A roller rig has been widely used in the study about dynamic stability and railway safety. However, the cost for constructing the roller rig and the difficulty in adjusting the design parameters for vehicle systems lead to the development of a small scale simulator which is cheaper than the large scale test systems and easy to control the parameters affecting dynamic characteristics of the railway vehicle. For the operation of the small scale test system called a small scale simulator, it is required to investigate the performance and characteristics of the system. This could be achieved by a comparative study between an analysis and an experiment. This paper presented the analytical model which could be used for verifying of the test results and understanding of the physical behavior of the dynamic system comprising the small scale bogie and the simulator.

Small-scale models have been frequently used for experimental evaluation of seismic performance because of limited testing facilities and economic reasons. However, there are not enough studies on similitude law for analogizing prototype structures accurately with small-scale models, although conventional similitude law based on geometry is not well consistent in the inelastic seismic behavior. When fabricating prototype and small-scale model of reinforced concrete structures by using the same material, added mass is demanded from a volumetric change and scale factor could be limited due to size of aggregate. Therefore, it is desirable that different material is used for small-scale models. Thus, a modified similitude law could be derived depending on geometric scale factor and equivalent modulus ratio. In this study, compressive strength tests are conducted to analyze equivalent modulus ratio of micro-concrete to normal-concrete. Equivalent modulus ratios are divided into elastic, weak nonlinear and strong nonlinear phases, which are based on ultimate strain level. Therefore, an algorithm adaptable to the pseudodynamic test, considering equivalent three phase similitude law based on seismic damage levels, is developed. In addition, prior to tile experiment, it is verified numerically if tile algorithm is applicable to the pseudodynamic test.
Small-scale reactors have recently attracted attention as a potential power generation source for the future. The Regional Energy Research Institute for Next Generation is currently developing a small-scale reactor called Regional Energy rX 10 MVA (REX-10). The current paper deals with a power system to be used with small-scale reactors for multi-purpose regional energy systems. This small nuclear system can supply electric and thermal energy like a co-generation system. The electrical model of the REX-10 has been developed as a part of the SCADA system. REX-10's dynamic and electromagnetic performance on the power system is analyzed. Simulations are carried out on a test system based on Ulleung Island's power system to validate REX-10 availability on a power system. RSCAD/RTDS and PSS/E software tools are used for the simulation.

The IHX (intermediate heat exchanger) of a VHTR (very high-temperature reactor) is a core component that transfers the high heat generated by the VHTR at $950^{\circ}C$ to a hydrogen production plant. Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute manufactured a small-scale prototype of a PCHE (printed circuit heat exchanger) that was being considered as a candidate for the IHX. In this study, as a part of high-temperature structural integrity evaluation of the small-scale PCHE prototype, we carried out high-temperature structural analysis modeling and macroscopic thermal and elastic structural analysis for the small-scale PCHE prototype under small-scale gas-loop test conditions. The modeling and analysis were performed as a precedent study prior to the performance test in the small-scale gas loop. The results obtained in this study will be compared with the test results for the small-scale PCHE. Moreover, these results will be used in the design of a medium-scale PCHE prototype.

This study was conducted to gain preliminary data for restoration and management of constructed small-scale ponds in paddy fields through analysis of their physicochemical and biological properties. A field survey was performed at 13 small-scale ponds located in paddy fields from August 2009 to October 2010. Structural properties, water quality, soil characteristics and fish fauna were measured. Results showed that small-scale ponds without frames might lose their function over time because of crumbling walls. Therefore, it is necessary for these ponds to have frames for soil protection and sustainable maintenance. Chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) concentration were higher than the water quality standard for agricultural water in small-scale ponds. In particular, TN concentration was 8.03 mg $L^{-1}$ and over 8 times the water quality standard because of the presence of livestock such as cows and pigs in the study areas. Sand, organic matter and available phosphorus contents of soil in small-scale ponds was 53.4${\pm}$16.6%, 21.8${\pm}$9.74 g $kg^{-1}$ and 12.8${\pm}$7.59 mg $kg^{-1}$, respectively indicating that sand and available phosphorus contents were suitable for plants in small-scale ponds, but organic matter contents was somewhat low in newly constructed small-scale ponds, and would take some time to stabilize for plant growing. Fish fauna was not diverse with only 4 species at all sites surveyed. Collected fishes share a common feature that they all inhabit paddy fields or canals with shallow water depth. In this study, all ponds were not linked to the streams and canals around them. It appears that connection to adjacent streams was the major factor controlling fish fauna in small-scale ponds. The results of statistical analysis were classified into three groups. Factor 1 was 26.3%, which shows a structural properties such as area and depth of small-scale pond. As for factor 2, it appears on 20.1%, showing water quality like a TP, suspended solids (SS) and COD. Small-scale ponds were classified into three groups by factor scores. Group I consisted of 6 small-scale ponds, which were larger than the others. Group III had higher water quality than the others. We conclude that the most important points to be considered for restoration and management of small-scale ponds is connection with adjacent streams or ditches and depth and size of the small-scale pond.
Magnetohydrodynamics(MHD) dynamo depends on many factors such as viscosity ${\gamma}$, magnetic diffusivity ${\eta}$, magnetic Reynolds number $Re_M$, external driving source, or magnetic Prandtl number $Pr_M$. $Pr_M$, the ratio of ${\gamma}$ to ${\eta}$ (for example, galaxy ${\sim}10^{14}$), plays an important role in small scale dynamo. With the high PrM, conductivity effect becomes very important in small scale regime between the viscous scale ($k_{\gamma}{\sim}Re^{3/4}k_fk_f$:forcing scale) and resistivity scale ($k_{\eta}{\sim}PrM^{1/2}k_{\gamma}$). Since ${\eta}$ is very small, the balance of local energy transport due to the advection term and nonlocal energy transfer decides the magnetic energy spectra. Beyond the viscous scale, the stretched magnetic field (magnetic tension in Lorentz force) transfers the magnetic energy, which is originally from the kinetic energy, back to the kinetic eddies leading to the extension of the viscous scale. This repeated process eventually decides the energy spectrum of the coupled momentum and magnetic induction equation. However, the evolving profile does not follow Kolmogorov's -3/5 law. The spectra of EV (${\sim}k^{-4}$) and EM (${\sim}k^0$ or $k^{-1}$) in high $Pr_M$ have been reported, but our recent simulation results show a little different scaling law ($E_V{\sim}k^{-3}-k^{-4}$, $EM{\sim}k^{-1/2}-k^{-1}$). We show the results and explain the reason.

In this study, we attempted to analyze the status of meal nutritional management at daycare centers and determine whether the need for improvement varies depending on their size. We divided into two groups based on the size of foodservice facilities. If meals for more than 50 people are provided at a time, they are classified as large-scale facilities (Large-scale group). If they are smaller, they are classified as small-scale facilities (Small-scale group). Dietitians visited each daycare center and checked 5 categories and 14 items. When comparing 5 categories, scores in the Small-scale group scored higher than those in the Large-scale group for 'Menu utilization' category. As a result of comparing the detailed 14 items, the scores of 'Indicate dietary information', 'Use menus suitable for those who are eligible for meals', and 'Posting menus by age in public places at foodservice facilities' were higher in the Small-scale group than in the Large-scale group. As such, there are differences in meal nutritional management according to the size of children's foodservice facilities therefore, it was found that customized education and management were needed according to the facilities' size.

This research aimed to identify transition process of invigoration project of the small-scale schools and status of promoting project of multi-family housing for rental and vacant housing remodeling in Jeju-do, Korea. The results are followings. First, invigoration project of the small-scale schools had been started in villages communities themselves and was institutionalized to local government. To invigorate the small-scale schools was started vacant housing remodeling first in the village itself from 1992. After twenty years had passed, the project was institutionalized to local government in 2013. Second, to enact ordinances about invigoration project of the small-scale schools is the accomplishment of participations and activities of residents who predicted decreasing the number of students in elementary schools. These activities have influenced their communities positively. Finally, to supply multi-family housing for rental or to remodel vacant housing is more effective in increasing residents through influx of students of elementary schools. The average number of students increased from 56.8 in 2013 to 73 in 2018 in 30 elementary schools targeted for invigoration project of the small-scale schools. In particular, the effect in schools targeted the project of rental housing is shown more than schools targeted the project in vacant housing remodeling. In addition, low ratio in the number of closed school is shown in Jeju-do.
Forming health care management model in small-scale enterprises was the purpose of this study. For the purpose, we tried to investigate the characteristics of small-scale enterprises and analyzed the pattern of their health care management. The results are as follow: 1. The strength of health managing agency and technical supporting program lies in team approach by specialized manpower. However, if the liaison between each part of the organization is not smooth, the overall management will be very difficult. 2. Small scale enterprises are characterized by their short life after the establishment, use of rental building, lack of welfare facilities, weakness in sanitary management and aggregation of factories of similar type of industry. Because of these characteristics, it is very difficult to solve problem basically, such as improvement of working environment. Therefore, it is important to focus on health education and community based approach. 3. Many workers in small-scale factories are in middle and old age. They have health problems mainly related to personal habits. Implementation of an appropriate health promotion program is needed. 4. The number of workplaces, which should be managed by health managing agent. is increasing rapidly. But the number of health managing agent is limited. In the aspect of the requirement of manpower and equipment, training personal agent is more urgent than founding institutional agent. 5. The uniform method of health management hampers the choice of employer and workers. The types of provision of health management should be diversified. 6. For an efficient management, a frequent visit of personal agent and the following referral to a specialist should be done. The specialists in charge of secondary management are from the field of occupational medicine, occupational hygiene, ergonomics, etc. 7. The health management of small-scale facilities should have six components. They are community-based approach, multi-disciplinary cooperative system, program based on the need of recipient, forming partnership of employer and worker, change of lifestyle, and evidence-based program.

This study aims to develop a framework for an accident prediction model leveraging a deep neural network algorithm, specifically tailored for small-scale construction sites. Notably, the incidence of accidents in the construction sector is markedly higher compared to other industries, with a significant contribution from small-scale sites. The challenging nature of construction in urban settings, coupled with the increasing frequency of adverse weather conditions, is likely to escalate accident risks at these sites. Anticipating and mitigating accidents at small-scale construction sites is therefore crucial to decrease the overall industry accident rate. Consequently, this research introduces a Deep Neural Network-based model for forecasting accidents at small-scale construction sites. The framework and findings of this study are poised to serve as a guideline for the safety management of small-scale construction projects, ultimately aiding in the realization of safer, more sustainable construction practices at these sites.
