The utilization of metakaolin as a pozzolanic material for mortar and concrete has received considerable attention in recent years. This paper estimates the fundamental properties of metakaolin as a pozzolanic material in view of fluidity and compressive strength of cement paste and mortar in comparison of silica fume, fly ash and slag. The results show that in order to obtain the same initial fluidity, metakaolin needs higher dosage of PNS superplasticizer than fly ash and slag, however, less dosage than silica fume. In view of compressive strength of mortar, metakaolin exhibits much higher compressive strength than fly ash and slag, and similar compressive strength with silica-fume when 10 % of cement is replaced with a pozzolanic material.

Recently amongst Korea's construction companies there has been heightened interest in environment load reduction and resource recycling. As a result, the construction industry is examining recycled materials alternative to cement and blast-furnace slag (BS henceforth) cement, such as waste refractories and desulfurized plaster. This study analyzes the liquidity and intensity characteristics of mortar according to changes in replacement ratios of waste refractories and desulfurized plaster, used as industry by-products in mortar environments that use BS 3-type cements and circulated fine aggregate. As a result, the greater the increase in replacement ratios of desulfurized plaster, the greater the increase in liquidity and air quantity, as well as compression strength.

In this study, we investigated the strength development and durability of geopolymer mortar using blast furnace slag only, and admixed with blast-furnace slag and fly ash as cementious materials in oder to develop cementless geopolymer concrete. In order to compare with the geopolymer mortar, the normal mortar using ordinary portland cement was also test. In view of the results, we found out that strength development, the resistance to freezing-thawing of the geopolymer mortar have better than the mortar using ordinary portland cement. Especially, using the combined with blast furnace slag and fly ash develop high strength of above 60 MPa, and improve the resistance of freezing-thawing of approximately 20%, but promote the velocity of carbonation of 2.2~3.5 times.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of admixtures as blast-furnace slag(BF) and fly ash(FA) on tensile and adhesive properties of polymer cement mortar(PCM) with EVA emulsion. The test specimens are prepared with five polymer-cement ratio(P/C) and five admixture contents, and tested for tensile strength and adhesion in tension. From the test results, the tensile strength and adhesion in tension could be improved by an appropriate combination of P/C and admixture contents. In particular, the maximum of tensile strength of PCM with P/C 10% and BF content of 10% is 4.70MPa which is about 1.55 times higher than that of plain mortar, and about 1.22 times that of PCM that does not contain any mixture. The ratio of adhesion in tension to tensile strength of PCM with admixtures averaged 55.8%. It is also apparent that admixture contents of 5% or 10% could be proposed for improvement of tensile strength and adhesion in tension of PCM.

Cement is the most widely used but generates a lot of CO2, so we need a material to replace it. Using industrial by-products such as Silica Fume(SF), Blast furnace Slag(BS) and Fly Ash(FA) bring some advantages including CO2 reduction and resource recycling. However, there is a limit to improve performance when using only one material. Therefore, the synergy effects of No cement binary mortar and ternary mortar were analyzed and compared. As a result, No cement ternary mortar had the strength higher than binary mortar. among ternary mortars, the specimen mixed 50% of BS had the highest strength. However, when SF was mixed by 20%, the flowability reduces. so 10% of SF, 40% of FA and 50% of BS is considered as the optimal mixing ratio.
The setting time of alkali activated slag cement tends to be much faster than ordinary Portland cement, and its compressive strength had been higher from the 1 day but became lower than that of the cement on the 28 days. According to the results of the surface observation, weight loss, compressed strength, and erosion depth tests on the sulphuric acid solution. It has been drawn that alkali activated slag cement has a higher sulphate resistance than ordinary Portland cement, and in particular, the alkali activated slag cement added 5 wt% alumina cement has little deterioration on the sulphuric acid solution. The reason why the alkali activated slag cement has higher sulphate resistance than other hardened cement pastes is that it has no $Ca(OH)_2$ reactive to sulphate ion, and there is little $CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$ production causing volume expansion, unlike other pastes. And it is supposed that $Al(OH)_3$ hydrates with high sulphate resistance, which is produced by adding the alumina cement increases the sulfate resistance.

This study is analysis of effect of binder types and replacement ratio on the properties of blast furnace slag mortar using the recycled fine aggregates. The results of the study were was follows. Compressive strength was increased according to an increase in replacement ratio of fine particle cement and gypsum. Absorption was reduced according to an increase in replacement ratio of fine particle cement and recycled aggregate fine powder.

With blast-furnace slag is a by-product generated when pig iron is produced. It has been used as the concrete admixture due to high reactivity. However, It causes low strength development during early age. In order to make up for this drawback, in this study, we evaluated compressive strength of mortar replaced with high volume blast-furnace slag. Experimental results, Compressive strength of mortar based on blast-furnace slag is affected by cement type, substitution rate of blast-furnace slag and pH after mixing.

With increasing content of granulated blase furnace slag in cement, the content of capillary pores in the mortar decreases and later age strength of the concrete. Therefore, this provides greater reserves study is carried out to estimate frost resistance of high-strength concrete specimens with water cement ratios using blast-furnace slag. 1. Blast furnace concrete is comparatively more good frost resistance than normal concrete. 2. As the blast furnace slag increases, the quantity of pores with a radius of more than 30nanometer decreses.

Paper sludge ash was assured as material of a sort of pozzolan. For the reason of fluidity decrease caused by the strong absorption of paper stooge ash and the decrease of compressive strength in case of using over30% replacement by the weight of cement, paper sludge ash is not suitable for blending material. Therefore, it is necessary to find proper replacement ratios between paper sludge and blast furnace slag to insure compressive compensation and appropriate slump. Accordingly, as varied the blending ratios of paper sludge and blast furnace slag, testing mortar was made. This study was aimed to investigate the possibility of using blending replacement of paper sludge ash and blast furnace slag throughout compressive test, flow test, SEM(Scanning Eletron Microscope), MIP(Mercury Intrusion Porosity test), and TG-DTA(Thermal analysis).
