Administration of capsaicin produces acute pain and subsequent long-lasting antinociception. The antinociceptive action site of capsaicin is primarily small afferent nerve fibers. However, the effect of capsaicin on the neural activity of dorsal horn neurons are not well understood. The goal of the present experiment was to study the action of capsaicin on activity of dorsal horn neurons using c-fos immunoreactivity in the spinal cord. Intradermal injection of formalin in the hindpaw produced inflammation in the foot pad and increased the number of cells exhibiting Fos-like immunoreactivity (FLI) in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord, suggesting the hyperalgesia because of the apparent inflammation. Intradermal injection of capsaicin prior to formalin injection significantly reduced the number of cells exhibiting FLI induced by formalin and increased the paw-withdrawal latency, suggesting the hypoalgesic effect of capsaicin. Coadministeration with capsaicin of capsazepine and ruthenium red, antagonists of capsaicin receptor reversed the reduction of formalin-induced FLI by capsaicin. he antagonists also partially antagonized the antinociceptive effect of capsaicin in the paw-withdrawal test. These results further suggest that capsaicin reduces prsponses of dorsal horn neurons to the inflammatory nociceptive stimuli in the periphery. Thus, the reduction of FLI subserves the neural mechanisms underlying analgesia produced by capsaicin.

We found that a small number of character types can represent more than half of the character tendencies and the character types tend to have a relationship to particular genres and actions. According to this properties, it would be desirable to provide supports for creative writing classified by character types.
In this study attemps were made to obtain evidence as to the action of Mori Radicis Cortex on the renal' function of anesthetized mongrel dogs. 1. A light brown powder isolated from Mori Radicis Cortex (MRC) by a slight modification of Tanemura's method, when given intravenously in doses ranging 0.5 to 5.0mg/kg, elicited diuresis with the increase of positive water clearance and amounts of $Na^{+}$ and $K^{+}$ excreted in the urine. At this time the glomerular filtration rate, renal plasma flow and osmolar clearance were not observed to have any significant changes. This diuresis was augmented in process of time and its maximum effect was exhibited about 30 minutes after administration of MRC. 2. The MRC, when administered into a intra carotid artery, responded promptly with diuresis and natriuresis at a level too small to effect renal functions when administered intravenously. In this experiment the patterns of changes of renal function were the patterns of changes of renal function were the same as those of the above intravenously administered experiment. 3. When infused directly into a renal artery, the MRC exhibited little effect on either kidney. 4. During water diuresis, the MRC did not elicit diuretic action or significant changes in renal functions. The above observations suggest that the diuresis of MRC is brought about by the inhibition of the release of antidiuretic hormone with the mechanism facilitating the excretion of $Na^{+/}$ and $K^{+}$ in urine.
The synthesis is described of new pepsin substrates of benzyloxycarbonyl-glycyl-L-tyrosyl-L-phenylalanyl-glycine ethyl ester and benzyloxycarbonyl-glycyl-L-tyrosyl-L-phenylalanyl-glycine for studies on the specificity of pepsin, and thin layer chromatographic examination of the peptides prepared showed the new substrates are homogeneous and also, same examination of the incubation mixtures showed that two synthetic substrates are cleaved by pepsin at the L-tyrosyl-L-phenylalanyl bond and hydrolysis of these substrates by pepsin is achieved without transpeptidation. It is found that synthetic peptides are moderately soluble with the amount of the substrate up to a concentration of 0.7 mM in aqueous sodium citrate buffers (0.04 M) in the pH range 1.8-4.0, thus obviating the necessity for the adding of an organic solvent in the assay mixture. The kinetic parameters for synthetic substrates are tabulated in the following table. The data in the table indicate that the susceptibility of synthetic peptides to peptic hydrolysis are relatively large and the change of the carboxyl-terminal group of synthetic substrate from glycine ethyl ester to glycine causes a small decrease in the susceptibility of the L-tyrosyl-L-phenylalanyl bond.

The turning circle of a ship is the path followed by her center of gravity in making a turn of 360$^{\circ}$degrees or more with helm at constant angle. But generally it means her path traced at full angle of the rudder. For the ordinary ship the bow will be inside and the stern outside this circle.It has been usually understood that the turning circle is not essentinally affected by ship's speed at Froude numbers less than about 0.30. However, it is recently reported that the speed provide considerable effects upon the turning circle in piloting many ships actually at sea. In this paper, the author analyzed what effects the speed could provide on the turning circle theoretically from the viewpoint of ship motions and examined how the alteration of the speed at Froude no. under 0.30 affect the turning circle actually, through experiments of actual ships of a small and large size.The main results were as follows.1. Even though ship's speed at Froude no. under 0.30, the alteration of the speed affects the turning circle considerably.2. When the full ahead speeds at Froude no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3 times slow ahead speeds, the mean rates of increase of the advances, tactical diameters and final diameters of thease ships were about 16%, 21% and 19% respectively.3. When the full ahead speeds at Froued no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3 times slow ahead speed, the mean rate of increase of the turning circle elements of large ships was greater 10% than that of small ships. 4. When the full ahead speeds at Froued no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3times slow ahead speeds, the mean rates of increase of the tactical diameter and final diameter of thease ships were greater than that of the advances of thease ships. 5. When only alteration of speed or sip's head turning is the effective action to avoid navigational fixed hagards, reducing the speed is always more advantageous than increasing the speed in order to shorten fore or transverse distance.

Micro-scale test methods are producing small-sample size where the conventional physical and chemical tests can not be used (high standard deviation, uncertain sampling conditions, low repeatability). Different small-scale test methods were developed recently for determination of physico-chemical, functional, rheological properties of wheat or wheat dough using miniaturized instruments with sophisticated sample preparation/handling and mechanics (RVA, 2 g mixograph, micro-Z-arm mixer, small-scale noodle maker, micro-baking method etc.). The small-scale methodologies can be used as basic research tools or as technology supported measurements and can be also essential in the early selection for quality traits in breeding programs. The milling as a sample preparation step is essential procedure providing good quality flour or semolina samples from small amount of grain (5-10 g) in a reproducible and reliable way. The aim of present study was to use NIR as quality control tool, and to evaluate the recently developed and manufactured micro-scale lab mill (FQC-2000) produced by Inter-Labor Co. Ltd., Hungary. The milling characteristics of the new instrument were compared to other laboratory mills and the effects of milling action on the chemical composition of fractions were analysed. The fractions were tested with both chemical and near infrared spectroscopic methods. The micro-scale milling resulted significantly different yields, particle size distributions and different fractions from compositional point of view. The near infrared spectra were sensitive enough to distinguish the fractions obtained by different milling procedures. Quantitative NIR calibration equations were developed and tested in order to measure the chemical composition of characteristic milling fractions. Special qualification procedure the PQS (Polar Qualification System) method was used for detecting the differences between fractions obtained by macro and micro-milling procedures. The results and the limitations of PQS method in this application will be discussed.

Marine casualties of vessel are serious problems on social and national aspects, because it results in sacrifice of lives, a great lose of properties and marine pollution. According to recent statistics of marine casualties of vessel, fishing boats are more likely to be ended in the casualty, and especially, small fishing boats cause much more accidents than any other big vessels. Most of marine casualties were caused by the human factors such as poor watch keeping, inadequate manoeuvering and negligent action for engine, etc. This study is intended to provide navigator of small fishing boat with a specific information of necessary to assist both the manoeuvering and the avoidance of capsizing. The manoeuvering characteristics of ship can be adequately judged by the results of typical ship trials manoeuvres. For this purpose, the author measured the roll responses of a small fishing boat in waves using the real sea experimental measuring system, and analyzed the experimental data by the statistical and spectral analyzing methods to get the characteristics of the roll motion responses of the small boat through the wave directions and the ship's speed.

With the increase of marine traffic capacity, marine accidents have also been increased for recent several years. Especially watch officer must maneuver not entering into the safety minimum approaching distances when two power-driven vessels are crossing. The author calculated the safety minimum approaching distances to provide a navigator with them based on zig-zag motion by experimental ship. The obtained results are summarized as follows : 1. The greatest distance is to be kept by the give way vessel to avoid collision when the crossing course angle is $90^{\circ}$. In this case the safety minimum approaching distance must be more than from 5 times to 11 times of her own length according to her size. 2. The watch officer of the give way vessel must always take an action to avoid collisions outside of the safety minimum approaching distance. 3. When the navigator used rudder to small angle than to large angle to avoid other vessel he must take action outside the sufficient safety minimum outside distances in advance. 4. Risk of collision in crossing situation is more greater in obtuse situation than in acute one.
While there is universal agreement that the ecosystems approach to family resource management is the must influential currently, questions have arisen about the broad applicability of the Deacon & Firebaugh (1988) ecosystems framework. Engberg (1996) has characterized the dominant approach in family resource management as technical and argued that a technical approach substantially restricts feasible actions in much of the world and should not be used in ethical practice. The purpose of the present paper is to compare the family resource management patterns by dual role manager of business owning families in Korea and The United States. Such a comparison is an essential step in the assessment of the usefulness of the Deacon & Firebaugh framework, in particular, and the ecosystems framework, more generally. Korean respondents are 105 family and business managers interviewed in 2000 as part of a survey of owners of small to medium size family business enterprises in Seoul. U.S. respondents are 259 dual role managers in the National Family Business Survey (NFBS 1997). Chi squared statistics indicated country differences on each of the ten(goal setting, standard setting, demand clarification, resource assessment, action sequencing, actuating, checking, adjusting, demand responses, resource change)management practices. Mean responses on eight of the practices(goal setting, standard setting, action sequencing, actuating, checking, adjusting, demand responses, resource changes) were significantly different between two countries. U.S. total score means of family resource management were higher than Korea. Factor analysis of the management scale items yielded different patterns for Korea, and the United States. Korean dual role manager of family business were categorized into three different patterns as classic oriented manager, goal oriented manager, action oriented manager and U.S. were categorized into Process oriented manager and Production oriented manager. Both the number of managerial strategies and the types of strategies used varied in the two countries.
