Abnormal cab vibrations in the Y direction in commercial vehicles during driving(70~90kph) are not common vibrations that happen to vehicles during driving and can be an obstacle to normal driving. This study conducted Operation Deflection Shape(ODS) testing to identify the causes of those abnormal cab vibrations and find solutions for them and also a sine sweep test to find resonance and frequency in the cab suspension system and set directions for improvement. The study also altered the shape of the bush inner part for changes to the rigidity features of the cab bush in the Y direction and revised the design with optimal rigidity in the Y direction, thus improving abnormal cab vibrations in the Y direction during driving.

In general vibration test considers both harmonic vibration and random vibration, When developing the vehicle component. But the effect of harmonic vibration is larger in the parts around the vehicle engine, sole testing the harmonic vibration is considered. In this study, the fatigue damage of the linear system fixed around the engine is analyzed when the effect of random vibration is higher, harsher than the normal road surface condition. In condition the vehicle speed and the engine RPM are similar, the higher the harshness of the road surface condition is, the larger the fatigue damage level is. Therefore both random vibration and harmonic vibration must be considered in vibration test of components around the engine. Proposing the sine on random(SOR) vibration test that can exam considering both of vibrations, harmonic and random.

During launch a spacecraft is subjected to a variety of dynamical loads transmitted through the launcher to spacecraft interface or air-born transmission excitations in the acoustic pressure field inside the fairing. As a result, spacecraft are tested on ground to ensure and demonstrate the global integrity of the structure against these loads, to screen the flight hardware for quality of workmanship and to validate mathematical models. This paper addresses the numerical modelling and simulation of the low frequency sine and random vibration tests performed on electrodynamic shaker facilities to comprise the mechanical-borne transmission loads through the launcher to spacecraft interface. Consequently, the paper reviews techniques and methodologies to derive a reliable and representative coupled virtual vibration testing simulation environment based on experimental data. These technologies are explored with the main objectives to ensure a stable, reliable and accurate control while testing. As a result, the use of the derived simulation models in combination with the added value of improved control and signal processing algorithms can lead to a safer and smoother vibration test control of the entire environmental test campaign.

For the geotechnical analysis in the construction and Deign of the coastal structures, one of the most important factors is the existence of waves. The dynamic behavior and deformation of the seabed subjected to wave load must be considered. It is expected that the soil behavior in the seabed subjected to cyclic wave load is much different from that on the ground subjected to dynamic forces such as earthquake. The purposes of this study are as follows ; Firstly, to provide a testing method to generate wave loads in the laboratory and measuring oscillatory pore water pressures in the unsaturated marine silty sand specimen, Secondly, to analyze the mechanism of wave induced pore water pressures and liquefaction potentials under the conditions in the testing. It is shown that the test set-up manufactured especially for the test is good to generate oscillatory wave pressures to the specimen with sine wave type. From the results of this study, it is understood that the pore water pressure due to induced waves is not accumulated as the wave number increases but is periodically varied with wave passage on still water surface. The magnitude of pore water pressures measured tends to be diminished radically with a certain time lag under the action of both high and low waves as depth increases.

The purposes of the research were to evaluate system performance and response of building structure under external load for full scale modal-testing-tower applied toggle bracing and lead rubber damper(LRD). The dynamic properties of the structure were measured before and after installing damper under harmonic excitation using the AMD and the results were compared. The harmonic excitation condition is to increase 0.01Hz sine sweep signal from 0.49Hz to 0.63Hz. As a result of measuring resonant frequency, before installing damper is 0.55Hz and after installing damper is 0.62Hz. The experimental results after installing damper were also distinguished from simulation results and the main cause of this results is temperature dependency property of rubber material.
Non-linear large-displacement elasto-plastic finite element analyses are used to propose design recommendations for the eaves bracket of a cold-formed steel portal frame. Owing to the thinness of the sheet steel used for the brackets, such a structural design problem is not trivial as the brackets need to be designed against failure through buckling; without availability of the finite element method, expensive laboratory testing would therefore be required. In this paper, the finite element method is firstly used to predict the plastic moment capacity of the eaves bracket. Parametric studies are then used to propose design recommendations for the eaves bracket against two potential buckling modes of failure: (1) buckling of the stiffened free-edge into one-half sine wave, (2) local plate buckling of the exposed triangular bracket area. The results of full-scale laboratory tests on selected geometries of eaves bracket demonstrate that the proposed design recommendations are conservative. The use of the finite element method in this way exploits modern computational techniques for an otherwise difficult structural design problem.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to use finite element analysis to predict the fatigue life of an implant system subjected to fatigue load by mastication (chewing force). The reliability and the stability of implant system can be defined in terms of the fatigue strength. Not only an implant is expensive but also it is almost impossible to correct after it is inserted. From a bio-engineering standpoint, the fatigue strength of the dental implant system must be evaluated by simulation (FEA). Material and Methods Finite element analysis and fatigue test are performed to estimate the fatigue strength of the implant system. Mesh of implant is generated with the actual shape and size. In this paper, the fatigue strength of implant system is estimated. U-fit (T. Strong, Korea, internal type). The stress field in implant is calculated by elastic-plastic finite element analysis. The equivalent fatigue stress, considering the contact and preload stretching of a screw by torque for tightening an abutment, is obtained by means of Sine's method. To evaluate the reliability of the calculated fatigue strength, fatigue test is performed. Results: A comparison of the calculated fatigue strength with experimental data showed the validity and accuracy of the proposed method. The initiation points of the fatigue failure in the implant system exist in the region of high equivalent fatigue stress values. Conclusion: The above proposed method for fatigue life estimation tan be applied to other configurations of the differently designed and improved implant. In order to prove reliability of prototype implant, fatigue test should be executed. The proposed method is economical for the prediction of fatigue life because fatigue testing, which is time consuming and precision-dependent, is not required.

A laboratory investigation was performed to estimate the moduli values of asphalt concrete mixture due to various sinusoidal loadings in compression and tension. Total five modes of loading were used under five testing temperatures of 32, 50, 68, 86, and $104^{\circ}F$ (0, 10, 20, 30, and $40^{\circ}C$); repeated compressive haversine loading with rest period, repeated tensile haversine loading with rest period, cyclic compressive loading, cyclic tensile loading, and alternate tensile-compressive loadings. The test results showed that, due to the repeated haversine loading with rest period, asphalt concrete demonstrated similar moduli in tension and compression at low temperatures,(0 and $10^{\circ}C$) while those moduli were different at high temperatures (20, 30, and $40^{\circ}C$). At high temperatures the compressive moduli were always higher than the tensile moduli. The uniaxial tensile moduli were higher than indirect tensile moduli at low temperatures. However, those moduli were similar at high temperatures. In uniaxial cyclic tension, compression, and alternate tension-compression tests, compressive moduli were higher than tensile and alternate tensile-compressive moduli throughout the temperatures. Generally, the moduli from the repeated haversine loading with rest period were always lower than those from the cyclic sinusoidal loading. The difference in moduli from the repeated haversine loading with rest period and cyclic sinusoidal loading becomes more significant as the temperature decreases.

A LabVIEW program has been developed together with simple infrared thermography(IRT) system to control the lock-in conditions of the system efficiently. The IR imaging software was designed to operate both of infrared camera and halogen lamp by synchronizing them with periodic sine signal based on thyristor(SCR) circuits. LabVIEW software was programmed to provide users with screen-menu functions by which it can change the period and energy of heat source, operate the camera to acquire image, and monitor the state of the system on the computer screen. In experiment, lock-in IR image for a specimen with artificial hole defects was obtained by the developed IRT system and compared with optical image.
Improving the stability of the ground in seismic design requires an understanding of the dynamic behavior of the ground under seismic loads. The shaking table test is an important methodology to provide this understanding. This study aimed to assess the influence on boundary conditions, as they are among the most important factors affecting the test. This was achieved by testing the influence of boundary conditions on the seismic responses of model slopes at different locations in the testing apparatus. A model slope was fabricated at different locations in a laminar shear box, and the influence of the boundary conditions was then measured. Each model slope was created at 100, 50, and 25 cm from the soil wall, and sine wave seismic loads of the same size were inputted. The results confirmed that the acceleration was amplified by the influence of the boundary in the case of the slope being located 25 cm from the boundary, whereas the influence of the boundary conditions decreased when the slope was located at 50~100 cm.
