The design of composite space trusses is a demanding task that involves taking several decisions on the truss depth, number of panels, member configuration, number of chord layers and concrete slab thickness and grade. The focus in this paper is on the design of top concrete slabs of composite space trusses, and in particular their thickness. Several effects must be considered in the process of designing the slab before an optimum thickness can be chosen. These effects include the inplane forces arising from shear interaction with the steel sub-truss and the flexural. and sheer effects of direct lateral slab loading. They also include a constructional consideration that the thickness must allow for sufficient cover and adequate space for placing the reinforcement. The work presented in this paper shows that the structural requirements on the concrete slab thickness are in many cases insignificant compared with the constructional requirements.

In this study, examined heavy-weight floor impact sound to structure that have slab thickness of 4 form at a standard laboratory through noise and vibration measured. The results show that the nature Natural frequency increased according to change of thickness of each slab by finite element analysis, and acceleration value decreased. Results of measurements of noise and vibration at a standard laboratory, the slab 210, 240mm structures was construed result such as finite element analysis but the slab 150, 180mm structures is construed that influence in vibration acceleration level because edge condition has condition that contact to ground. Therefore, in modelling process for analysis, is thought that need that condition analyzes examining element influencing about structure that contact to ground.
This paper contains structural analysis and design regarding how three types of green roof load affect roof slab design of LH housing and facilities. Based on the Structural analysis, an appropriate Roof slab rebar guideline and roof slab thickness have been set up for the green roof load which takes effect on structural design of roof slab. Result of structural analysis and design has been made as follows. Roof slabs can arrange the slab rebar(D10) within the 200~250mm disregarding the types of the green roof load and the pattern of green roof load; also, slab thickness can be designed within 150mm. Moreover, even if the concrete design strength of roof slab changes to 24, 27, and 30MPa, D10 rebar can still be arranged within 200~250mm, and 150mm for slab thickness. Two-way slab of commercial building was appeared to be arranged by slab rebar(D10) within 200mm and 150mm for slab thickness disregarding the soil type or the soil thickness of green roof.

The loss of composite action at the hogging moment zone for a continuous composite girder reduces the girder stiffness and strength. This paper presents an experimental investigation of the use of an ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) slab at the hogging moment zone and a normal concrete (NC) slab at the sagging moment zone. The testing was conducted to verify the level of loading at which composite action is maintained at the hogging moment zone. Four two-span continuous composite girders were tested. The thickness of the UHPC varied between a half and a full depth of slab. The degree of shear connection at the hogging moment zone varied between full and partial. The experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the UHPC slab to enhance the girder stiffness and maintain the composite action at the hogging moment zone at a load level much higher than the upper service load limit. To a lesser degree enhanced performance was also noted for the smaller thickness of the UHPC slab and partial shear connection at the hogging moment zone. Plastic analysis was conducted to evaluate the ultimate capacity of the girder which yielded a conservative estimation. Finite element (FE) modeling evaluated the girder performance numerically and yielded satisfactory results. The results indicated that composite action at the hogging moment zone is maintained for the degree of shear connection taken as 50% of the full composite action and use of UHPC as half depth of slab thickness.

A single slab concrete pavement has been modeled and analyzed by ABAQUS program. The stress and displacement of the JCP slab under traffic load with frictionless contact interaction between slab and base calculated by ABAQUS program have been compared with the results obtained by KENSLABS program. The results of the stresses of the two modeling show similar tendency and the difference of the two modeling is very small however the results of the displacement of the two modeling show some dissimilarity. In order to analyze the effects of material and geometric properties on the responses of slab, some varying parameters were chosen as input for the modeling. The changing parameters include the thickness and elastic modulus of the concrete slab, the thickness and elastic modulus of base and the elastic modulus of the subgrade. The contact interaction between the slab and base layer had been also studied and different friction coefficient 0, 2.5, 6.6, 7.5, 8.9 had been used to simulate the different friction interface condition. The results of the analysis showed that the responses of the concrete slab vary with the material and geometric properties of the pavement structure and the slab-base friction condition.

This research aims to estimate the shear strength of the composition of prestressed hollow-core slab and steel beam. The shear strength of prestressed hollow-core slab combined with the steel beam decreases, as the beam deflection increases to a considerable extent. Existing studies on the shear strength of prestressed hollow-core slab are mostly limited to 265mrn- and larger thickness slab on concrete beam. This study investigates the slab of 100mm-thickness combined with steel beam instead of concrete beam. Five shear connector methods are proposed and the shear strength is estimated with or without the beam deflection for each composition method, respectively. Finally the reduction coefficient $(\beta)$ for the transverse shear stress$(\tau_{zx})$, which is critical for the failure of prestressed hollow-core slab, is proposed.
In current design practice, the thickness of the floor slab has been determined to satisfy requirement for deflection control. However, previous study shows that the floor thicknesses in residential buildings may not satisfy the floor vibration criteria, even though the thickness is determined by the serviceability requirements in current design provisons. Thus it is necessary to develop the procedure to determine slab thickness that satisfies the floor vibration criteria. This study attempts to propose slab thickness for flat plate slab systems that satisfies floor vibration criteria against occupant induced floor vibration(heel drop load). Two boundary conditions(simple and fixed support), three square flat plates(4, 6, 8m), and five concrete strength($18\~30$ MPa) are considered. Since there are large uncertainties in loading and material properties, probabilistic approach is adopted using Monte-Carlo simulation procedures.

Recently, accidents involving structural elements, formwork, and shore have occurred continuously during concrete pouring, especially in multistory-shored RC structure systems with non-typical stories with increased slab thicknesses. In previous studies, an analysis was conducted on the stiffness of concrete and distribution of slab construction loads when some slab thicknesses were increased under the same conditions. This study analyzed the construction load, construction damage parameter, and shoring force by varying the construction conditions, such as the construction period and number of shores, as well as the design conditions, such as the thickness increment and number of thickness increment slabs, in a multistory-shored RC structure system with non-typical stories with increased slab thickness.
To investigate the failure form, bending stiffness, and residual bearing capacity of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab throughout the fire process, fire tests of four monolithic composite beams with laminated slab were performed under constant load and temperature increase. Different factors such as post-pouring layer thickness, lap length of the prefabricated bottom slab, and stud spacing were considered in the fire test. The test results demonstrate that, under the same fire time and external load, the post-pouring layer thickness and stud spacing are important parameters that affect the fire resistance of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab. Similarly, the post-pouring layer thickness and stud spacing are the predominant factors affecting the bending stiffness of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab after fire exposure. The failure forms of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab after the fire are approximately the same as those at room temperature. In both cases, the beams underwent bending failure. However, after exposure to the high-temperature fire, cracks appeared earlier in the monolithic composite beams with laminated slab, and both the residual bearing capacity and bending stiffness were reduced by varying degrees. In this test, the bending bearing capacity and ductility of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab after fire exposure were reduced by 23.3% and 55.4%, respectively, compared with those tested at room temperature. Calculation methods for the residual bearing capacity and bending stiffness of monolithic composite beams with laminated slab in and after the fire are proposed, which demonstrated good accuracy.
A Computer-based iterative method is provided for the calculation of minimum thickness values for one-way slabs to satisfy the maximum permissible limits given in the ACI Building Code. An algorithm includes the effects of cracking and time-dependent effects due to creep and shrinkage. Comparison of the calculated minimum thickness values with the current ACI limits is conducted to investigate limitations of the current tabulated minimum thickness. which are constant to a range of design conditions.
