In this study, vibration characteristics of reinforced concrete slab in large span educational facilities were evaluated. A 21.75m X 14.4m full scale reinforced concrete slab specimen was constructed with pre-flex hybrid beams. Vibrations were generated by three different methods such as free falling method of a 6kg sand bag, a 70kg person walking method and impact method by impulse hammer. Vibrations were generated more than 3 times at single location. Vibration characteristic data were collected by SA390 signal analyzer machine at 5 different locations.
This paper presents unprecedented damped oscillation behaviours of a precast steel-concrete composite slab panel for track support. The steel-concrete composite slab track is an innovative slab track, a form of ballastless track which is becoming increasingly attractive to asset owners as they seek to reduce lifecycle costs and deal with increasing rail traffic speeds. The slender nature of the slab panel due to its reduced depth of construction makes it susceptible to vibration problems. The aim of the study is driven by the need to address the limited research available to date on the dynamic behaviour of steel-concrete composite slab panels for track support. Free vibration analysis of the track slab has been carried out using ABAQUS. Both undamped and damped eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes have been extracted using the Lancsoz method. The fundamental natural frequencies of the slab panel have been identified together with corresponding mode shapes. To investigate the sensitivity of the natural frequencies and mode shapes, parametric studies have been established, considering concrete strength and mass and steel's modulus of elasticity. This study is the world first to observe crossover phenomena that result in the inversion of the natural orders without interaction. It also reveals that replacement of the steel with aluminium or carbon fibre sheeting can only marginally reduce the natural frequencies of the slab panel.
Vertical vibrations on the slab of buildings are affected by types of vibration sources, transfer paths, and the material property and the size of members. Among these parameters, the vibration sources and the transfer path can not be controlled, but the property and the size of members can be controlled in the phase of design the members. In this study, the vibration responses according to the property and size of members were obtained by using a prediction program based on dynamic-stiffness matrix. Three parameters which are not usually considered as major factors for architecral planning were selected fur these analyses. They are the strength of materials, the thickness of wall and the thickness of slab. The ground vibration source located near a building was used as vibration input data in the analyses. This study has its originality on presenting appropriate property and size of structural members in order to reduce vertical vibration of slab in shear-wall structures. Analysing the results from the vibration estimation program according to the variations of parameters, the appropriate ratio among the sizes of structural members were proposed. From these results, the vibration level on the slab which is not constructed yet would be predicted and the vibration peak level can be reduced or shifted into the desirable frequency range. Therefore, the vertical vibration could be controlled in the phase of designing buildings.

In these days the floor vibration is beginning to make its appearance of the environmental dispute in apartment building. Standard floor system are suggested for the settlement of this issue by government. The sound of floor impact sound is needed to secure comfortable quality in housing. Also, it is required an accurate analysis and a proper evaluation for floor vibration. Refine model is necessary for the floor system of housing to analyze accurately the floor vibration. But this refine model is not efficient because it is required so much running time for vibration analysis and it is difficult of modeling of standard floor slab. In this paper, new modeling methods of standard floor slab are proposed for the accurate rigidity evaluation. By using the new modeling method, the accurate vibration response can be obtained and can accurately evaluate the rigidity of standard floor system with resilient materials. Therefore the proposed modeling method is of practical use for vibration analysis of floor system of apartment building.

Finite element method and Taguchi method were used to reduce the floor impact vibration of the reinforced concrete slab in the apartment buildings. At first, experimental results show that sound peak components to influence the rating of floor impact sound insulation were coincident with natural frequencies of the reinforced concrete slab, and there is a high linear relation between floor impact vibration and sound. The tables of orthogonal arrays were used for finite element analysis with 5 factors related to slab shape parameters and its results were analyzed by statistical method. The most effective factor to reduce the floor impact vibration was the length of living/kitchen room and the floor impact vibration was predicted by 30% reduction in the acceleration peak by the optimal design values of the factors.
In this study, on-site testing was carried out to investigate the vibration performance of a composite steel-bar truss slab with steel girder system. Ambient vibration was performed to capture the primary vibration parameters (natural frequencies, damping ratios, and mode shapes). The composite floor possesses low frequency (< 10 Hz) and damping (< 2%). Based on experimental, theoretical, and numerical analyses on natural frequencies and mode shapes, the boundary condition of SCSC (i.e., two opposite edges simply-supported and the other two edges clamped) is deemed more reasonable for the composite floor. Walking excitations by one person (single excitation), two persons (dual excitation), and three persons (triple excitation) were considered to evaluate the vibration serviceability of the composite floor. The measured acceleration results show a satisfactory vibration perceptibility. For design convenience and safety, a crest factor ${\beta}_{rp}$ describing the ratio of peak acceleration to root-mean-square acceleration induced from the walking excitations is proposed. The comparisons of the modal parameters determined by ambient vibration and walking tests reveal the interaction effect between the human excitation and the composite floor.

In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the sound radiation characteristics of an apartment house according to the type of the slab system. In order to satisfy the boundary condition of the apartment house, the whole floor is modelled with FEM model for three different structural system: wall, RC, flat slab system. From the analytical results, it Is shown that heavy weight floor impact noise of wail type slab is larger than that of the other slab systems and the noise radiated from the wall have great effect on the sound pressure level. The results also show that the vibration energy of RC or flat slab system is widely distributed over the whole slab, which is main reason that the noise induced by the slab systems is reduced in comparison with wail slab system.
