분위기 소결공정에 의해 제조된 ZnO 세라믹 바리스터의 열화기구 연구 (A Study on the Degradation Mechanism of ZnO Ceramic Varistor Manufactured by Ambient Sintering-Process)

  • The relationship between the DC degradation characteristics of the ZnO varistor and the ambient sintering-process is investigated in this study. ZnO varistors made o matsuoka’s composition were fabricated by standard ceramic techniques. The ambient sintering-process is performed at the extraordinary electrical-furnace which is equipped with the vacuum system. Gases used in sintering process were oxygen nitrogen argon and air. Using XRD and SEM the phase and microstructure of samples were analyzed respectively. The conditions of DC degradation tests were conducted at 115$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$ for 13 h. Current-voltage analysis is used to determine nonlinear coefficients($\alpha$). Frequency analysis are performed to understand electrical properties as DC degradation test. From above analysis it is found that the ZnO varistor sintered in oxygen atmosphere showed superior properties at the DC degradation test and degradation phenomenon of ZnO varistor is caused by the change of electrical properties in grain boundary. These results are in accordance with Gupta’s degradation model.

Glass Infilteration in Bonding of $BaTiO_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ Layers

  • A novel sintering process is proposed for bonding of $BaTiO_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ layers. Common commercial glass was used and infilterated among filler particles. As the kind of commercial glass, the phenomenon of the infilteration is different. Although Sud-1140 glass forms a glass/filler composite, it is not completely infilterated into the filler particles at $900^{\circ}C$. However as the increase of sintering temperature the infilteration of glass was improved. In this study, GA-1 and GA-12 glasses were infilterated the more than Sud-1140 glass. However, they are reacted by $BaTiO_3$ layer. The results of the experiment show that constrained sintering and the co-firing of the different materials were possible for glass infilteration using Sud-1140 glass at $1000^{\circ}C$.

TiB$_2$-Fe 서메트의 소결성 및 기계적성질에 미치는 Mo첨가의 영향 (Effect of Mo Addition on the Sinterability and Mechanical Properties of TiB$_2$-Fe Cermets)

  • Fe and Fe-Mo binder were used to produce TiB2 based cermet by a pressureless sintering. The densification behaviour of TiB2-Fe-Mo cermet during liquid-phase sintering in argon was studied in relation to binder phase charactertics. The effects of Mo addition and sintering condition on the sintering behaviour and mechanical properties were also investigated. TiB2-based cermets with Fe-Mo binder composition showed a better sinterability than the cermets with only Fe binder. In TiB2-Fe-Mo cermet higher densities in the wide temperature range were obtained and also fully densified sintered cermet were obtained at 1873K The enhancement in the densification phenomenon of TiB2-Fe-Mo system can be explained by improved liquid phase wettability associated with the roles of Mo components as solute atoms. When Fe-Mo binders were used cermets with a finer grain size and enhanced mechanical properties wereproduced and new phases such as Fe2B and Mo2FeB2 were observed in the sintered cermet. The highest bending strength was obtained from the 20vol% Fe-Mo cermet and these hardness-fracture toughness combination in the wide binder compositions is better than that of TiB2-Fe cermet. In order to improve mechanical properties microstructure control with high purity powders is desirable because high purity powders prevent the formation of Fe2B and Mo2FeB2 phase which comsume the ductile binder phase.

고온 수전해 전해질 막의 제막조건에 따른 미세구조 분석 (Microstructure Analysis with Preparation Condition of Electrolyte Membrane for High Temperature Electrolysis)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the microstructure characteristics of electrolyte membrane through XRD, SEM and AC impedance measurement for using in high temperature steam electrolysis(HTE). It was investigated that thermal stability and electric characteristics by sintering condition using dry and wet process, and confirmed growth of particle and density change by sintering temperature. The sintering temperature and behavior had an effect on the relative density of the ceramic and the average grain size. The more amount of dispersant in organic compound increase, the more the density increased. But the binder was shown opposite phenomenon. It was analyzed that electrolyte resistance and electrical characteristics using AC impedance. The electrical properties of YSZ grain boundary changed with the sintering temperature.

  • 지정폐기물인 EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) Dust는 현재 대부분이 매립 등 부적절하게 처리되고 있어 지하수 오염 등의 환경 파괴를 일으킬 위험이 있다. EAF Dust의 자원화를 위하여 EAF Dust/점토 조성으로 세라믹 다공체의 제조 가능성을 연구하였다. 출발 원료들의 혼합은 습식 공정으로 행하였으며, 소결 방법은 급속 소결과 일반 소결을 각각 적용하였다. 소결된 시편의 비중, 기공 및 미세구조를 관찰한 결과. 시편내의 발포현상은 탄소(C)의 양과 액상 생성의 유무에 의해 결정됨이 밝혀졌다. 발포를 용이하게 발생시켜 다공체의 경량골재를 얻기 위해서는 소결 시 급열처리하는 것이 유리하였다.

Bond and fracture strength of metal-ceramic restorations formed by selective laser sintering

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture strength of the metal and the bond strength in metal-ceramic restorations produced by selective laser sintering (SLS) and by conventional casting (CAST). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Non-precious alloy (StarLoy C, DeguDent, Hanau, Germany) was used in CAST group and metal powder (SP2, EOS GmbH, Munich, Germany) in SLS group. Metal specimens in the form of sheets ($25.0{\times}3.0{\times}0.5mm$) were produced in accordance with ISO 9693:1999 standards (n=30). To measure the bond strength, ceramic was fired on a metal specimen and then three-point bending test was performed. In addition, the metal fracture strength was measured by continuing the application of the load. The values were statistically analyzed by performing independent t-tests (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The mean bond strength of the SLS group (50.60 MPa) was higher than that of the CAST group (46.29 MPa), but there was no statistically significant difference. The metal fracture strength of the SLS group (1087.2 MPa) was lower than that of the CAST group (2399.1 MPa), and this difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSION. In conclusion the balling phenomenon and the gap formation of the SLS process may increase the metal-ceramic bond strength.

$Ti(C, N)-Cr_3C_2$, 소결체의 오결분위기에 따른 물성과 $Cr_3C_2$ 상변화 (Change Of the Properties and the $Cr_3C_2$ Phase by Sintering Atmospere on $Ti(C, N)-Cr_3C_2$ Ceramics)

  • Ti(C, N)-Cr3C2계 ceramics 의 소결에 있어 서, 소결 분위기가 소결체의 물성에 미치는 영 향과 Cr3c2월 상변화 현상을 검토하였다. Ti(C, N)-Crsc2 혼합분말을 진공 및 질소 분위기에서 소결할 경우 치밀한 소결체를 얻을 수 있었으나, 아르곤 분위기에서는 치밀한 소결체를 얻을 수 없었다. 이들 소결체의 X-선 회절 분석결과, 진공 분위기에서는 Cr3c2가 CrIC3로 변화하 였으며 질소 및 아르곤 분위기에서는 상변화가 거의 없었다 이는 진공소결시 Ti(C, N)에서 탈질 현상이 일어나고 이에 따라 Cr3c2중의 C의 이동에 의해 CrTCE 상으로 변하며, 따라서 활발 한 Ti 및 Cr의 이동으로 인해 치밀한 소결이 이루어지는 것으로 해석되며 반면 질소분위기에서는,가질 현상이 일어나고 이에 따라 유리탄 소의 생성, 이 유리탄소에 의한 입계 내의 산소 의 제거 및 입계 사이의 유리탄소의 잔존 등의 소결기구에 의해 치밀화가 이루어 지는 것으로 해석된다.

화력발전소 바닥재와 폐촉매 슬래그로 제조된 인공골재의 특성 연구 (A study on the properties of artificial aggregates containing bottom ash from the power plant and waste catalyst slag)

  • 무기계 폐자원인 화력발전소 바닥재(이하 바닥재로 칭함)와 폐촉매 슬래그를 7 : 3(무게비)으로 혼합, 성형하고 직화소성법으로 인공골재를 제조한 뒤, 원료들의 입도 및 소성온도가 골재의 발포특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 대부분의 인공골재는 원료 입도에 관계없이 $1150^{\circ}C$ 이상의 소성온도에서 발포거동을 나타내었으며, 그 결과 비중이 급격히 낮아져 $1250^{\circ}C$에서 약 1.4로 수렴하였다. 그러나 폐촉매 슬래그의 입도를 변화시킨 골재 중 가장 작은 입도($90{\mu}m$)를 사용한 시편만은 두드러진 발포특성을 보이지 않았다. $1050{\sim}1150^{\circ}C$의 저온구간에서 소성된 인공골재의 경우, 원료로 사용된 바닥재와 폐촉매 슬래그 입도가 클수록 비중이 증가하였다. 또한 모든 골재들은 소성온도와 함께 흡수율이 낮아지는 경향을 보였다. 이 실험에서 제조된 인공골재의 비중은 1.4~1.7, 그리고 흡수율은 8~19 %를 나타내어 경량골재의 기준을 만족함으로써 다양한 분야에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-BaTiO3 계에서 입자성장 및 고상단결정성장에 미치는 Na2CO3 첨가 효과 (Effect of Na2CO3 Addition on Grain Growth Behavior and Solid-state Single Crystal Growth in the Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-BaTiO3 System)

  • Grain-growth behavior in the $95Na_{1/2}Bi_{1/2}TiO_3-5BaTiO_3$ (mole fraction, NBT-5BT) system has been investigated with the addition of $Na_2CO_3$. When $Na_2CO_3$ is added to NBT-5BT, the growth rate is higher than desired and grains are already impinging each other during the initial stage of sintering. The grain size decreases as the sintering temperature increases. With the addition of $Na_2CO_3$, a liquid phase infiltrates the interfaces between grains during sintering. The interface structure can be changed to be more faceted and the interface migration rate can increase due to fast material transport through the liquid phase. As the sintering temperature increases, the impingement of abnormal grains increases because the number of abnormal grains increases. Therefore, the average grain size of abnormal grains can be decreased as the temperature increases. The phenomenon can provide evidence that grain coarsening in NBT-5BT with addition of $Na_2CO_3$ is governed by the growth of facet planes, which would occur via mixed control.

공극률에 따른 다공성 타이타늄 임플란트의 기계적 특성 (Mechanical properties of the porous Ti implants according to porosity)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate mechanical properties of the porous Ti implants according to porosity. Porous Ti implant will be had properties similar to human bone such as microstructure and mechanical properties. Methods: Porous Ti implant samples were fabricated by sintering of spherical Ti powders(below $25{\mu}m$, $25{\sim}32{\mu}m$, $32{\sim}38{\mu}m$, and $38{\sim}45{\mu}m$) in a high vacuum furnace. Specimen's diameter and height were 4mm and 40 mm. Surface and sectional images of porous Ti implants were evaluated by scanning electron microscope(SEM). Porosity and average pore size were evaluated by mercury porosimeter. Young's modulus and tensile strength were evaluated by universal testing machine(UTM). Results: Porosity of Implant was increased according to larger particle size of the powder. Boundary portions of particles are sintered fully and others portions were formed pore. Young's modulus was decreased by formed porous structure. Tensile strength was decreased according to larger the particle size of the powder, but higher than human bone. Conclusion: If prepared by adjust the porosity of the porous Ti implant will be able to resolve the stress shielding phenomenon.
