvement of behaviors aligned with greening, this paper revisited socio-demographic variables and shed light on segmenting and profiling green consumers based on their connectedness between socio-demographic variables and green behaviors. Using correlations, factor analysis, analysis of variance, k-means cluster analysis and χ2-tests, this paper shows that socio-demographic variables differentially impact green-consumer behaviors. In order to profile green consumers, this paper additionally attempts to segment green-consumer groups. The results also coincide with former findings that socio-demographic variables relate significantly with segmented green-consumer group behaviors. General findings are summarized as: 1) older people used green practices more strongly than younger people, 2) females demonstrated better energy-saving and recycling practices compared to males, 3) marital status also significantly influenced green-related behaviors, 4) subjective social class had a significant influence on green-related behaviors, 5) education level and income, however, weakly influenced or showed no impact on green-related behaviors, and 6) a green consumer was classified as an 'active green consumer,' 'utilitarian green consumer,' or 'inactivated green consumer.' The utilitarian green consumer group distinctively behaved more strongly in energy-saving and recycling practices compared to the inactivated green consumer group, whereas active green consumers behaved more strongly on the whole, when compared to those in the inactivated green consumer group.
