  • A novel X-band high speed frequency sweep signal generator based on a tunable optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) incorporating a frequency-swept laser is presented and the theoretical fundamentals of the design are explained. A prototype of the generator with tuning range from 8.8552 GHz to 10.3992 GHz and a fine step about 8 MHz is achieved. The generated radiofrequency signal with a single sideband (SSB) phase noise lower than -100 dBc/Hz@10KHz is experimentally demonstrated within the whole tunable range, without any narrow RF band-pass filters in the loop. And the tuning speed of the frequency sweep signal generator can reach to over 1 GHz/s benefiting from applying a novel dispersion compensation modular instead of several tens of kilometers of optical fiber delay line in the system.

  • TFBAR filters for wireless applications are simulated and fabricated. A CAD model is used to analize the air-gap type single resonator and MBVD model is used far filter design. Aluminum nitride is used as the piezoelectric material with platinum electrodes. To verier the CAD model, simulated and measured results are compared far various top electrode thicknesses, and the agreement is within 0.5 % for the parallel resonance frequency. Various types of the ladder type band pass filters are predicted and their responses are compared with measured frequency data.

  • We have developed polymer LED displays using ink jet printing without visible swathe marks which can be observed during display operation. In addition, we have also developed a single-pass printing technology for hole-conduction layer deposition to significantly reduce the complexity of interlacing printing across the panel which is known as an alternative to remove the swathe mark.

  • Characterization of a single pass of cDNA sequence, an expressed sequence tag (EST) has been a fast growing activity in fish genomics. Despite its relatively short history, fish EST databases (dbESTs) have already begun to play a significant role in bridging the gaps in our knowledge on the gene expression in fish genome. This review provides a brief description of the technology for establishing fish dbESTs, its current status, and implication of the ESTs to aquaculture and fisheries science with particular emphasis on the discovery of novel genes for transgenic application, the use of polymorphic EST markers in genetic linkage mapping and the evaluation of signal-responsive gene expression.

  • The geometry PIG provides pipeline operators with continuous measurement of pipe centerline coordinates, bend radius, displacement, and bending strain in a single pass through the pipeline. This study introduces the developed geometry PIG(Pipeline Inspection Gauge) which is used for geometry surveys. This tool is equipped with the several sensor systems. The Inertial Navigation System (INS) comprises angle rate gyros and linear accelerometers. The system measures the precise path of the PIG during its traverse of the pipeline. This system is also used to produce a detailed map of the lire, measure curvature. Odometers measure the PIG´s distance moved along the line and instantaneous speed during the PIG run. Caliper sensors measure pipeline ...

  • Focused ion beams are a potential tool for micro/nano structure fabrication while several problems still have to be overcome. Redeposition of sputtered atoms limits the accurate fabrication of micro/nano structures. The challenge lies in accurately controlling the focused ion beam to fabricate various arbitrary curved shapes. In this paper a basic approach for the focused ion beam induced direct fabricate of fundamental features is presented. This approach is based on the topography simulation which naturally considers the redeposition of sputtered atoms and sputtered yield changes. Fundamental features such as trapezoidal, circular and triangular were fabricated with this approach using single or multiple pass box milling. The beam diameter(FWHM) and maximum current density are 68 nm and $0.8 A/cm^2$, respectively. The experimental investigations show that the fabricated shape is well suited for the pre-designed fundamental features. The characteristics of ion beam induced direct fabrication and shape formation will be discussed.

  • A high performance 16bit multiplier for asynchronous systems has been designed using asynchronous design methodology. The 4-radix modified Booth algorithm, TSPC (true single phase clocking) registers, and modified 4-2 counters using DPTL (differential pass transistor logic) have been used in our multiplier. It is implemented in 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ double-poly/double-metal CMOS technology by using 6616 transistors with core size of 1.4$\times$1.1$\textrm{mm}^2$. And our design results in a computation rate exceeding 60MHz at a supply voltage of 3.3V.

  • A microscopic mass balance approach has been developed to estimate the extent and rate of absorption for camier-mediated comounds. For the case competitive inhibition in the presence of an inhibitor which shares the same camier, the fraction dose absorbed (F) and absorption rate constant ($K_a$) of a drug can be calculated from its concentration profile in the intestinal lumen. Absorption parameters obtained by single-pass perfusion experiments were used in the simultaion of the absorption of some aminopenicilins. Predicted fractions dose absorbed and absorption rate constants of ampicilin and amoxicilin were significantly reduced in the presence of a 6-times higher molar dose of cyclacilin. The drug-drug interactions on the competitive absroption of camier-mediated compounds were determined with regard to F and $K_a$. Predicted decreases in F for some aminopenicilins corrlated well with decrease in the urinary recovery in humans reported in the literature. Predicted decrease in the mean absorption rate constant ($\barK_a$) explain the delays in the time of peak plasma concentration ($T_{max}$) reported in humans.

  • Abrupt scene changes generally incur the afterimage effect. So, the unblocked image portion is still viewed by human eyes just after it is blocked by some pattern. Yovo's secure display method utilized this phenomenon and it is systematically analyzed using computational afterimage modeling by replacing the complex afterimage effect via simple low-pass filtering. With this approach, realistic images perceived by the human eye can be computationally generated at every single moment, especially reflecting the afterimage effect. The generated images are compared with the original images to determine the factors that affect the image quality of the secure display method. The simulation results demonstrate that the ratio of the unblocked portion to the blocked portion of an image and the playback rate are two primary factors related to the recognized image quality. We also found that the two factors are still effective for generalized secure display techniques.
