Development of Inertial Measurement Sensor Using Magnetic Levitation

  • An INS(Inertial Navigation System) is composed of a navigation computer and an IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), and can be applied to estimate a vehicle's state. But the inertial sensors assembled in the IMU are too complicated and expensive to use for the general application purpose. In this study, a new concept of inertial sensor system using magnetic levitation is proposed. The proposed system is expected to replace one single-axis rate or position gyroscope, and one single-axis accelerometer concurrently with a relatively simple structure. A simulation of the proposed system is given to describe the capability of this new concept.

  • The single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor has been shown to be capable of very desirable steady state performance, but known to have undesirable starting performance. This is because magnetic braking torque. So, it is very important to predict starting performance accurately when designing the line-start motors. In this paper, starting performance was calculated by combination of d-q axis voltage equations and mechanical dynamic equations. D-q axis voltage components were derived by winding angle and turns ratio transformations.

Single Electronic Drive Controlling Two Synchronous Motors Via Modified Vector Control

  • A novel control scheme of using a single electronic drive to synchronize two synchronous motors is investigated analytically. The developed control strategy extends the conventional vector control technology, Specifically, it utilizes the property that the motion of two motors can be independently controlled by the q-axis currents provided the desired q-axis currents can be achieved by adjusting physical armature currents. The latter part is indeed guaranteed by adding a position offset to one of the motors. This work has a potential of cost saving in practice where the cost of drive is a major concern.

  • LADARs are used for important sensors in various applications, for example, terrain information sensors in self driving cars, safety sensors for factory automation, and 3D map constructions. This study develop important component technologies to improve the performance of a LADAR system under development in Korea. The component technologies include diode temperature regulation, reducing distance error in outdoor environment, and signal processing technique for better detection of distant objects. This paper explains the suggested component technologies and experimental results of the developed LADAR system. Also, the developed system is operated and tested an a single axis driving platform to acquire 3D information from 2D LADAR.

계산과학을 통한 MoSe2 물분해 광촉매 성질 연구

  • 최근 single-layer $MoSe_2$와 같은 2차원의 TMD 화합물들이 물분해 광촉매로서 각광받고 있다. TMD 화합물 중 single-layer $MoSe_2$는 수소 발생 반응을 일으킬 수 있으나 산소 발생 반응은 일으킬 수 없어 산화 반응을 진행시킬 추가적인 전극이 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 strain과 doping을 통해 valence band를 아래로 이동시켜 $MoSe_2$를 더 좋은 물분해 광촉매로 변화시키는 방법을 모색하였다. 먼저 Armchair, zigzag, biaxial isotropic, z-axis direction으로 strain을 걸어줄 때 전자구조의 변화를 관찰하였다. z-axis 방향으로 -2.5% strain을 걸어주었을 때 VBM이 0.07eV만큼 감소하였다. 또한 Mo를 Nb로 치환하고 Se를 P, As로 치환한 다음 전자구조를 관찰하였다. Nb와 doping의 경우 VBM이 감소함을 확인하였으며 As doping의 경우 산화반응이 일어날 수 있고 산화력과 환원력이 비슷해짐을 알아내었다. 또한 산화반응과 환원반응이 일어나는 위치가 분리됨을 확인하였다.

수렴성 빔 전자회절 도형을 이용한 Al-Ti 합금의 상 분석 (Phase Identification of Al-Ti Alloys Using Convergent Beam Electron Diffraction Pattern)

  • The use of primitive cell volume and zero order Laue (ZOLZ) pattern is proposed to identify phase in a complex microstructure. Single convergent beam electron pattern containing higher order Laue zone ring from a nanosized region is sufficient to calculate the primitive cell volume of the phase, while ZOLZ pattern is used to determine the zone axis of the crystal. A computer program is used to screen out possible phases from the value of measured cell volume from convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern. Indexing of ZOLZ pattern follows in the program to find the zone axis of the identification from a single CBED pattern. An example of the analysis is given from the rapidly solidified $Al-Al_3Ti$ system.

FEA를 이용한 NiAl 단결정 소성 변형의 결정 방향 의존에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Orientation Dependence of Plastic Deformation in NiAl Single Crystals by FEA)

  • Deformation of single crystals was studied using finite element analysis to investigate the orientation dependence of plastic deformation observed in NiAl single crystals. Investigation of mechanical properties of single crystals is closely related with the understanding of deformation processes in single crystals. Orientation dependence of material behavior in NiAl single crystals was studied by rotating loading directions from 'hard' orientation. The maximum nominal compressed stress in NiAl single crystals was ranged in a quite wide scope depending on the misalignment from 'hard' orientation. As the compressed axis set closer to 'hard' orientation, the maximum nominal compressed stress rapidly increased and made <100> slips difficult to activate. Therefore, non-<100> slips will be activated instead of <100> slips for 'hard' orientation.

  • Deformations of single crystals were studied using finite element analysis to investigate the localized modes and the orientation dependence of plastic deformation observed in single crystals. Investigation of mechanical properties of single crystals is closely related with the understanding of deformation processes in single crystals. Localized bands such as shear and kink were studied and the material and geometric characteristics that influence the formation of such localized bands were investigated. Orientation dependence of material behavior in NiAl single crystals was studied by rotating slip directions from 'hard' orientation. The maximum nominal compressed stress in NiAl single crystals was widely ranged depending on the misalignment from 'hard' orientation. As the compression axis was set closer to 'hard' orientation, the maximum nominal compressed stress was rapidly increased and made <100> slips difficult to activate. $CuInTe_2$ 단결정 성장과 특성연구(I) (Study on $CuInTe_2$ Single Crystals Growth and Characteristics(I))

  • CuInTe2 다결정은 수평전기로에서 합성하고, CuInTe2 단결정은 수직 Bridgman 방법으로 성장하여 결정구조를 조사하고, Hall 효과를 30K에서 293K의 온도영역에서 측정하였다. CuInTe2 다결정 및 단결정은 정방정계였다. 다결정의 격자상수는 a=6.168Å, c=12.499Å 그리고 c/a=2.026이었고, 단결정의 격자상수는 a=6.186Å, c=12.453Å, 그리고 c/a=2.013이었다. CuInTe2 단결정의 성장면은 Laue 배면반사 사진으로부터 구하였으며 (112)면이었다. CuInTe2 단결정의 Hall 효과는 van der Pauw 방법으로 측정하였다. 상온에서 측정된 c축에 수직한 시료의 운반자농도 p는 2.14×1023holes/m3, 전기전도도 δ는 739.58Ω-1m-1 그리고 이동도 μ는 2.16×10 m2/V·s 이었다. c축에 평행한 시료의 운반자농도 p는 1.51×1023holes/m3, 전기전도도 σ는 717.55Ω-1m-1 그리고 이동도 μ는 2.97×10-2 m2/V·s이었다. c축에 수직 및 평행한 시료의 Hall계수가 양의 값이어서 CuInTe2 단결정은 p형 반도체임을 알 수 있었다.
